The family has now put out statement regarding their daughter which outlines a little more about the day she was last seen.
In their statement they said: “Stefanie got into an argument with her sister while we were gone and walked off. We live a half mile back in the woods and our kids are very comfortable in their surroundings so there was nothing to raise flags the first few hours.”
The family also confirmed they are working on planning a ground search in New Sweden.

New Sweden Maine is very close to the border with Canada.

I live in NH ...so also bordering Canada. If I was in Canada and had legal concerns, I think I'd just go to the local police. If I was in Portugal, I'd head for the Embassy or Consulate. The wording just seemed weird to me. I work with Canada daily, so I don't really consider it another country, though it is. It's just my Canadian counterparts.

The Maine State Police say they will host a joint press conference on Monday with the Boston FBI Division about the disappearance of 14-year-old Stefanie Damron.

Damron was last seen on September 23rd, going into the woods near her home on West Road in New Sweden, north of Presque Isle.

Last month, Stefanie's parents, Christopher and Lisa Marie Damron, said the teen "got into an argument with her sister" on the day she was last seen, and then "walked off."

Meanwhile, on her Facebook page, Stefanie's mom, who did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment, has been resharing posts from police and posting her own pleas.

“Please keep your eyes open and sharing," she wrote on Sunday, Nov. 3. "Help us bring our baby girl home safe and sound."

Only the CARD Teams get involved, to my knowledge.

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says the FBI's CARD team is now involved in the search. CARD stands for Child Abduction Rapid Deployment and the mission of the team is to investigate potential crimes against children, including things like trafficking, kidnappings, and abuse.

I wonder if LE has spoken with the family yet? I guess that would depend on the reason they are holding the pressor.
