I'd welcome them.. I don't hold a grudge against him for getting married to Camilla.. She's probably a really nice lady for all we know...
I certainly don't hold a grudge against him, he can marry whomever he wants. Respect, admiration, etc. I definitely do NOT have, for either of them.

Way to go Mabel.........

I wouldn't cross the street to see them.
Neither are worthy to be noticed or excepted.

I don't have any respect for the Prince as a man. If he wanted Camilla in the first place, he should have married her, even if it meant giving up the throne. Wasn't it his Uncle/Great Uncle who married Wallace Simpson and gave up the throne? That man had courage to go with his heart. Charles is a wimp who did what he was told, and Diana was used for this just to produce hiers and blend into the background. I really don't think the royals expected the world reaction of love and admiration for Diana. She was a naturally classy lady, a real star. JMO.

Diana`s shadow looms over Charles and Camilla

051101royalvisit.jpg

For Britain`s Prince Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, who arrived in New York Tuesday the eight-day trip to the United States is the toughest visit they could possibly have undertaken. Even eight years after her death in a Paris auto accident, America remains Princess Diana country, and her memory will loom over the royal couple`s itinerary which besides New York includes Washington DC, and San Francisco, and a side trip to Hurricane Katrina-stricken New Orleans added at the last minute.

The December issue of Vanity Fair reaching the newsstands this week underlines the enduring affection that Americans still have for the glamorous late Princess of Wales. The trendy New York glossy carries several pages of hitherto unpublished photos of Diana taken in an East London studio by photographer Mario Testino very shortly before her death. Advanced television coverage of the visit has dredged up shots of Diana in a black sheath evening dress at the 1985 White House dinner in her honor, dancing with movie star John Travolta.

This is Charles` first official U.S. visit since that occasion. At the time, Diana was 24 years old, and the prince 37. Now he`s 56, and Camilla 58; and the U.S. press has carried unflattering comparisons with that earlier visit that do not bode well for its success. On Monday, the Miami Herald called the Charles and Camilla visit 'the un-Diana tour, in which a couple of middle-aged, earnest eccentrics from the English countryside take an educational holiday abroad.' Meanwhile, a Gallup poll published Monday found that 81 percent of Americans have no interest in the royal tour -- although 30 percent said they would like to meet Prince William, the heir to the throne and his younger brother Prince Harry.

If one purpose behind the trip was to give Camilla international exposure the choice of the United States was clearly made on the basis that if the Duchess of Cornwall was a success here she would be a success anywhere. But the London Daily Telegraph called it 'a risky strategy.' In the years since Diana`s death Prince Charles is known to have resisted requests by the British government for an official U.S. trip. On Monday, Mark Bolland, Prince Charles` former deputy private secretary, was quoted in the Times of London as saying, '(The Prince) was always nervous of America -- fearing rejection by a culture that he saw as being more aligned to the Princess of Wales`s celebrity than his man-with-a-mission message.'

What was His Royal Highness's tampon thinking in that first photo by Casshew?

She and Charles only seem true to themselves when they are dressed in Wellies and country cords, mucking about on their horses through the heath in Scotland.. They always made such a HUGE deal out of their shared love for the country set..
So why is she half-dressed, kneeled over a footstool or something with a glass of champagne in her hand?

I can tolerate their absolute frumpiness, but not their attempts to be the jet setting " Royals". Titles infer a certain bearing.
These two have to work too hard to capture a moment of what Diana exuded every second of her beautiful life.

Diana haunting them? I hope so, I truly hope so. He used a beautiful young woman as a brood mare while in love with a woman he couldn't have at the time.
I dislike Charles and his choices intensely, especially when she's clad like the first photo.

Note to Camilla: Some people are born with grace. Some aquire it with age.
You have done neither. Exchange the tacky cleavage shot for one in your hacking clothes and be the nature lover Chas has loved all his manipulated and manipulative adult life.

Well, what do we want the monarchs to be - Jessica Simpson & Nick Lahey???

I think this thread is extremely tacky for the most part.

These are not movie stars we are talking about here, they are foreign dignitaries and Royalty. Whether we think they're beautiful or not, they are intelligent and have WORLDS of money to give away to charities.

Yes, Prince Charles has many charities and philanthopic projects, and the boys are REQUIRED to do the same. They also participate in their own MILITARY.

I loved Diana also, but I do not think she would want Americans being tacky about her family.

All I here over on the Political Forum is IRaq war, Iraq war, yammer, yammer yammer; how patriotic we must be.

And then we want to believe what we hear in the media and just trash these people. Well not me. They are our allies.

I don't care how much money he has and as for intelligence, well I suppose that's in the eye of the beholder. I am not impressed with their titles or lifestyles. Charles is a :loser: by my standards. How can you "admire" him and excuse his behavior?

You don't think Diana would want anyone to be "tacky about her family"? I beg your pardon, I lack the psychic ability or the audacity to even begin to think, I know how someone would think... someone I never met and is now deceased. Geeesh

MarthaTex - with all due respect to you (and your entitled opinion!) - may I remind you that Diana never considered Camilla any part of "her family". As for Charles - Diana had divorced him - he was no longer "her family". Diana's immediate family, at the time of her untimely death, were "her 2 boys" - William & Harry. I don't hear anyone verbalizing a negative opinion (or trashing) either of Princess Diana's sons.

I'm sorry you feel it is "so tacky" to voice our honest opinions about Charles & Camilla here on "an opinion forum". According to the majority of news reports I've read & heard - our voices & feelings about the Royal duo appear to be in keeping with the majority of Americans. Like approximately 80% of them!

The word "dignitaries" implies *dignity* - a quality I found lacking in these two "Royals". "Tacky & undignified" are words I would have reserved for their past behavior.

In my world - respect & admiration for others is earned .. it has absolutely nothing to do with having "WORLDS of money". BTW - the "worlds of money" and philanthropic endeavors of the "Prince's Trust" is taxpayer money earned by the British people - not Charles or the Royal family. Their lavish "Royal lifestyles" are courtesy of "the people" - the hard working British subjects that support them.

Yes, the British have been our allies in the current *war on terror*. I would say we had Prime minister Tony Blair to thank for British participation - not Charles & Camilla.

You know, I loved Diana too. She was very likable, very poised, and just seemed like such a wonderful person, but........now dont shoot me.....I think she knew exactly what she was doing when she married Charles, I dont believe she was as niave and innocent as some want to believe, she knew what she was getting into and she did it anyway.

Now, I cant stand Charles and think he is quite homely, but I do not be-grudge him his happiness, and I hope him and Camilla are very happy. They waited long enough to be together. The whole system is screwed up, in my opinion. Charles should have been allowed to marry Camilla in the first place and NOT loose his title.

In any case, I would not go out of my way to meet them either, but I wont go out of my way to slam them either. I hope they finally find happiness. I wish that Diana was still around to finally find her happiness too!

Just my opinion

Well said 13th juror!

Diana was kind, caring, & loved by the world! She was the Queen of the People! Always will be........

Camilla ranks as the other woman & always will.
She has a ring on her finger & Charles. She don't get my respect/ & neither does Charles. :loser: He finally married her & they deserve each other.
Diana haunting them........
