I think the biggie is the subscribed threads and signature lines esp those with pics at this time. The very last thing we want to do is get rid of threads that's our history!

Wow, this is the first I've been able to either sit down at my computer or log into WS since early yesterday. It was down again. I went to the jury room and saw the big, urgent message. I never subscribed to any thread, so there was no problem on that front. But, I did have to get my but out of the stock tank, (sigh). But if it helps keep us up and running, no problem.

Actually, it NOW sounds like the server is playing games with you. A truly "big time" server getting paid as much as they are from Tricia should have NO problem with a website this size. That just sounds silly to me.

One "small" step for not going through WS withrawal symptoms when it is down!!!

Tricia - or whoever - there are many of us here who are willing to donate some $$$ to the cause if you want to go with a bigger and better server. I plan on being around awhile and I see that a lot of other people have mentioned they, too, would contribute - not everyone would have to, it would just be on a voluntary/donation basis ----

The countdown threads aren't anymore massive than alot of other threads on here....me thinks alot of people are getting nasty for no good reason about those threads because WS has been down. I'm sure the mods or Tricia would have notified us before now if the evil countdown thread was the root of all our problems.

I think it's entirely possible those countdown threads are the cause of all the evil in the world, well beyond WS. Didn't those threads start right before Katrina? I rest my case.

Again, no money. Websleuths is privately owned and maintained and will stay that way. It's very sweet but that's just not the solution.

Until we get a new server company we're trying to decrease the load on the server. Some of the software's features are taxing....for lack of the correct technical term.

Unsubscribing to threads for those that have an email notification sent will obviously ease up the system. Just think if ten posters subscribe to one thread and have email notifications sent for each new post our software is pretty busy creating and sending those out. We have over 11,000 members and it adds up.

We're trying anything to ease the load by removing the use of some features. Features that are nice but not necessary to posting and joining in the discussion.

Hi there. I didn't even know that they generated emails. I only had 4 threads under subscriptions, but deleted them. Hope this helps.

We need all our members to help us I did not realize that in our user cp that our subcribed threads are saved and generate emails. I need everyone to go to this link and please delete subcribed threads I had 70 pages of them and that is taking up so so much bandwidth and with us having server problems if everyone deletes these subcribed threads it's going to help clean up our software and bandwidth.
I'm enclosing the link please click on it and delete just like you do when cleaning up your pm box. Also please remove pictures from your siggy.

The system will not let me delete my subscribed threads. It appears that I have 1670 of them!! I began the process which is either save em or reset I chose reset and the clicker box timer went to about half way then gave me a SERVER IS TOO BUSY TRY LATER.

DID I DO THE RIGHT THING TO ELIMINATE MY SUBSCRIBED THREADS. I WAS NOT GIVEN A CHOICE TO JUST 'DELETE'.

Also there was no choice in the edit to delete my siggie CAMPER MOTOR HOME AND LITTLE HUNGRY CHILDREN. DO I HAFTA, CAN I HAVE SENIORITY PREFERENCE FOR 'MY' SIGGIE??? eR HUH?

nope they didn't...you'll have to blame another evil thread for Katrina

I believe Katrina occured in Aug 05...the first countdown thread was started in Dec 05.
