Casey Anthony: Stations focus on Anthony family fight over search for Caylee

WKMG&#8217;s Tony Pipitone described &#8220;the angry exchange&#8221; between George and his daughter. &#8220;EquuSearch officials in the home say George tried to get her to mark on a map with an X where they should begin their search, but she refused,&#8221; Pipitone said. That prompted &#8220;George to get angry at her, Casey to storm off into the bedroom and Cindy also to show some anger at the situation.&#8221;

Belich described Miller as saying that Casey &#8220;acted more like she was going to a cheerleading competition, always smiling, laughing and giggling.&#8221;

Pipitone also called attention to the news that Ricardo Morales, a former Casey boyfriend, had sold two photos of Caylee to the Globe tabloid. The pictures show the toddler in a shirt with the word &#8220;Big Trouble Comes in Little Packages.&#8221; The child&#8217;s remains apparently were later found with that shirt, Pipitone said.

George and Cindy Anthony&#8217;s Body Language Shows Trouble in Their Relationship

In this photo we see too much physical distance between them. When a couple is connected even if they are an old married couple who have been married for decades, the physical distance between them is not as great as we see with Cindy and George.

George is stiff in his body language as you can see by the rigidity in his muscles. When people are that tense looking around one another it usually means that they don&#8217;t really like one another that much.

Also George is looking down ands she is giving a phony smile for the cameras. When a couple isn&#8217;t looking in the same direction, it means that they are not like minded. George&#8217;;s facial expression shows a phony smile as well. His lips are tight and pursed which actually shows anger. The furrowed brow and tension in his eyes also show upset. So this is NOT a happy man around Cindy.

When people really like one another the gravitate towards each other like magnets. In this case George and Cindy&#8217;s upper and lower bodies appear to repel one another.

In any event, I think that George and Cindy need to get real and stop playing games and trying to pull one over on the public that all is well between them and they are so lovey dovey when they are not! Their body language says it ALL to me !

They are better off showing up in court separately because no doubt when this is all over , when Casey will be sitting in her new prison cell on Death Row, both George and Cindy will no doubt, go their separate ways.

They will most likely write their separate books and do their separate TV appearances.

UPDATED: Casey's Newest Lawyer Brings New Dynamic To Defense

WFTV took a harder look at the newest addition to Casey's defense team, Orlando lawyer J. Cheney Mason, who says he can get Casey off, despite the evidence against her.

Channel 9 broke the story last week that Mason was on board. He has nearly 40 years of experience as a criminal defense lawyer and has won 50 first-degree murder cases.

Mason brings a dynamic, not seen yet, to Casey's defense team. He bombastic inside and outside of court and he's already made claims he'll get a not guilty verdict in Casey's murder case, but he's got hundreds of pieces of forensic evidence and testimony from more than 100 witnesses to fight against.

Mason says he's already got forensics experts volunteering to help Casey for free.

Recently, more damning evidence has come to light coming directly from Casey in 50 letters she wrote to another inmate at the Orange County jail. Investigators haven't divulged what's in the letters. WFTV asked Mason about it last week and obviously hit a nerve.

&#8220;We're gonna take a look at it and see whether it's privileged and I&#8217;m not gonna answer any more questions about it. Don't waste your time Kathi, I'm not gonna answer any more questions about it,&#8221; Mason said.

The defense is considering asking the judge to seal Casey's letters. The judge has said he's not inclined to.

George Anthony had nearly persuaded daughter Casey to identify where Caylee&#8217;s remains were &#8212; until Cindy Anthony stepped in, WFTV-Channel 9 reported tonight.

&#8220;From Tim Miller&#8217;s account, it appears that Casey knew more than she let on,&#8221; WFTV anchor Liz Artz said.

&#8220;From what Miller says, he suspected George and Cindy thought Casey knew more, judging by their bizarre actions,&#8221; WFTV&#8217;s Kathi Belich said. &#8220;George pressed Casey to mark a spot on the map to search. Cindy blew up and made Miller leave the house, and Casey went to her room.&#8221;

Miller supplied insight into what was going on in the Anthony home. He told investigators that Casey Anthony never mentioned her child.

Miller said that Casey &#8220;was not very friendly to us,&#8221; Pipitone reported.

The bad reviews just keep coming in for ABC News. Critics say the Disney-owned news organization was wrong in August 2008 to pay $200,000 to Casey Anthony and her family for photos and video of toddler Caylee Anthony.

&#8220;It doesn&#8217;t make them look very family friendly, does it?&#8221; said Andrew Tyndall, who analyzes ABC, CBS and NBC evening news in his Tyndall Report. &#8220;It&#8217;s not just ABC News. It&#8217;s the entire corporation.&#8221; &#8220;The O&#8217;Reilly Factor&#8221; on Fox News seized on the Disney connection this week.

ABC News spokeswoman Cathie Levine told the committee that the network should have disclosed the payment to viewers and that ABC had instituted a policy &#8212; because of the Anthony mistake &#8212; to do so in future reporting.

The problem wasn&#8217;t that ABC made the payment but that Anthony was indicted, news analyst Tyndall said. &#8220;I don&#8217;t think ordinary people get worried about the ethics inside the journalism profession,&#8221; he said. &#8220;What they do get worried about is the idea of money being paid to somebody accused of committing a terrible crime.&#8221;

The Society of Professional Journalists' Ethics Committee also took the network to task. In a statement this week, committee chairman Andy Schotz said paying money to sources while reporting on them "breaches basic journalism ethics." "ABC's failure to disclose this business relationship as part of its coverage the last two years made the breach worse," he said.

ABC News was not the only news organization to pay the Anthonys. CBS News paid George and Cindy Anthony, Casey Anthony's parents, $20,000 to license material. The parents appeared on "48 Hours Mystery" last fall.

The problem wasn't that ABC made the payment but that Anthony was indicted, Tyndall said. "I don't think ordinary people get worried about the ethics inside the journalism profession," he said. "What they do get worried about is the idea of money being paid to somebody accused of committing a terrible crime."

The Society of Professional Journalists' Ethics Committee condemns the growing trend of &#8220;checkbook journalism&#8221; at major broadcast networks. On Thursday, during a pretrial hearing in Orlando, Fla., to determine if Casey Anthony &#8212; accused of murdering her daughter &#8212; is indigent, her attorney revealed that ABC News paid Anthony's family $200,000.

The SPJ Ethics Committee says news organizations that pay sources, for whatever reason, while covering them inject themselves in those stories and develop an "ownership" interest. The public can legitimately question a news organization's credibility and doubt whether its reports are fair and accurate.

The SPJ Code of Ethics says journalists should:
&#8226; Avoid conflicts of interest, real or perceived.
&#8226; Be wary of sources offering information for favors or money; avoid bidding for news.

The Ethics Committee is troubled by how widespread the practice of paying sources has become and the extravagant amounts of money changing hands.

"News organizations that claim they're getting free interviews or access after giving sources thousands of dollars in cash or gifts are being disingenuous," Schotz said. "It's time to end this unethical shell game."

River Cruz's sister told WFTV she was taken by ambulance to Florida Hospital South after Cruz took a bottle of pills.

Cruz posted this on her Twitter page around 6:00pm Thursday night: &#8220;That whole family knew what happened with Caylee. I'm tired of all this. I never wanted any of this, so now it&#8217;s time." She later posted, in all caps, &#8220;SUICIDE PACT."

Paul Warner Powell is set to die in Virginia's electric chair for the murder and rape of a Manassas teenager. While the victim's family is seeking closure from the execution, a leading defense attorney says death is not the answer.

Andrea Lyon spends her life trying to save the lives of people convicted of capital crimes. Nineteen times she has represented a client found guilty of capital murder. All 19 times her clients' life were spared.

She says no matter what her clients have done or haven't done, she believes they are a human beings of value. She believes people can change for the better and believes in redemption.

Does she ever favor the death penalty? No. But she says don't get her wrong. She does want dangerous people off the streets and says "that's why we have prisons."

Lyon is the first woman in the nation to serve as lead defense attorney on a death penalty case. Over the past 30 years, she has defended and tried more than 130 murder cases, all for clients who couldn't afford attorneys.
