Weapons of war. On peaceful protesters, American citizens.

Some people show up on the streets with jingle dresses, red knitted hats, cell phones with cameras, signs, and loud voices, and sometimes swear words.

Other people show up with tear-gas, guns, and battle tanks.

Note: DFL = Democratic Farm Labor, which is what the Dem party is called in Minnesota.

With federal immigration operations still dominating international headlines, DFL state lawmakers plan to introduce legislation later this month that would make it easier for Minnesota residents to sue the federal government over alleged constitutional violations.

Ochoa is probably the “real” one. He looks like the construction man in the “Village People”. And the photo walking around is the same.

Guttierrez who is 35 usually was presented as a mugshot of an old guy on the heavy side. Periodically I see a young cutie from the Halloween party and marvel at the transformation.

IRL, he looks like the young cutie + 12 years later and the pig-headed mug shot belongs to the deported criminal who he is not.

I suspect that DHS does not care what happens to their agents and people are angry. I believe that the citizens of Minnesota deserve a fair legal trial. I don’t want anyone to be hurt, especially by some vigilantes.

The names are very common. So no one should doxx them.
I suspect the culprits are safe somewhere. The agent who killed Renee Good was a MN resident, and agents went to his house and cleaned it out. I'm assuming that means he moved away.

I'm assuming these agents who killed Alex Pretti were far away before the names were released.

And I wonder if the admin hoped public heat would be placed on the agents and take scrutiny off themselves.

I don't think any sane and normal Minnesotan wants physical revenge on the agents, but justice through the peaceful legal process. My opinion.

The Pentagon’s Northern Command over the weekend stood down more than 1,500 federal troops placed on alert for potential deployment to Minneapolis, according to two U.S. officials with direct knowledge of the situation. ....

The order to stand down comes as the Trump administration has signaled a potential de-escalation in Minneapolis following the fatal shootings of two people involving federal officers.

What do websleuthers think Hennepin County and Minnesota should do with the ProPublica names?

I believe both agents are from Texas and likely back there. DHS and ICE project what they would do onto others. MN wouldn't do anything vengeful or violent because they are peaceful people and simply want fairness and for laws to be followed, but DHS and ICE clearly are violent and vengeful. They can't believe anyone is actually loving and good because they aren't. JMO

Note: The Whipple building is a federal building in Minnesota where ICE brings detainees. It is located at Fort Snelling, which is between Minneapolis and St Paul.

ICE detention conditions at Fort Snelling labeled 'inhumane'

U.S. Rep. Kelly Morrison described the conditions as akin to a Third World prison. Morrison, a medical doctor, was particularly concerned about the healthcare situation, echoing complaints heard from detainees. ...

Morrison says her visit confirmed that ICE was not meeting its own standards for humane treatment and adequate medical care. ...

Morrison noted that despite having seven days to prepare for the visit, the conditions remained concerning.

I have no wish to blame Alex Pretti for anything. I've been sticking up for him on this thread after all, but homicide ≠ murder.

From the link -

By definition, a homicide ruling means the death was caused by another person, but does not determine if a crime was committed.

The medical examiner has ruled Alex Pretti’s death a homicide. While a homicide can be legally justified, that determination should only be made by a state court of law, and it has not happened. This is according to Governor Walz. I'm looking for his quote.

This is an unprecedented situation. Federal officials say ICE acted appropriately, but the vast majority of people saw something very different with their own eyes.

We allowed discussion from members who agreed with the federal government and believed Alex was responsible for his own death, only because federal law enforcement officials said ICE acted appropriately

Since Alex's death has been officially ruled a homicide, and until a state court of law rules this a justifiable homicide after a full and appropriate investigation, Alex Pretti will be treated as a victim on Websleuths.

Mr. Pretti’s family has an excellent lawyer. No doubt his team is at work. It will take time.

Immigration officers with guns drawn arrested some activists who were trailing their vehicles on Tuesday in Minneapolis, a sign that tensions have not eased since the departure last week of a high-profile commander. ...

Several cars followed officers through south Minneapolis after there were reports of them knocking at homes. Officers stopped their vehicles and ordered activists to come out of a car at gunpoint. Agents told reporters at the scene to stay back and threatened to use pepper spray. ...

A federal judge last month put limits on how officers treat motorists who are following them but not obstructing their operations. Safely following agents “at an appropriate distance does not, by itself, create reasonable suspicion to justify a vehicle stop,” the judge said. An appeals court, however, set the order aside.

I just spoke with @RealTomHoman @ICEDirector @CBPCommissioner
. Effective immediately we are deploying body cameras to every officer in the field in Minneapolis. As funding is available, the body camera program will be expanded nationwide. We will rapidly acquire and deploy body cameras to DHS law enforcement across the country.

Good.

Although could (and should) have been done already.

As the immigration crackdown continues in Minnesota, Nicole Cleland, a resident of Richfield, Minnesota, believes federal agents identified her through facial recognition software. ...

One source briefed on DHS tactics confirmed to CBS News that Border Patrol uses facial recognition software, including Mobile Fortify, to scan the faces of demonstrators. ...

Cleland said three days after that interaction with Border Patrol, she received an email notice that said her Global Entry was revoked.

"You can click on a link and there is a letter that just says, 'Your status has been changed. We're not obligated to give you any reason for that change,'" Cleland said after showing WCCO the revocation notice. ...

Cleland says she's less concerned with losing Global Entry and more focused on what could have caused her to lose it.
