UPDATED: New Anthony Attorney To Formally Enter Case
Defense Needed Lyon To Try Death Penality Case
POSTED: 12:24 pm EDT June 5, 2009
UPDATED: 6:10 pm EDT June 5, 2009

In a motion, Chicago attorney Andrea Lyon included a copy of her bar certificate from the state of Michigan.

Meanwhile, in the civil case against Anthony, her lawyer is now asking the judge to delay the defamation case until after her death penalty trial is over.

While Anthony is facing the possibility of capitol punishment, Hornsby said it's not fair that Gonzalez's civil suit has been allowed to go on.

In a phone conversation with WESH 2, Anthony's lawyer, Jonathan Kasen, said he's hopeful the judge will grant this motion. However, the judge is not scheduled to hear it until September.

In a new motion, Baez argues Kronk's statements surrounding his discovery of Caylee's remains are quote "layered with inconsistencies."

Baez is taking another crack at getting access to Kronk's phone records. Baez said he wants the records to investigate the alleged inconsistencies.

In his motion, Baez also made a case for why he's entitled to phone records from Anthony's close friends Jesse Grund and Amy Huizenga. Grund's lawyer has filed for a protective order, so the issue is headed back to court.

Meanwhile, defense lawyers are expected to question a key witness again on Monday, in the case against Casey Anthony.

Jose Baez will once again interview Orange County deputy, Adriana Acevedo, even though he already took her deposition once before.

In 2008, Acevedo responded twice to a wooded area where a child's remains were found and were later identified as Caylee Anthony on December 11.

Casey Anthony's defense team outline reason for cell phone requests
6:10 PM EDT, June 5, 2009
<snipped>
Casey Anthony's defense team filed court documents today that outlined why they wanted phone records from a friend, a former boyfriend and an Orange County meter reader who found Caylee's remains.

Baez wrote in the request that Kronk had given statements with "inconsistencies," that the defense wants to investigate. He requested Kronk's cell records between June 2008 and now.

For Huizenga, the defense wants records between March 2008 and February 2009. Anthony and her friend were in "constant communication" before and after Caylee disappeared.

For Grund, the defense is asking for records from March 2008 and February 2009. Grund spoke to potential witnesses before and after Caylee's disappearance.

Casey Anthony: Jose Baez casting new doubts on meter reader
posted by halboedeker on Jun 5, 2009 6:24:52 PM
<snipped>
Baez seeks Kronk's phone records to explore the cited inconsistencies. What does the new motion mean? WESH called on Orlando defense attorney Richard Hornsby for analysis. "In [Baez's] mind, Roy Kronk is ... as suspect as anything that Casey Anthony has said or done," Hornsby said.

Kronk attorney David Evans defended his client in the WESH report. "He's told his story truthfully from day one, will continue to do that, and so I don't think it's inconsistent at all," Evans told Kealing.

Kealing again turned to Hornsby for analysis. "There's no way that she can defend herself with the death- penalty case pending over her head," Hornsby said. "What person would go and walk into a civil courtroom or deposition ... knowing that every word she says could be used against her."

Casey Anthony's defense team is expected to question a key witness for a second time Monday.

Casey's attorney, Jose Baez, will interview Orange County Deputy Adriana Acevedo at 2:00pm, even though he already took her deposition once before.

Acevedo refused to answer questions during the first deposition. In 2008, Acevedo responded twice to a wooded area where a child's remains were found and were later identified as Caylee Anthony on December 11.

George and Cindy Anthony will not face charges in connection with a criminal complaint filed by a pair of local women last week, Orange County Sheriff's Department Corporal Susan Soto said.

The women filed a complaint saying that Cindy Anthony took down their memorial cross to Caylee, then, along with George Anthony, chased them out of the neighborhood.

The Anthonys' lawyer, Brad Conway, said the incident did not happen that way at that the women nearly ran over George Anthony.

Caylee Anthony dollmaker announces book
Jacksonville man who sold doll inspired by slain toddler Caylee Marie Anthony announces new book.
10:13 AM EDT, June 8, 2009
<snipped>
A Jacksonville man who came under harsh criticism for hawking a Caylee Marie Anthony doll has now introduced a book detailing the inspiration for his ideas.

Jaime Salcedo unveiled the doll in January, saying that the profits from the nearly $30 doll would be distributed to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

A news release from Salcedo this weekend said the book will detail the creative process of such toys as the Caylee-inspired Sunshine doll and the chew toy in the likeness of suspended NFL star Michael Vick -- from conception to controversy.

The book, whose working title is "Inc(read)ible: From a Famous Dog Chew Toy to an Ever Inspiring Doll Collection," is set to hit bookstores this fall. The news release does not give a price.

George, Cindy Won't Face Charges Over Allegations

George and Cindy Anthony, the parents of accused killer Casey Anthony, managed to catch a break. They will not face any charges over allegations that they tried to attack three people because of a memorial for Caylee Anthony.

Last week, Lois Peter and three of her friends from St. Cloud reported the Anthonys to the sheriff's office. They say the Anthonys chased them, because they took pictures of George and Cindy destroying crosses at Caylee's memorial.

BAEZ FILES MOTION TO POSTPONE HEARING

Late Monday afternoon, the Casey Anthony's defense team announced it filed another motion.

Monday, Baez asked the court to postpone the next hearing in regards to that tape.

Two weeks ago, the judge delayed his decision on the issue so that lawyers representing the media could weigh in.

Casey Anthony's defense team wants judge to delay jail video release decision
6:31 PM EDT, June 8, 2009
<snipped>
Casey Anthony's defense team wants a judge to postpone his decision on whether to release a jail video of Anthony so they have more time to investigate media leaks by the state.

Her defense team doesn't want the video of her in the medical facility made public. The media does and have filed legal requests. Prosecutors say they have no preference.

Defense attorneys Jose Baez and Andrea Lyon asked for 60 days to look into reports of media leaks by investigators. The extra time also would allow Lyon a death penalty attorney new to the case to catch up on all the material.

The five-page motion lists various media reports during the last year that cited "sources close to the investigation." The leaks lead to reports that will prevent Anthony from receiving a fair trial, according to the legal documents.

Casey Anthony: Defense team decries state's 'orchestrated' leaks
posted by halboedeker on Jun 8, 2009 6:54:27 PM
<snipped>
Casey Anthony's defense team has hit back hard at the state. The defense team is accusing the state of misconduct in leaking information to the media.

Or ask WKMG-Channel 6's Mike DeForest put it: "The defense claims those leaks have been orchestrated to make Casey look bad and in the process jeopardize her right to a free trial."

The defense team lays out the misconduct allegations in a motion to block the release of a jail video showing Casey Anthony's reactions to the discovery of Caylee's remains. Anthony is charged with the first-degree murder of her young daughter.

In the papers filed with the court, the defense team bemoans "a continued and consistent pattern of leaks, distortions and misconduct on the part of Orange County and the state."

In analysis, DeForest said the motion reflected the influence of new defense team member Andrea Lyon.

911 Call Released Of Woman Claiming Anthonys Chased Her

Lois Peter told investigators that the Anthonys tried to attack her and three of her friends last week, but Monday investigators said they won't pursue any charges against the Anthonys.

In Peter's call to 911, she said the Anthonys chased them because they had taken pictures of George and Cindy destroying crosses at Caylee's memorial.

The next day, the group filed a complaint against the Anthonys with the sheriff's office, but investigators have determined the incident did not warrant criminal charges.

Anthony Attorney Wants Delay On Video Decison
Baez Argues Video Part Of State Misconduct
POSTED: 11:15 am EDT June 9, 2009
UPDATED: 3:06 pm EDT June 9, 2009
<snipped>
Casey Anthony's attorney Jose Baez wants a judge to delay the decision on whether a video of Anthony's reaction to the discovery of a child's remains on Surburban Drive – even as media outlets lineup to fight for the tape's release.

"The pattern of leaks raises a clear inference of an attempt to create a presumption of guilt in the mind of the public," Baez said.

The defense team has also argued that Anthony's right to medical privacy would be violated with the tape's release, even though Baez's motion says Anthony received no medical treatment while at the nurse's office.

Some lawyers WESH 2 spoke to argued that a video of Casey reacting emotionally to the discovery of a child's remains could also be interpreted as evidence she did not know her daughter was dead, so releasing it to the public would not be as harmful to her case as Baez has said.

Casey Anthony wanted to watch news on day Caylee was found
posted by halboedeker on Jun 9, 2009 6:03:53 PM
<snipped>
Anthony wanted to watch the news, a corrections sergeant said in an April deposition. WESH-Channel 2's Bob Kealing reported the deposition details this evening.

The officer, Billy Richardson, had escorted Anthony to a nurse's station on Dec. 11. On that day, a child's remains were found -- they were later identified as Caylee. Anthony is charged with the first-degree murder of her daughter.

Anthony's defense team is trying to block the release of a jail video of her reaction on Dec. 11.

In his deposition, Sgt. Richardson said Anthony was listening to a radio in her cell on Dec. 11 and wanted to know more about what was happening. Her reaction to learning more from television? She became sick to her stomach and felt like throwing up, Richardson said.

UPDATED: Anthony Attorney Seeks P.I.'s Phone Records
Officer: Anthony Wanted To See Remains Coverage
POSTED: 12:12 pm EDT June 10, 2009
UPDATED: 4:34 pm EDT June 10, 2009

In a new motion filed Wednesday by Jose Baez, Casey Anthony's attorney, he asked the court to strike a protective order request from private eye Dominic Casey.

In the meantime on Monday, George and Cindy Anthony signed a notarized statement giving Baez access to any privileged phone communications they had with Dominic Casey while he was working for them.

The motion is further indication that anyone who went into that wooded area before Caylee's remains were found will face intense scrutiny from Casey Anthony's defense to ensure what they've claimed checks out.

The Anthony's lawyer said Dominic Casey's phone records will prove Casey was not talking to anyone in the Anthony family during his November search of the woods.

In his deposition, Richardson said, "When I went down there to get her and told her to go to the clinic, she was listening to the radio."
He claims her reply back was "Good, because there something going on and I want to watch TV to know about it."

Baez Demands P.I.'s Phone Records
New Motion Calls For Dominic Casey's Personal Phone Records
POSTED: Wednesday, June 10, 2009
UPDATED: 1:39 pm EDT June 10, 2009
<snipped>
The motion does not specifically accuse private investigator Dominic Casey of wrongdoing, but it does raise questions about his honesty and his repeated visits to the woods where Caylee Anthony's remains were later found, Local 6 reporter Mike DeForest said.

Defense attorney Jose Baez filed the new motion Wednesday, which is demanding Casey's private cell phone records. Baez said Casey gave inconsistent statements about who is seen speaking on the phone with in a video recording of one of his searches.

Casey's attorney said the motion is a simple dispute over phone records and she hopes Anthony's defense team is not trying to implicate her client in a crime. She said she has worked out an agreement with Baez to turn over phone records.

The Florida Bar is investigating complaints filed against Baez by Casey. Casey said Baez told him not to call 911 if he found Caylee's body. Baez has disputed that claim.

Casey Anthony's defense team wants private investigator's phone records
The private investigator, who also worked for Casey Anthony's parents, considers those records part of his job duties and are considered "privileged and work product."
4:09 PM EDT, June 10, 2009

Casey Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, wrote in the court papers that Dominic Casey gave "inconsistent stories" explaining why he was there. He first claimed he was speaking to his daughter while out there but then later said it was to a psychic, according to the motion.

Baez also included a document from his client's parents, George Anthony and Cindy Anthony, that waived their privilege.

The defense wants cell records from July 2008 to now.

The judge has not ruled on the issue.

Casey Anthony: Defense team cites private eye's inconsistent statements
posted by halboedeker on Jun 10, 2009 1:07:12 PM

The defense team seeks access to Dominic Casey's phone records. The new motion notes that Dominic Casey told another private eye that he knew where Caylee's remains were, DeForest said. Anthony is charged with the first-degree murder of her daughter.

What does it all mean?

It's all "a simple dispute over cell-phone records," the lawyer for Dominic Casey told WKMG. The lawyer added that she "hopes Casey Anthony's defense team is not trying to implicate the private investigator in any sort of crime."

The lawyer told DeForest that an agreement over the cell-phone records has been reached with Casey Anthony's team. So where does it stand? We'll wait to learn more.
