The father of HaLeigh Ann-Marie Cummings, the 5-year-old girl who has been missing since she was reported missing from her Putnam County home nearly a year ago, and his ex-wife were arrested Wednesday on drug trafficking charges after a four-month undercover investigation, police said.

Ronald Lemyles Cummings, 26, has been under a media spotlight since Feb. 10, when he and his then-girlfriend called police to report HaLeigh missing.

Cummings is facing three counts of trafficking prescription medications, and his bond would be posted at $500,000.

Misty Janette Croslin, 18, is facing six counts of the same charge.
Misty Croslin’s bond was set at $1,500,000.

The Sheriff's Office said that on seven different occasions, undercover investigators purchased the painkillers Oxycodone and Hydrocodone from the suspects and estimated the "street value" of the drugs at $3,900.00.

On Wednesday, according to the release, Cummings and Croslin "purchased trafficking amounts of prescription medications from undercover investigators" and were immediately arrested.

Three others were also arrested in the ring.

Croslin’s brother, Hank "Tommy" Croslin Jr., of Satsuma, is facing one count of the trafficking charge. His bond was $100,000.

Hope A. Sykes, 18, of Satsuma, and Donna Broch, of Orlando, were also arrested.

Hope Sykes is facing one count and will be held on a $150,000 bond.
Broch is also facing one count but will be held on a $250,000 bond.

While police in Putnam County led the investigation, most of the alleged drug transactions were in St. Johns County, meaning the suspects would be prosecuted in St. Johns, said Sgt. Chuck Mulligan, a spokesman for the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.

“It’s truly a Putnam County investigation,” Mulligan said, adding that he did not know when or where the alleged drug deals took place.

Misty Croslin, Haleigh's father Ron Cummings, Misty's brother Hank Croslin, Jr. and Hope Sykes are all in jail after being charged with trafficking prescription drugs. Orlando resident Donna Broch was also arrested in connection with the others.

Ronald Cummings is being held in Flagler County after being transferred from the jail in Putnam County. He was transferred for his safety because his status was so-high profile due to the Haleigh Cummings case.

Jim Batchelor lives just two homes from the one Haleigh Cummings used to live in. In the past year, he says, not a day goes by without him thinking about her.

“All of us are hoping. Everyone who knew all of them. We're hoping. Something will happen,” he said.

Detectives believe the disappearance and drug cases will eventually cross and more will come to light about what happened to Haleigh.

“I hope they'll squeeze her until the truth comes out. If she knows anything I hope they get it out of her, because that little angel don't deserve it,” Batchelor said.

Cummings, who was once married to Croslin, faces three counts of trafficking in prescription medications and is jailed on a $500,000 bond. Croslin, 18, was charged with six counts of trafficking in prescription medications and is jailed on a $950,000 bond.

Putnam County authorities identified the other three as Misty's Croslin's brother,Hank Croslin Jr., Cummings' cousin, Hope Sykes, and Misty Croslin's friend, Donna Broch, whose photo was not available. They each face one count of trafficking in prescription medications.

Brock was allegedly involved with Misty Croslin in a road rage incident several months ago. Brock is also a former employee of Texas Equusearch, the agency that has been involved in search efforts for Cummings' daughter, Haleigh.

Greenwood said Cummings, Misty Croslin and Broch face a minimum mandatory sentence of 25 years in state prison if they are convicted while Croslin Jr. and Sykes face minimum sentences ranging from three to 15 years.

Greenwood said investigators assigned to the Haleigh Cummings investigation would take every available opportunity to speak with any individual believed to have knowledge about the girl's disappearance.

The arrests happened more than eleven months after the disappearance of Haleigh Cummings, Ronald's daughter, while in the care of Misty Croslin.

Authorities arrested five people in all. Hope Sykes, a cousin of Ronald Cummings, is among them along with Donna Broch of Orlando.

Dominick Pape with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said Thursday, "There was a series of undercover purchases that occured. During those purchases, certain individuals would show up. Not always the same people, so that's why you have different individuals. Last night the last two individuals that showed up were Misty and Croslin."

At a news conference Thursday about the latest arrest, Pape would not discuss the Haleigh Cummings investigation.

He said, "What I'm here for today is prescription pill abuse. It doesn't matter what names are on the board or who they're associated with. The message is we will investigate, we will arrest, and we will make a dent in the prescription pill abuse in the region."

When Pape was asked if the bond was set so high in order to keep Croslin and Cummings in custody for questioning in the Haleigh case, he said that the judges set the bond, not the investigators.

In a brief appearance, St. Johns County Judge Charles Tinlin told Croslin that her she is facing six counts of drug trafficking — five from Putnam County and one in St. Johns — and that her bond was set at $950,000.

Tinlin asked whether she could afford an attorney, and she said she could and already had a counselor.

Sgt. Chuck Mulligan, a spokesman for the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, said she and two other suspects — her brother, Hank “Tommy” Croslin Jr., 23, and Donna Michelle Brock, 44, of Orlando — were being held in St. Johns because a number of the alleged transactions took place here.

Cummings and another suspect, Hope A. Sykes, 18, of Satsuma, were being held in the Putnam County jail.

Ronald Cummings and Misty Croslin accused of trafficking in prescription medications

Misty Croslin and Hank Croslin Jr. are in the St. Johns County jail; Ronald Cummings is in the Flagler County jail. Misty Croslin is being held on $950,000 bail; Cummings, $500,000; Brock, $250,000; Sykes, $150,000; and Hank Croslin Jr., $100,000.

At an afternoon news conference Dominick Pape, special agent-in-charge of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement office in Jacksonville, said an investigation into where the prescription medication came from is still occurring and more arrests are expected.

Cummings and his former wife had been seeing each other occasionally and were to meet Wednesday about 5 p.m.after he finished working at a tree trimming job, his mother, Teresa Neves, said. She said she believes her son and niece were staying in contact with Misty Croslin in the hopes of learning what happened to Haleigh.

"I think she will talk with the hopes of getting out," Neves said.

She believes Misty Croslin's bail was set purposely high to keep her locked up.
"Maybe she'll flip and tell us where Haliegh is," she said. "That is the only [good] thing that can come out of this."
"He shouldn't have been talking to Misty Croslin," she said. "She brought his butt into this."

She said early Thursday it was unlikely that the family would be able to afford a bond to release Cummings, but plans to mark the year anniversary of Haleigh's disappearance were still going forward.

"Hopefully Misty will talk and Haleigh will come home," she said.
She said Cummings son Ronald Jr. is staying with Neves' mother.

Ronald Cummings was charged with three counts of trafficking in prescription medicines and was being held in the Flagler County jail on $500,000 bond. He appeared in court in Flagler County on Thursday.

Misty Cummings is charged with six counts of trafficking in prescription medications and she was being held in the St. Johns County jail on $950,000 bond. Croslin, 23, was charged with one count of trafficking in prescription medications and held in the St. Johns County jail on $100,000 bond. Both appeared in court in St. Johns County on Thursday.

Hope Sykes, of Satsuma, and Donna Broch, of Orlando, were each charged with one count of trafficking in prescription drugs and arrested in connection with what Putnam County investigators said were charges resulting from a month-long undercover investigation.

While deputies said most of the drug transactions of the undercover sting occurred in Putnam County, the final sale occurred Wednesday in St. Johns County. While the arrests were made later in the day in Putnam County, they were booked into jails in other counties.

"Given the dynamics of this case and wanting to separate the individuals to protect the integrity of that investigation ... these individuals were brought to St. Johns County as well as Flagler County," St. Johns County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Chuck Mulligan said.

Missing Haleigh Cummings: Drug bust is only the latest arrest for family
Uncategorized — posted by willoughby mariano on January, 21 2010 1:33 PM

It was a wild turn of events for a family that has recently made a habit of running afoul of the law. Cummings was arrested in August after deputy sheriffs said he had a fight with Hank Croslin Jr., Misty Croslin’s brother.

In October, Croslin said she was the victim of a robbery during a drug deal. That same month, she was handcuffed after an Interstate 4 motorist said she was involved in a road rage incident in which a gun was brandished. Croslin was released and no gun was found.

Hank Croslin Jr., who was also jailed in the drug case, was arrested in September on a grand-theft charge.

To top it off, the Croslin family patriarch Hank Croslin Sr. was arrested in a doctor-shopping case.

I wonder what Haleigh’s life was like just before she disappeared from the Croslin-Cummings double-wide. If her family’s life at the time in any way resembled their current existence, it couldn’t have been easy.

UPDATED: Cops hopeful drug bust will help solve case of missing Haleigh Cummings

"It was our undercover detective that infiltrated the group," Greenwood said today.

Today, Greenwood said the drug case and the case involving Haleigh's disappearance remain separate, but he expects the two investigations to intersect at some point in the future.

"These two investigations will collide," Greenwood said. "Their paths will cross eventually."

However, he said it was not the investigation's intent to develop the drug case in order to make progress on the young girl's disappearance, which is approaching its one-year anniversary.

"Hopefully, something will come out of it on the Haleigh side, but that was not the intention," Greenwood said. "This was totally unrelated. It was a very good narcotics case."

Misty Croslin was particularly active in the prescription drug operation, officials said. As in many other parts of Florida and the country, prescription drugs have become a growing problem in Putnam County and nearby counties.

"She [Misty Croslin] was involved in all of them [the drug purchases]," Greenwood said. "She was the common denominator in all seven buys."

Misty Croslin faces six counts of trafficking in prescription medication. She is being held on $950,000 bail. Cummings is being held on $500,000 bail for three counts of the same charge.

Hank Croslin, Sykes and Brock face one count each of the trafficking charge. Hank Croslin's bail is $100,000; Sykes is $150,000; Brock's is $250,000 bail.

Each defendant had initial appearances this morning and their bail amounts were kept the same, according to State Attorney's Office spokesman Chris Kelly.

Ronald Cummings is held at the Flagler County Jail. Misty Croslin, Hank Croslin and Brock are held at the St. Johns County Jail; and Sykes is in the Putnam County Jail, Kelly said.

Haleigh's dad, his ex-wife arrested in drug sting

Ronald Cummings, 26, faces three counts of trafficking prescription medication -- including Oxycodone and Hydrocodone. He is being held in jail on $500,000 bond, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said.

Misty Croslin, 18, faces six counts of trafficking prescription medication and is jailed on $950,000 bond.

Cummings, Croslin and the others made brief court appearances Thursday morning, said Lt. Johnny Greenwood. But the court clerk's office said it had not yet received information about whether they had been assigned attorneys.

"Even though these are totally separate, they are parallel cases, and there's no doubt in my mind these cases will cross some day," Greenwood said. "I hope that somewhere through this, the investigators in the Haleigh case will find the information they need."

Investigators said in a statement last August that they believe Croslin "continues to hold important answers in the case" but has not provided "any sort of detailed accounting of the hours during the late evening and early morning of Haleigh's disappearance."

Investigators also said that physical evidence contradicts Croslin's account.

Misty Croslin, Ron Cummings Arrested
Thursday, January 21st, 2010 at 1:44 pm
<snipped>
Almost a full year after the disappearance of Haleigh Cummings, Ronald Cummings’s then five year old daughter, he and Misty Croslin have been arrested. Haleigh was in the care of Ms. Croslin when she vanished on February 10th, 2009. Unfortunately, the arrest has nothing to do with the little girl that went missing. Or does it?

The bottom line is no one knows what happened to Haleigh that night, or if they do, they have not stepped up to the plate to find this little girl.

Ronald Cummings and Hope Sykes are being held in Putnam County, while Misty Croslin, her brother Tommy Croslin, aka Hank and Donna Brock / Broch are guests of St. John’s County jail.
Divide and conquer,anyone?

What strikes me as extremely odd is when Judge Charles Tinlin queried Misty Croslin on her ability to hire an attorney, she allegedly stated she already had one. How does an uneducated, unemployed, recently tuned 18 year old come up with funds for a lawyer? I actually have a legal income and can hardly fund a bottle of aspirin these days, let alone an attorney!

So now what? Misty Croslin, Ron Cummings arrested and it doesn’t involve Haleigh?
My hope is that yes, it really does. Facing prison terms like those mentioned above might just motivate someone to start singing like a bird, begging for a plea deal. Maybe then, the vanishing of tiny Haleigh Cummings will be solved and she can be brought home safely. If the absolute worst has occurred, she is entitled to a dignified burial.

What do you think of the Misty Croslin, Ron Cummings arrest? Is there finally hope for Haleigh?

Haleigh's Father, Ex-Stepmom, Former TES Accomplice Donna Brock: Arrested on Drug Charges

Wednesday, a multi-jurisdictional law enforcement task force arrested the father of missing Satsuma girl Haleigh Cummings, his ex-wife Misty Croslin, her brother Hank "Tommy" Croslin Jr, Hope Sykes and Donna Brock on numerous drug charges.

Former TES volunteer Donna Brock is the woman who was utilized last summer by Texas EquuSearch Director Tim Miller to be a confidant/mother figure for Misty Croslin in hopes she could get Misty to talk more openly and honestly about the night then 5-year-old Haleigh was taken from the mobile home she lived in back in February of 2009.

UPDATED: Haleigh Cummings' dad, former stepmom busted on drug charges
Last Update: 11:32 am
<snipped>
Nearly one year after her disappearance, two of the last people to see Haleigh Cummings are behind bars this morning on unrelated charges. Investigators arrested her father, former step-mother and three others late Wednesday night on drug trafficking charges.

Action News has learned Ronald Cummings is being held in the Flagler County Jail, while Misty Croslin, Hank Croslin, Hope Sykes and Donna Broch are being held in St. Johns County. Hank Croslin is Misty’s brother. Hope Sykes is Ronald Cummings’ cousin.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office tells Action News the five were arrested following a month-long undercover operation. Investigators say on seven separate occasions, they purchased the prescription drugs Oxycodone and Hydrocodone from the Croslins, Cummings, Sykes and Broch.

Action News’ Matt Saffer has been speaking to the Cummings family throughout the morning. Ronald Cummings' mother tells him that at some point today, she expects an emergency custody hearing about his young son. She says she hopes Ronnie Jr. will remain in his great-grandmother’s house, which is the same home he’s lived in with his father since Haleigh’s disappearance.

"We had a source that said they were dealing large amounts of prescription drugs. We are talking amounts that could get 25 years in prison," Greenwood said. "We do not know where they were getting the drugs from. We want to see how much further this investigation can go in that regard."

"We had a source come forward and our investigator was very good at infiltrating. We were working on it about a month," Greenwood said. Misty Croslin, Hank Croslin Jr. and Brock were taken from the Putnam County Jail to the St. Johns County Jail, where they remain incarcerated. Cummings was moved to the Flagler County Jail. Sykes remained in custody at the facility.

They were moved to jails outside of Putnam County because of past security issues with the jail and because of their notoriety, Greenwood said. Cummings and Misty Croslin were placed in separate jails to avoid the possibility of communication between them.

Misty Croslin is being held on $950,000 bail; Cummings, $500,000; Brock, $250,000; Sykes, $150,000; and Hank Croslin Jr., $100,000.

A representative of a law firm that has represented Cummings in the past said the firm has not spoken to Cummings or to law enforcement since the arrest.

Greenwood said investigators will continue to pursue Haleigh's disappearence and will use the arrests as an opportunity.

"These are two investigations that are parallel," he said. "I hope something comes of it and we can gather enough information to bring it to a conclusion."[/U]

Cops hopeful drug bust will help solve case of missing Haleigh Cummings

"Snip" By Anthony Colarossi and Willoughby Mariano, Orlando Sentinel

4:07 p.m. EST, January 21, 2010

Putnam County investigators are hopeful that Wednesday's drug arrest of Ronald Cummings and Misty Croslin will help them solve the year-old mystery of his missing, Haleigh Cummings.

Cummings, 26, and Croslin, 18, face multiple counts of trafficking charges. They were among five people arrested Wednesday in a prescription drug trafficking sting, deputy sheriffs said.

Haleigh's body has not been found. No arrests have been made in her disappearance.

The search for answers about Haleigh and the drug case are separate probes, Lt. Johnny Greenwood said, but investigators are hopeful the recent arrests will help them make their Haleigh case.
"Hopefully, something will come out of it on the Haleigh side, but that was not the intention," Greenwood said. "This was totally unrelated. It was a very good narcotics case."

Acting on information from a tipster, an undercover Putnam County detective purchased $3,900 worth of drugs from Croslin, Cummings, Brock and Hank Thomas "Tommy" Croslin Jr., 23, and Hope A. Sykes, 18. Brock's age was not available. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news...s-misty-dad-arrested-20100121,0,7483449.story

Dominick Pape, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s special agent in charge, warned the press he would not discuss the connection between Haleigh Cummings’ disappearance and Wednesday's arrests.

Haleigh vanished Feb. 10, 2009.

"I'm not going to address any questions as it relates to the Haleigh Cummings investigation," Pape sai

These arrests are part of a undercover tri-county prescription drug trafficking operation involving Oxycodone and Hydrocodone.

If convicted, Cummings could serve 43 years in prison, while Croslin could be behind bars for 74 years.

An un-named source close to the investigation told News 13 officials will use mandatory prison time Croslin is facing to try to get more information from her regarding Haleigh’s disappearance.

For Croslin, latest twist is in stark jail room

With half a dozen TV news cameras pointed her way, Misty Croslin bowed her head and sat quietly -- save for a few sniffles -- as she waited for the judge.

Over the past 345 days, the mousy, petite 18-year-old has become accustomed to being in the spotlight, though it might have been the brightest yet Thursday.

With shackles around her dainty wrists and legs, Croslin was led into a sterile room at the St. Johns County jail where she appeared before a judge via closed-circuit television, and members of the media.

After telling her that her bond had been set at $950,000, County Judge Charles J. Tinlin asked, "What do you do for a living, ma'am?"

"Nothing," she replied.

"I'm sorry?"

"Nothing."

"How do you support yourself?"

"My mom and my dad."

Croslin's brother, Hank "Tommy" Croslin Jr., 23, was also arrested and is facing one count of trafficking prescription drugs.

Before the hearing, a deputy briefly brought him into the jail's mini-courtroom before leading him back out.

"I don't really like having all these people taking my pictures, man," Hank Croslin told the deputy. :boohoo:

"You don't have a choice," the deputy said. "You're out of choices."
