Dear jjenny, I'm sorry if my post offended you. I actually would not say she was faking, but of course, I don't expect anyone to believe that. I guess I am voicing some frustration as a formerly battered myself. In years past, when I went thru it, it was hard to get anyone to believe. So I completely can understand that part.
Then the pendulum swung the other way, and many people, including women, began to be falsely accused.
Certainly if she were crying or screaming response, I would identify with that behavor as a former victim myself. Also you are correct : she should NOT apologize ---nonetheless that is a typical victim behavior in these situations...the victims learn quickly to "apologize" for everything in order to avoid violent confrontations...that gives the batterer more control over his victim. That's all i meant.
My hope is, that in the end, when it has actually been determined by a court judge and all the facts are made clear, that the pendulum in our society will now begin to swing toward the middle and that all cases will be thoroughly investigated before we make our minds entirely.
I am not entirely sure that Mel Gibson is "guilty" of these accusations. They are very serious and so are the allegations from his side, against her.
In the end, when it comes to domestic violence, the last thing I want is for people not to take it seriously, because celebrities have misused the courts.
In the meantime, I really hope for healing for all concerned. Including Oksana. I only expressed my personal opinion about victimization based on my own experience. I was in no way rooting for "Team Mel".
Best wishes,
R
