Mel Gibson's latest racist rant

IMO Mel's anger is more at himself than anything Oksana has done. Mel's been a middle aged fool (well, it sounds like he's been one for a while) and the chickens have come home to roost. No one's character is snow white in this melodrama(except the baby girl caught in the middle). Bottom line-there are lessons to be learned and morals abounding in this sad story and the biggest one (for me anyway) is there is no excuse for a man to touch a woman holding a child.

I got that same impression listening to the tapes - that Mel was angrier with himself than he was with her. I think he was always a drinker and explosive but I think the stability of home life kept it in check. Now he's wondered off from his family and the stability that gave him and he's waking up to the real world. The world he chose. I think he hates what he has become and what he sees. Unlike his family who undoubtedly loved him warts and all, he's discovered there are lot of shallow users out there that don't have pure motives. If he were sober he would have known all of this a lot sooner. He seems embarrassed, ashamed and angry with himself in those tapes. JMO. I know other's will disagree.

Certainly I don't think it would be good for the development of a child to witness someone treating his mother that way.
I also can't help but wonder what Gibson's wife and their children were dealing with during all the years of marriage.

I think she left him rather quickly, good for her and her children!....sooooooooo many women stay with men like this. I'm thrilled she got away.

Well, she stuck with him for a good 28 years and only filed for divorce after learning that his mistress was pregnant. Lord knows I couldn't have stayed that long-but I think after that many years they had worked out a way to deal with his drinking and related "escapades". I think she (Robyn) was desperately trying to hold on to the marriage for the 7 children they had together and only threw in the towel when faced with something that she couldn't ignore and couldn't be fixed. Kinda reminds me of Elizabeth Edwards. :waitasec:

I was talking about Oksana.

I would guess his ex wife hung in there for so long because she was controlled & abused gradually over a long period of time...like so many abused women.

Another case in point about wealthy men and gold diggers. I am friendly with woman whose husband is a local businessman and extremely wealthy. He is in his 50's and more than a little overweight. He receives all kinds of text messages from younger women in their 20's trying to hook up with him on a regular basis. He's not famous, just very wealthy. I wonder how many poor overweight men in their 50's have this same problem? If you do, please raise your hand. Do you think it's his money or are older, overweight men the new hot thing among 20 year old girls Hmmmm....

I haven't read the whole thread, so please forgive me if this has been asked. But - why oh why do these recordings sound SO fake??? Why is the woman's voice so loud and clear in comparison to stupid Mel's and so scripted-sounding?? I just don't get it. I don't care enough about this case because I can't stand Mel Gibson but I heard the recordings on Jane Velez Mitchell and this has been bugging me.

Wow. Just wow.

He is so out of control. The panting, the hyperventilating..... I'm truly surprised that he hasn't had a stroke getting this enraged.

He sounds like an out of control teenager that has been told NO. With his status, he's probably never been told no before. Who in their right mind would tell Mel Gibson no?

Why hasn't LE made an arrest? This guy is dangerous - very dangerous.

I presume her voice sounds clear in comparison to his voice because they are phone recording, recorded on her end. I also presume if the tapes were fake, the first thing Gibson's lawyer would do is to get in front of the camera and say the tapes are fake.
Which clearly has not happened.

I agree and I would also bet he still has some level of trust and affection for Robyn. If that were my ex-husband and we still had a civil relationship, I would do everything in my power to get him some serious help for the sake of our children in order to spare them further embarrassment. I have helped my ex with drinking related issues/fallout on more than one occasion for that very reason. That and I still have a level of affection for him given how many years we were married. He went through the same downward spiral that MG has once we were apart. Luckily he has seemed to gained his footing, although not as well as I would like.


I really hope his older children or his ex-wife get him some help. He's a ticking time bomb and the mysterious trickle of tape releases, are surely not helping the situation.

I hope they have someone with him and are keeping him away from the alcohol (something I highly doubt as he IS MEL GIBSON and no one tells him no).

Its very telling that his "camp" has not issued ONE WORD on all of this. HE knows he said, did, all this. HE knows what else there must be in "the pipeline". It has to be "ticking" away at him with everyday a new tape and new, more explosive rantings.

Very classic. I imagine the woman could also be tired because she has a young child to take care of, so she probably wouldn't have sex with him as often as before the child.
Seriously, given the kind of conversation the two seemed to have been having on the phone, I can't even imagine the two of them being able to be in physical proximity of each other, but apparently he was still wanting sex at that same time frame they were having these phone conversations. Simply mind boggling.

I think a better example is set for children when they see consequences being faced and their abused parent no longer tolerating being a doormat.

If I were his ex, I wouldn't even try to get him some help. Until HE realizes he's got a BOAT LOAD of SERIOUS issues there would be no point. IMO He's a narcissist that HATES women and (darn near everyone else) and ya can't fix that.

BTW did anyone see "The View" yesterday? I caught a clip on some news show last night. Seems Whoopie is defending old Mel, claiming he's not a racist! Just like she defended Roman Polanski claiming wasn't a child rapist.

It really wouldn't be difficult for his lawyer to get in front of the camera and tell the world if those tapes were fake. The tape after tape has been released, but not a peep from Gibson claiming the tapes aren't real.
