Undercover Cummings, Croslin video released
The surveillance tapes show money and pills being exchanged with an undercover police officer.

The eight recordings date from Dec. 22 through Jan. 20 when officers arrested the five. Croslin appears in all, apparently acting as a go-between and helping organize exchanges, collecting cash or getting the pills. Also in each is the officer, his face obscured, who drives the van where all of the recordings are made with Croslin, Cummings and others riding as passengers.

On Jan. 14, Croslin is in the van, telling the driver to make it look like he's just giving her a ride. She starts telling him about her brother Tommy Croslin and her mother Lisa Croslin's court cases on previous charges, saying they "got off easy."

The driver tells Croslin he has some prescriptions to get rid of and she says she's "definitely interested." She keeps chatting, saying how she and Cummings now are friends. But, she says, "He's regretting divorcing me."

Croslin says she and Cummings had talked about getting married before Haleigh vanished. Afterward, she says there was worry Cummings would face molestation charges because she was 16 when she started seeing him and the two married but divorced soon afterward. Now, she said, she would wait longer in a relationship before she would marry. "I'm scared of 'I love you,'" she says.

Even years later, police look for lead that will bring a break

It can start with a tip or the opening of a musty case book.

Cold case analyst Jamie Whiteway begins the tedious process of reviewing stacks of paper filed by officers sometimes decades ago. She looks at crime scene descriptions laid out in inches and feet instead of GPS locations and reading through the history of efforts made to solve the case.

And while reading the files, she catalogs the information on the computers and looks for ways to move the case forward, perhaps with a new interview or maybe a test using new DNA technology.

Members of the Alachua County Sheriff's Office Cold Case Unit include Dean, who has been with the agency more than 20 years, Whiteway, a cold case analyst, and Larry Ruby, a special agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. The team currently is assigned to 28 cases of homicide, missing persons and unidentified remains in the county. The oldest posted on the Sheriff's Office Web site dates back to 1966.

"The process of the investigation is the same. You interview witnesses, interview suspects, process the crime scene for forensics," said Dean, comparing detective work on recent cases to cold case investigations. "What happens is it gets more difficult as time goes on. Witnesses - their memories fade. Witnesses die. Suspects die. Forensic evidence gets lost and degraded." "We'll see what type of new technologies can be applied to the evidence and see if there's anything that can be done that hasn't already been done before," Whiteway said.

Techniques that Dean and Whiteway hope to use on cold cases are suspect analysis by a psychologist and statement analysis.

A psychologist reviews the case beforehand to give investigators strategies on interviewing a suspect, Dean said. With statement analysis, witness statements and transcripts are reviewed for phrases and terms that can help determine if someone is lying or telling the truth. "It's just turned into this almost mathematical, scientific thing, like you're grading a paper. It's almost kind of like a lie detector," Whiteway said.

Misty said she thinks about Haleigh all the time.


"I prayed and that's all I can do," Misty Cummings told her mother. "People are saying I don't think about Haleigh. You can ask everybody in this cell block right here, right now, everybody in this block knows that I think about her all the time, that I talk about her all the time."

"I know, sis," said Lisa Croslin, Cummings mother.

"I cried all the time about Haleigh, prayed all the time about Haleigh," Cummings said. "So they all (expletive)."

"My lawyer is doing his job and he's doing the best that he can for me and I appreciate that."

Scott Johnson is watching the videos and will have complete report at 10 p.m.

On the tapes, Croslin asked her mother if she had read the latest headlines about the case in the newspaper.

&#8226;Croslin: You read the paper today?
&#8226;Mother: No. I just got up and come out here.
&#8226;Croslin: The people that are involved, that the cops think that's involved, is locked up.

Croslin also referred to a vigil held for Haleigh on the one-year anniversary of her disappearance. Both she and Ronald Cummings were in jail at the time. However, Croslin's mother attended the vigil.

&#8226;Croslin: Theresa read a letter that Ronald wrote?
&#8226;Mother: Yes. She read it.
&#8226;Croslin: Was it good?
&#8226;Mother: Yes. It was good. It said make sure Haleigh knows she'll always be his baby girl. It was really good.

Another jailhouse video has been released showing Misty Croslin, the last person to see missing 6-year-old Haleigh Cummings alive.

"Everybody in this block knows i think about her all the time," Croslin told a visitor during the video I talk about her all the time. I know sis, and I cry all the time about Haleigh, pray all the time about Haleigh. Yeah I know so they can all kiss my #%$Q."

Croslin is locked up on a million dollar bond after being arrested for illegally selling prescription drugs.

Still more jailhouse video of Misty Croslin Cummings' phone conversations with her mother were released Thursday by St. Johns County Jail officials.
Misty Croslin Cummings, the last person to see missing 6-year-old Haleigh Cummings more than one year ago, is being held in the St. Johns County Jail on drug charges carrying a $1.35 million bond.

In the video, Cummings said she thinks about Haleigh all the time.

It appears Misty has cooled to the possibility of changing lawyers and possibly getting out on bail through the offer made by bounty hunter Leonard Padilla.

"I still love him mama," Croslin told her mother.

Croslin told her mother that her and Ronald Cummings were working on their relationship just before they were arrested on drug charges.

Recovered Audio Could Provide Some Insight into Haleigh Case

Private investigator William "Cobra" Staubs recorded an interview with a woman in May of 2009 and sent WSKY the audio a short time afterward. In the audio, the woman make all kinds of allegations regarding drugs, Misty and Nay Nay Prevatt.

Prevatt became a little bit better known in the disappearance of Haleigh Cummings following a letter she sent to her boyfriend while she was in jail on separate drug charges last summer . Prevatt stated in the letter that investigators quizzed her about Haleigh in regards to an alleged signed affidavit by a man named Joe Pytko who claimed the child ate some "roxies" while at a party with Misty and died. He allegedly added in his "affidavit" that Haleigh's body was put in a bag and was dumped in a pond. A pond at the Mondex near Palatka was drained around the time the letter was made public by WSKY.

WSKY forwarded these recordings to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office last year and asked if these sound files might have anything to do with the investiagtion into Haleigh Cummings. To this day, WSKY has not received and answer to that question.

Whether or not this interview will help investigators find Haleigh or her possible abductor(s), the discussions do give a possible insight to the lifestyle of Misty Crosin and Nay Nay Prevatt at the time.

The court appearance is for a hearing on the drug charges Croslin is facing St. Johns and Putnam counties.

Croslin already appeared in Putnam County on those charges.

The hearing is expected to begin at 1:30 p.m.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- Misty Cummings, who was scheduled to go before a St. Johns County judge Monday on drug trafficking charges, entered a written not guilty plea instead.

Cummings, the last person to see missing 6-year-old Satsuma girl Haleigh Cummings before she disappeared last year, is being held on $1.35 million bond.

These three, along with Ronald Cummings and Hope Sykes were arrested January 20, 2010 on drug trafficking charges after a month-long multi-agency drug sting operation.
