Police interview Croslin
Posted: February 4, 2010 - 12:06am
<snipped>
The father of Misty Croslin begged her not to lie to police when he spoke to her in jail a few days ago.

In a visit that was videotaped at the St. Johns County jail, Hank Croslin Sr. told his daughter that any lies she told police would only bury her deeper.

In a separate conversation with her mother, Lisa Croslin, Misty said she wanted out of jail and asked if anyone was willing to bail her out.

Fighting back tears and repeatedly complaining about being in jail, Misty told her mother to keep pressuring someone to get her out. It wasn't clear from the conversation who she was talking about.

The video files did not record Misty when she talked with her father. It also did not record her mother.

That was due to a software malfunction that is now being fixed, St. Johns sheriff's spokesman Chuck Mulligan said.

Cummings and Croslin were each charged with two additional counts of trafficking in prescription medications.

They allegedly bought the drugs from undercover investigators when they were being arrested for earlier transactions.

He was served his warrant Wednesday at the Putnam County jail.

Croslin is being held in the St. Johns County jail. Her warrant will be held until she is brought back to Putnam.

The bond for each was increased by $400,000.

Calif. bounty hunter offers to post Misty Croslin's bond
February 4, 2010 "Snip"

Leonard Padilla told a local news station he offered to pay the $1.35 million bond for Misty Croslin – the last person to see Haleigh Cummins before she disappeared nearly a year ago.

Misty Croslin and Ronald Cummins, were arrested recently on drug trafficking charges. New charges were filed Wednesday against Croslin and Cummins, adding an additional $400,000 bond to each.

Padilla said he has called Croslin's attorney about the offer. It's unclear if Padilla's offer will be accepted.

A newly released jail-house call between Croslin and her mother included talk about missing Haleigh.

During the conversation, Misty is heard saying, "Mom, I want out of here. I want out so bad."

"The Haleigh stuff's got to come to an end," her mother said. "It's got to, Misty. Whatever the truth is, it's got to come out."

Misty Croslin's father's advice: 'Don't lie about nothing'

"Snip" By Larry Hannan Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010
The father of Misty Croslin begged her not to lie to police when he spoke to her in jail a few days ago.

In a visit that was videotaped at the St. Johns County jail, Hank Croslin Sr. told his daughter that any lies she told police would only bury her deeper.

“Tell the truth, don’t lie about nothing no more,” he said in a DVD released Wednesday by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.

Police have said they don’t think Croslin has told them everything she knows about the disappearance.

He also told her the “Haleigh stuff” needed to end but also cautioned her not to say anything without her lawyer present.

Her father also told her she never should have married Cummings.

Croslin Sr. also told his daughter he didn’t know if he could live through having two of his children in jail.

“I don’t know how to help either one of you,” he said, at one point telling her he wished he’d been a better father and kept her out of trouble.

Fighting back tears Misty told her mother to keep pressuring someone to get her out.

Video files did not record Misty when she talked with her father. It also did not record her mother. That was due to a software malfunction that is now being fixed, St. Johns sheriff’s Chuck Mulligan said.

They each got two new counts of trafficking in prescription medications and an additional $400,000 bail, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. Cummings’ bail is now up to $900,000 and Croslin’s is $1.35 million.

The new follow-up charges stem from the purchase of prescription medication from undercover investigators at the time of their previous arrest.

Bounty hunter Padilla offers bond to Croslin
Updated: Thursday, 04 Feb 2010, 7:33 AM EST
Published : Thursday, 04 Feb 2010, 1:52 AM EST
<snipped>
Padilla famously bonded Casey Anthony out of jail, before she was charged with murdering her daughter.

"I think she thinks that if she says nothing, she's better off, which is not necessarily true. She might have been involved in some drug situation, or she might not have been in the trailer house that night. She might have been out partying," Padilla told FOX 35's Sonni Abatta. "We're hoping that we'll be able to figure out where the child is, hopefully alive."

Padilla said he wants to work for Croslin's lawyers so he can pick Misty's brain to see what really happened to Haleigh Cummings.

UPDATED: Haleigh's Ex-Stepmom Cries During Taped Call
Febuary 4, 2010
<snipped>
More charges are being filed against the father and former step-mother of missing Putnam County girl Haleigh Cummings. On Wednesday, Eyewitness News received jailhouse video of Misty talking to her parents on the telephone.

“Mom, I want out of here, I want out so bad” Misty said, crying. "I'm stuck in this one little cell all the time and they won't let me do anything."

“I told you to stay away from that stupid s**t, I told you,” her father said. “Don’t be lying about nothing, ‘cause it’s only gonna bury you deeper.”

“The Haleigh stuff's got to come to an end. Whatever the truth is, it’s got to come out,” Misty’s father said.

However, due to a computer glitch in the jail's recording system, her response to that question was not recorded.

“I hope I don’t have to be here forever,” she said.

UPDATED: Former Casey Anthony bounty hunter offers to post Misty Croslin's bond
New charges related to sale of prescription narcotics were filed Wednesday against Ronald Cummings and Misty Croslin.
2:27 p.m. EST, February 4, 2010
<snipped>
Now a figure from Casey Anthony's past has stepped from that high-profile case into this one with a get-out-jail card for Croslin —the last person to see missing Satsuma girl Haleigh Cummings. But Leonard Padilla's offer comes with a catch: Croslin has to give the California bounty hunter information about Haleigh's whereabouts before he puts up the $135,000 to get her out of the St. Johns County Jail. "I want her to talk first and then we'll go from there," Padilla said Thursday from California.

Padilla's insistence on information before payment comes from lessons he learned in the Anthony case. He was convinced Anthony would tell him where to find her missing 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony, if he got her out of jail. However, she told him nothing.

"We're not going to do that again," Padilla said.

It's unclear if Padilla's offer will be accepted. Fields could not be reached immediately because he was in court, according to a woman who answered the phone at his law firm.

Padilla's offer has another caveat: He wants anything Croslin might say to him to be covered by attorney-client privilege. That could be accomplished, Padilla said, if Fields makes him part of Croslin's defense team by paying him a nominal amount — like $2.

The issue of attorney-client privilege —and how it applied to Padilla and his associates — became an issue in the Anthony case. In August 2008, Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, argued unsuccessfully that Padilla and his associates, were coverage by attorney-client privilege

"I want to believe she is alive, even though it's been a year," Padilla said.

He tried not to cry. He tried to be the big macho boy but it didn’t work. We started talking about Junior and he started crying, said Theresa.

Ronald’s mother says her son opened up to her about his feelings on his ex-wife, Misty Cummings. Theresa says Ronald is certain she knows more about Haleigh’s disappearance than she has told investigators.

He feels like they’re so certain Misty knows something, and she is going to say something while she’s in there, said Neves.

He feels if there is anything that she does know, she’s going to tell it, said Neves.

In January, authorities said an undercover detective had purchased nearly $4,000 worth of prescription drugs from pair. The Putnam County Sheriff's Office says the new charges stem from previous purchases by undercover detectives.

SKY Investigates: Ron Cummings, Misty Croslin Calls from Jail

News Talk 97.3 the SKY has just received 6 calls Misty Croslin recently made from the St. Johns Jail in St. Augustine, FL.

We were hoping to have more video and more conversations from Tommy Croslin and Donna Brock, but that is not a possibility at this moment due to some challenges at the St. Johns Sheriff's Office media center and the need to further redact parts of the telephone conversations.

Also included is a phone call from Ronald Cummings while at the Putnam County Jail.

Ronald Cummings, Misty and Tommy Croslin, along with Hope Sykes and Donna Brock were arrested January 20, 2010 on multiple charges of trafficking in controlled prescribed medications of oxycodone and hydrocodone.

Below are the links to the raw sound files as WSKY received them from the Putnam County and St. Johns County jails. Investigator have redacted comments in the recordings so as to not compromise any of the cases that could be involved.

UPDATED: Padilla Offers To Post Misty's Bond
Cummings' Jailhouse Conversation With Parents Released
POSTED: Thursday, February 4, 2010
UPDATED: 7:08 pm EST February 4, 2010
<snipped>
High-profile bounty hunter Leonard Padilla has offered to bail Misty Croslin out of jail, but he said her attorneys will not call him back. Padilla said he is willing to post Croslin's $1.35 million bond in exchange for information about the disappearance of Haleigh Cummings.

"She's got two avenues right now that she can explore. One if she gives up the information to us under the privilege that we don't give it to law enforcement, then we could find the child and she's out of jail," Padilla said. Padilla said he thinks Croslin is withholding information because she's scared of the people who took Haleigh.

Croslin talked to her dad, Hank Croslin Sr., who at one point told her "the Haleigh stuff's got to come to an end." "How you doing? I love you," Croslin Sr. began the conversation before changing the topic to Haleigh. "I know it's hard. It's hard for me to have you both locked up, but Misty, don't be lying about nothing because it will only bury you deeper," Croslin Sr. said. "Part of it, Misty, is you guys need to get with the truth and get this s--- over with."

At two different times during their conversation, Croslin Sr. gestures, covering his mouth. "They say you sold over 300 pills," Croslin Sr. said. "How many times did you sell it yourself?"

"I don't understand why you didn't come forward before?" he continued. "You should have left when I told you to go to Michigan. The Haleigh stuff's got to come to an end. The truth's got to come out, and you don't be talking without your lawyer."

In a seven-minute conversation with her mom, Cummings' pending drug charges and the Haleigh investigation never come up. "It sucks, man. I hope I don't have to be here forever," Cummings told her mom.

New Video: Tearful Misty Croslin Wants Out Of Jail
Thursday, February 04, 2010 7:58:22 AM
<snipped>
“Mom, I want out of here. I want out so bad,” Croslin said in the jailhouse video.

She also discussed her charges, but not the investigation into Haleigh’s whereabouts.

At the end of the conversation, Croslin’s father reminded her to speak the truth.

“That Haleigh stuff has got to come to an end,” he said. “Whatever the truth is, it has to come out.”

There was no immediate word on exactly when the video was shot, but Croslin mentioned a $25,000 bond. A judge Wednesday increased the bond to more than $1 million.

Missing girl spikes calls to tips line
February 04, 2010

Tips to Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida doubled in 2009 -- not because of the down economy but because of Haleigh Cummings' disappearance.

The Satsuma 5-year-old disappeared last February before dawn and still is missing.(Haleigh Cummings)

In 2008, more than 2,000 tips were sent to the agency. That number topped 4,000 in 2009 -- in part because of the ability to send and receive text tips, a report states.

"Our phone bill was $5,000 that first month she was gone," said Suzanne DeWees, executive director of Crime Stoppers.

Ronald, Misty face more drug sale charges
Published: Thursday, February 4, 2010 1:28 AM EST
<snipped>
The new charges were filed as part of a continuing investigation, said Deputy Hancel Woods, a spokesman for the sheriff's office.

"These warrants were issued because of drug charges stemming from the purchase of prescription medication from undercover investigators at the time of their arrest on Jan. 20," Woods said in a statement.

"The arrests on that date were made on warrants that were based upon prior undercover purchases," he added. " The issuance of the warrants today and the filing of the additional charges are a follow-up to the operation which led to the original arrests."

The latest charges increased Croslin's bond to $1.35 million from $950,000. She is being held in the St. Johns County Jail on eight counts of trafficking.

Cummings' bond increased to $900,000 from $500,000. He is being held in the Putnam County Jail in Palatka on five counts of trafficking.

Casey Anthony: Are you ready for another episode of the Leonard Padilla show?
posted by halboedeker on February, 4 2010 3:11 PM
<snipped>
Padilla has turned his attention to the case of missing Haleigh Cummings. By phone at 6:30 a.m. today, Padilla talked to WOFL-Channel 35 about Misty Croslin, the last person to see the missing child.

“Possibly a deal can be worked to where we’re willing to put down a million, 350 in bail [for Croslin] in exchange for information that she has not so far given up” about the missing girl, Padilla told WOFL.

The next step is for Croslin’s attorney to contact him, Padilla said. “We can’t do anything that would violate his attorney-client privilege or destroy his relationship with Misty,” Padilla said.

Padilla also talked to NBC’s “Today.”

“He believes if he gets her [Croslin] out, she will give him information about how to find Haleigh,” NBC’s Natalie Morales said.

Padilla said, “I think she’s got some stuff, either she’s given it to law enforcement and they haven’t given it up, or she has information that would lead to the child’s return.”

Padilla told Morales that he wants to work as an investigator for Croslin’s lawyers.

Are you ready to watch Leonard Padilla back in action?

Bounty Hunter May Help Misty Cummings Post Bail If She Gives Info On Haleigh
POSTED: Thursday, February 4, 2010
UPDATED: 6:33 pm EST February 4, 2010
<snipped>
The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office released jailhouse phone conversations Thursday between Cummings and her grandma and brother.

Her first jail phone call was to her grandma.

Grandma: Hello?
Cummings: Grandma, I love you. Can you please accept my phone call?
Grandma: You what?
Cummings: Can you accept, talk to me, please?
Grandma: I'm talking to you, honey.
Cummings: Grandma I don't want to be in here.
Grandma: Misty, I know you don't. I don't want you in there, honey. But there's, we kept telling you, honey, just stay away from that stuff. You can't do that.

In the phone call, Cummings begs her grandma to try to get her out of jail.

etc. ...........................................

The subject of their conversation then turns to Haleigh. Misty tells her brother that her only hope is telling investigators something about the missing girl.

Cummings: Unless I can come out and and tell them something. That's the only way I'm not going.
Croslin: Well, why do you know, sis?
Cummings: Tim, I don't.
Croslin: You don't know nothing?
Cummings: No, Bubba.

etc. ...........................................

Croslin: Well, I'm just saying if you do you, (expletive) can get out of these charges and that's your life.
Cummings: I know.
Croslin: You're looking at ...
Cummings: I know. I'll be 30 something years (old) before I get out if I do 21 years.

Croslin, Cummings anticipate prison time, audio shows

"You know I'm going to be taking a ride, Timmy, I'm going to be going to prison," Croslin says. "... Bub, I'm going to prison, I'm telling you. ... Eight trafficking charges."

"How long you think you're going to do?" her brother asks.

"Probably about 21 years. ... Tommy's going to prison, too," she says, referring to her other brother, Hank "Tommy" Croslin Jr., 23, who was charged with one count of trafficking in prescription medications in connection with the January drug sting. He is being held in the St. Johns County jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.

In a recording released earlier by the Flagler County jail, Ronald Cummings could be heard reaching the same conclusion while talking with a newspaper reporter.

"Oh, no, I'm going to DOC. I'm going to prison. No if, ands or buts," he says in the recording made on Jan. 24. "... I said, there's no if, ands or buts, I'm going to prison. ... Did I put myself in a bad spot? Of course I did."

If convicted on all charges, Misty Croslin faces more than 74 years in prison and Ronald Cummings more than 43 years.
