It's interesting though 'cause even though 500 is a huge number to ask for credentials; I feel like our sources for information about this case are just HLN/CNN, TruTV and local Florida media. Maybe a lot of the media people who asked for credentials are just planning on covering the verdict and not every day of the trial? I don't remember OJ's trial since I was too young, but I believe the reason that case had so much media coverage was because everyday of the trial (and it lasted for over a year; pretty sure), was huge national news. But I don't think this trial will be anywhere near the level of OJ; maybe more on the level of the Danielle Van Dam trial where it is huge news on a local level, and on certain channels like CourtTV/TruTV, but something that you could avoid (if you lived outside of the metro area) pretty easily if you chose to. I don't really get when people start calling this trial "the trial of the century" Maybe in Orlando or even the entire state of Florida, but I don't think so on a national level. Heck, I can just type "OJ" and you all know what I'm talking about, but if I said "Casey" to most people, I don't know how many would immediately think of this case and the impending trial.
