Darn. I didn't even know I had subscriptions. I deleted 33 pages of them! I now have my settings changed to 'do not subscribe'.... Sorry....

Ok folks..If you look at our member base you will see that there are a few thousand members..BUT..only a couple hundred are posters..most of the member base are people who do not post. like they are just here taking up the bandwidth..so if the member base was pruned on a regular bases then there wouldn't be all these unused hats in the member base..But if y'all like to think there are thousands and thousands of members, well then who am I to come up with a suggestion?

I don't think posters who never post take up any bandwidth. To my understanding it's the other way around, posters with high post counts take up the most bandwidth. I could be wrong though, wouldn't be the first time. :)

The photos wouldn't take up so much bandwidth if there was a limit to file size. 100k or less.... something like that. It lowers the overall quality of the photo but takes up lots less space. Can a mod tell us the message board standard on that one? What do the Vbulletin people suggest?

A lot of lurkers. :)

i was a lurker for much of last year. i'd have been sad to have been 'pruned'. :(

You don't have to have a username to be a lurker though. I really do think it's a good idea to clean that up too, I had actually thought that recently (unrelated to the crashes though).

There are also many threads that could be purged too to clean things up a bit. JMO of course.

did not know that I had subscriptions, I am a green horn on the computer, How do I delete them????

Somone helped me put my picture under my Signature. How do I delete it??

Thanks for your help.

Unsubscribing to threads is easy.

Go the the UserCP and scroll down to Default Thread Subscription Mode and use the drop down menu to choose Do Not Subscribe.

Scroll down a bit more to Visible Post Elements and uncheck those three boxes.

Then scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Save Changes.

A hearty thanks to all!!

According to Photobucket the standard size for photos posted on message boards is 640 x 480. It doesn't say anything about the file size.

:)

Just posting to make sure my siggy pic is gone.... if not, can someone please tell me what to do as what I tried obviously didn't work...

Thanks.
J.

Done. (Didn't have any.) You guys are great. The server...not so much. Would you consider sharing its name, as a public service?

Isn't it that big splashy head top left-hand corner? vBulletin?

But i only took a few months out from posting.

I agree there are some that need to go to the big waste land on the net. Of course then we wouyld all lose post count which to me would not be a big deal.
In fact Chico if you want delete all my threads concerning my family. It was nice at the time to ask for prayers or what ever. But now that the crisis or whatever is done. No sense keeping them

I think the biggie is the subscribed threads and signature lines esp those with pics at this time. The very last thing we want to do is get rid of threads  that's our history!

I'm so sorry! I had to delete over 50 pages of subscribed threads. I had no idea it was a problem.

:blushing:

I'll do whatever it takes to keep WS up and running smoothly!

I had 0, too...but I did delete my lil wink. (I will miss it.) I agree that photos take up lots of bandwidth on those siggies tho. (Most sites will only allow a certain size to keep those in check.)
