Haleigh Cummings’ family and friends reached out to race fans at the Putnam County Speedway Saturday night.
They sold t-shirts with Haleigh’s picture, gave out wrist bands with her name and collected donations for the Haleigh Bug foundation.

Supporters say this is not only a way of getting support to help Haleigh’s mother during the investigation, it keeps Haleigh’s name and face in the hearts and minds of the community.
Haleigh’s family and friends plan to visit every fair, festival and in this case racing event they can in order to maintain community support until Haleigh is found.

Sheffield was taken by ambulance to the Putnam Community Medical Center along with her 11 month old daughter. Sheffield was admitted, hooked up to oxygen, and monitored. Her daughter was looked after, and was immediately released suffering no injuries.
Friends tell us both Crystal and her daughter were wearing seatbelts. We’re told the 11 month old was strapped into a child seat. The only visible damage on the outside of Sheffield’s SUV was a slight dent in the front bumper. Witnesses say the other car suffered no damage.

Sheffield’s family says this is the second seizure Crystal has ever gone through. They tell us she suffered her first two days before Haleigh was taken. Family says she did go to the doctor then, but hasn’t been able to do any follow-up visits since her daughter’s disappearance.

Teachers, Schoolmate Wait Hopeful For Haleigh's Return

"We're still waiting for her return and planning a homecoming for when she gets here," said Principal Debra Buckler.
Yellow ribbons remain wrapped around trees all around the school. Inside, Buckler said the signs that Haleigh is still missing are obvious.

"It is very hard to look at that little empty chair every day. Her cubby still has some of her things in it, and she's still on the role, and we're still hoping for her to come back," Buckler said.
She said students at the school are still asking about Haleigh, hoping their classmate will return soon.
"Our hope, and will continue be, that Haleigh will return to us and we'll have a nice homecoming for her and a big party and celebration," said Assistant Principal Tim Adams.

War of Words
Last Update: 3/30 11:27 pm
<snipped>
The war of words between Haleigh Cummings' parents heats up once again. A new interview with Geraldo Rivera has Ronald Cummings' attorneys playing defense.
In an attempt to gain custody of a second child Crystal Sheffield shares with Cummings, Sheffield and her attorney spoke to Geraldo about claims of child abuse and drug abuse in the Cummings household.

But as the bickering continues, both sides of the family believe this case has lost its focus. "The main purpose is to find Haleigh," says family friend, Debbie Huddleston.
It's been almost two months since anyone has seen Haleigh Cummings. And police still don't any concrete leads as to where she might be.

Haleigh Cummings Mother Suffers Second Seizure
Last Update: 7:44 pm
<snipped>
For the first time since its doors have been opened, the Haleigh Bug Foundation is missing one of its prime components. Crystal Sheffield, Haleigh Cummings mother, was forced to stay home and rest after suffering her second seizure in less than 24 hours.

Crystal Sheffield suffered the second seizure shortly after being discharged from the Putnam Community Medical Center Monday. Her fiancé picked her up and the two were on their way to her father’s house to pick up their 11-month-old daughter. During that car ride, Crystal suffered her seizure and was taken to Flagler Hospital.

Sheffield is expected to be fine. Family friends tell us she’s going to see specialists soon who can help her with aftercare.

Sheriff: Feud Between Haleigh's Parents Not Helping Case
Missing 5-Year-Old Girl Last Seen In Early February

"The investigation has had so many different angles to it that it's been extremely difficult to try to narrow and focus it down to where it needs to be. Also, as previously reported, there have been so many inconsistencies in statements and stories."

Some of the inconsistencies have come from the last person who saw Haleigh -- Misty Croslin, the 17-year-old who recently married Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings.
The sheriff couldn't talk about her specific statements, but he did talk about the suddenly public and angry battle of words between Cummings and Haleigh's mother, Crystal Sheffield.

The sheriff said their fight is not helping his investigation.
"Unfortunately, in the last few weeks, it seems to have lost the focus of what our mission is here," Hardy said.
The goal is still to find Haleigh -- or answers -- after seven weeks of searching.

“What’s going on in Putnam County? Somebody’s not doing their job! And my grand daughter’s been gone too long now,” said Marie Griffis.
“I’m mad! I’m mad because my granddaughter’s gone, and somebody’s going to account for her…I’m tired of this, and it’s gone on too long.”
Griffis also says she shares in the frustration that tips are starting to come in more slowly.
“I will accept any help from anybody who wants to tell me anything about my granddaughter.”

Inside the Haleigh Bug Foundation we have learned members of Haleigh’s family will march in Crescent City’s annual Catfish Festival this upcoming weekend. They tell us they plan on marching alongside children who knew Haleigh. Adults and kids will pass out flyers and wear shirts showing Haleigh’s face to keep people on the lookout.
The Haleigh Bug Foundation has also set up a new permanent land-line where you can phone in donations. To reach volunteers, call (386) 649-9078.

He said while tips have declined, his office still receives information and all it will take is one good tip to break the case.
Hardy also said Misty Croslin Cummings is the key to the investigation because she was the last one who saw Haleigh on February 9.
Hardy said there are still inconsistencies in Misty's story about that night.

He said some of the brightest minds in law enforcement have spoken to Misty and still have not been able to get a clear understanding of what happened Feb. 9th.
Haleigh's mother's attorney, Kim Picazio, told First Coast News she and her staff have talked to eyewitnesses who saw Misty partying outside of the home that night.
Hardy said his office has received information from Picazio.
Hardy said, "All the civil stuff going on around us is distracting, but it's not taking us away from our investigation."

When many people think of parades, they probably have visions of floats and balloons, with plenty of food and smiles. At this year’s Catfish Festival in Crescent City, many will see something new. They’ll see Haleigh Bug Foundation volunteers passing out flyers with the missing 5-year-old’s photo.

After Saturday’s Catfish Festival Parade, Huddleston says the group will be heading to the Putnam County Raceway where the organizer there has agreed to donate the night’s proceeds to the Haleigh Bug Foundation. Huddleston also says she’s doing her best to get the foundations involved with the Green Cove State Fair. She wants to hopefully set

Residents worry about missing child

"Maybe they weren't the parents of the year, but the community has overlooked that, and has extended out their hand in every which way," Kellie said. "There's so many questions about the family, and our community has said, 'Yeah, maybe I don't agree with that, but Haleigh needs us.'"

Family feud takes focus off search for Haleigh

The feud has complicated law enforcement efforts and provided a bitter sideshow with roots that go back years.
"It's not helping," Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy said Thursday. "Now we've got lawyers involved. Lines of communication don't seem as accessible."

Bad history
Court records and interviews with those in both camps show a history of resentments and mistrust.

Cheap shots
Kimball, a Putnam County attorney who took the case more than a month after Haleigh disappeared, said Sheffield's appearances on TV shows, including with Nancy Grace and Geraldo Rivera, are cheap shots.

Separate ways
Last week, Cummings and Sheffield were no longer at ground zero in their separate camps near where Haleigh disappeared. Cummings' mother and friends were removing the last of the belongings from inside, including clearing out Haleigh's room.

5-Year-Old Missing Since February

Tuesday marked the two-month anniversary of the disappearance of 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings.

The tents in Haleigh's community where family members had taken up residence during the search were vacated six weeks after the child's disappearance.
Signs asking about Haleigh's whereabouts remain throughout Putnam County, eight weeks after the girl disappeared.

Two months into the search, friends and neighbors said Haleigh is still on their minds.
"This is a small community. Everybody's hearts are going out to the family. And, we all still have hope. You have to have hope," said one resident.

While acknowledging on Thursday her daughter has been gone for exactly two months hasn’t been easy for Crystal Sheffield, Friday might be a tougher day. It would have been the start of Haleigh’s spring break. “It’s going to be hard without her. Her little sister’s birthday is April 15th and [Haleigh’s] not going to be here.

Since the girl’s disappearance, work continues to bring Haleigh back. Sheffield family attorney Kim Picazio said they have recently met with top investigators in the case and came away impressed.

“I am confident that they have followed every lead to the greatest extent,” said Picazio.
