Judge allows use of graphic video in Casey Anthony trial
"Snip" By the CNN Wire Staff June 11, 2011 6:19 a.m. EDT

Orlando (CNN) -- The defense is calling the prosecution's use of a graphic video that features a smiling Caylee Anthony with a skull and duct tape superimposed over her face highly prejudicial, saying it only serves to inflame the jurors.

The accusation came in the third week of the trial of Caylee's mother, 25-year-old Casey Anthony, who faces seven counts in her daughter's death, including first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and misleading investigators.

Casey Anthony: Dr. G electrifies court with her professionalism

Dr. Jan Garavaglia has impressed millions as the star of “Dr. G: Medical Examiner.”

She undoubtedly won many new admirers among the people following the Casey Anthony trial.

The chief medical examiner was in top form Friday afternoon, delivering her no-nonsense testimony persuasively. With her words, Garavaglia became a strong advocate for the victim, Caylee Anthony. Casey Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in Caylee’s death.

The TV commentators were giving Garavaglia high marks for helping the state’s case and flustering defense attorney Cheney Mason.

Casey Anthony: How did Caylee skull animation go over?

"Snip" posted by halboedeker on June, 10 2011

Jackie Fell described the video as “a picture of a smiling little girl and then it morphed essentially into a skull.” News 13 reported that juror No. 5 stopped watching the video and Casey Anthony mouthed her disgust.

Tony Pipitone said he looked at the jury when the video was shown. “It was clear they were watching every second of it. It lasted about four to five minutes,” Pipitone said. His take: Juror No. 4, who has trouble judging others, had a forlorn look. Juror No. 5 stopped watching after a while, then looked toward the defense table. Casey Anthony kept her eyes downcast.

Bob Kealing said that Anthony turned angry when the video by Dr. Michael Warren was shown a first time, away from the jury.

Could Body Tampering Allegation Shake Case?
"Snip" By MIGUEL SANCHO and ALICE GOMSTYN (@AliceGomstyn)
June 11, 2011

Kronk said in 2008 that he "discovered and reported to my management and appropriate authorities the remains of a human body located in a wooded area."

Recently, a lawyer for Kronk released a statement rejecting Baez's claims, saying: "This defense theory regarding Mr. Kronk is completely false. The suggestion that Mr. Kronk took possession of Caylee's remains is totally lacking in logic or explanation. It did not happen."

The prosecution has not directly addressed the allegation that the body was tampered with but forensic anthropologist John Schultz testified Friday that Caylee's vertebrae were found all in the same place, a sign that the body was intact when it was brought there. He estimated that the body may have been there as long as six months.

Day 16: Coffin Flies, Garbage Vs. Trash
Forensic Entomologist Discusses Insects Found On Remains

"Snip" June 11, 2011

Forensic entomologist Dr. Neal Haskell testified that Caylee Anthony's body was in the woods since June or early July of 2008.
The types of bugs found at the crime scene indicated Caylee's body had been there a long time.

Haskell also testified the number of flies found on the body were not in the tens of thousands, and only one leg of a fly was found in the trash bag retrieved at Johnson's , the tow yard that Casey's car had been taken to.

Haskell also testified bugs found in Casey's car trunk showed Caylee's body was there for a short time before being removed

Jurors appeared bored during the testimony of Haskell. They enjoyed one moment when Haskell made the distinction between garbage and trash.

Today more photos of the crime scene were entered into evidence and some showed bones.

Caylee's skull was 19 feet 8 inches from the road.

Insect Expert Testifies On Flies Found In Casey's Trunk

"Snip" Updated: 12:07 pm EDT June 11, 2011

Haskell, a forensic entomologist testified that the insects found in Casey's trunk were related to decomposition.

Haskell tstified the flies were feeding on a substance ( decomposition fluid) on the paper towels. He said the source of the decomposition fluids that attracted the bugs probably would have been in the car for several days.

Haskell said, insect evidence at the scene where Caylee’s remains were recovered indicated that the body had been out there for months, that the evidence is consistent with a body being left inside the trunk for a short period of time and then removed.

Prosecutors believe Caylee's body was kept in the car before being left in a wooded area near Casey's home.

Casey Anthony's trial is one hot ticket
By Ann O'Neill, CNN
June 12, 2011 2:49 a.m. EDT

...As the lines swell and emotions flare, keeping the peace is a challenge. On Friday, paramedics carted a woman away on a stretcher after a confrontation with a trio of would-be line jumpers.

And so, red and blue police lights flashed in the humid, predawn darkness Saturday as the line in front of the Orange County Courthouse grew to 100 strong. Courthouse security officers, Orange County sheriff's deputies and Orlando city police were out in force and people in line were cautioned that anyone who caused trouble would lose their spot. Anyone who stampeded would be arrested....

There are 50 available seats so why are there 100 people in line? After the first fifty the cops should tell everyone else to leave. JMO

Casey Anthony trial: Jurors look at photos, hear from crime-scene, insect experts
"Snip" By Anthony Colarossi, Orlando Sentinel

8:44 p.m. EDT, June 11, 2011 (Page1-6)

After two days of emotion-jarring testimony, prosecutors on Saturday largely shifted back to the more-mundane science behind their case to convict Casey Anthony of her daughter's death.

Neal Haskell, an expert in forensic entomology testified that flies and fly larvae found in materials collected from Casey Anthony's car trunk were signs that a decomposing body had been there.

He said the bugs were attracted by fluids from a body that probably spent three to five days in the car. The flies were among the trash, especially paper towels, left in the Pontiac's trunk.

The entomologist primarily found examples of Phoridae, which resembles the fruit fly but is often called a coffin fly because of its tendency to feed on and reproduce in corpses.

Casey Anthony: Geraldo Rivera shows Caylee’s skull photo
"Snip"— posted by halboedeker on June, 12 2011 11:46 AM
Nobody does it like Geraldo Rivera, and we can be grateful there is only one of him.

Consider that graphic animation of Caylee Anthony’s face turning into a skull. Before the state showed the animation Friday, Chief Judge Belvin Perry reminded everyone that the media were aware of restrictions on showing the images by Dr. Michael Warren, a prosecution witness.

The two media pools — the Orlando Sentinel and “In Session” — understood they were to pixelate and blur the images, Perry said. And the judge noted there was ”an absolute prohibition” on the public as well.

But Rivera showed the Caylee skull image on his Fox News Channel show, “Geraldo at Large,” last night. And the animation didn’t look pixelated or blurred.

“Nothing matches the following animation created by a prosecution witness to show jurors one possible way that duct tape may have been used to kill Caylee Marie,” Rivera said. Rivera warned, “It is ugly to watch.”
