...and the picking apart continues. I wonder when people in the media, etc. will be satisfied they have gotten their pound of flesh?

It's not going to happen anytime soon IM. Due to the history, many have been waiting for this day to come and now that it has they are rubbing their hands together. jmo.

I admire Mel for accepting responsibility for his inappropriate behavior. Alcoholism always makes people do things they regret. He's just a man. A person who did something he isn't proud of. And he's getting help for his addiction. I'm not sure what more could be expected of him.

:blowkiss: Bravo and best wishes, Mel.
I'm certainly not casting the first stone. If he wasn't famous, there wouldn't have even been a story to write. Alcoholism and inappropriate behavior effect people everyday. Maybe by Mel getting help for his addiction, it will help others admit they have a problem and do the same.

weather or not he is famous doesnt take the sting out of what was said or done. I dont think its appropriate for ANYONE no matter what their status, to say and do the things he did. that being said, I agree, its getting a lot of coverage because of who he is.

The Borowitz Report - 08/02/06:

In an extraordinary appearance on the Arabic-language al-Jazeera network today, terror mastermind Osama bin Laden reached out to Mel Gibson and offered the Hollywood actor lessons in anger management.

Millions of viewers tuned in expecting to see the al-Qaeda leader in one of his trademark terror videos, only to find the world's most wanted man appearing in an advice video instead.

I can't figure out why this is plastered all over the news but the FBI Director acknowldedging that Hezbollah agents were nabbed attempting to entire the US via the MExican Border in April gets NADA airplay. WTF?

I know what you mean Ntegrity. Stepping up is a good thing. You have to start somewhere with something like this.
ETA: Our morning news reported that there was something deeply troubling mel that night, prior to the arrest.

i heard the same thing, on a talk radio station, on the way home from work today....it was said that "Mel Gibson was virtually suicidal just prior to the night he was arrested for DUI" per 'sources close to the actor'......

oh my!....lol, this sounds like something from onion.com

"Listen, I'm all for blaming things on the Jews, but this guy went too far," said Mr. bin Laden.

The al-Qaeda leader said that the next time Mr. Gibson feels the urge to spew hateful rhetoric, "count to ten first."

OKay DA charged him with :

1 count of driving under the influence(misdemeanor)
1 count of blood alcohol over .08(misdemeanor)
1. infraction open container(infraction)

court late SEptember.

No comment as to why no "trying to escape" or "resisting arrest "type charge.

Watching MSNBC now--commentators are saying it wasn't the booze talking that night it was bigotry,of which I concur--It was also mentioned that he may be mentally ill, which is a possibility, but still not an excuse--LA Times is stating that there should be more condemnation from Hollywood bigwigs than there has been, saying its shameful that more aren't speaking out about Mel's inexcuseable remarks

Is that a joke lol because you've got to be joking!
Bin Laden gives anger control advice

hahaha, got me!
Thought the world truly had gone mad lol

Have we all noticed that Mel did a much better job of nailing himself to the cross, this time??

I think the "suicidal angle" was dreamed up by his agents, and his attorneys, who are desperately trying to think of a way to get Mel off of the hook with the Jewish people, and all others offended by his remarks.

So Mel was suicidal? I had not heard that yet.

I did not hear that, but I did hear a report that there was defintiely something very deep and dark going on, as in depression or troubled prior to the arrest that night.
