It might, Indy...but my thinking is that members should just adhere to the site owner's instructions for now in order to facilitate BigTex's attempts to track down the problem(s) with the site.

For example, I noticed BarnGoddess in another thread mentioned she had cleaned out her PM Box, which would seem to be a good logical move ... I save and clear my PM folder out on a weekly basis. It's very easy to save your PM's to your own HDD and empty those folders which would obviously free up some of Tricia's DB space on the server.

It's quite possible that once BigTex is further along, more requests to lighten up the DB might be forthcoming...or not.

I have just been so lost without my WS. My mind tends to go onto overdrive...LOL

It appears many are either not reading/understanding/ignoring the stickied request or they're having difficulty clearing their signatures in the user's CP. Until BigTex completes his analysis of the situation...perhaps it would be best to simply disable all signatures in the Admin CP for VB 3.6.5 for now.

Okay, so I was shocked to read that some people didn't disable their siggies, so I set my settings to 'show signatures', out of curiosity. :blushing:

Then I noticed I have a stripe thingy under my posts. I deleted my signature months ago and have had my settings to 'don't show' since then as well, so I never even knew that. How do I get it gone?? There is nothing in my signature box at all.

Edit: okay this is weird... it was there when I posted this post, and then I edited it to add there is nothing in my signature box and now it's gone?? Argh LOL.

Help , all of a sudden I am getting e-mail regarding threads that I have posted to. I have not been getting these in the past. I have my USER CP marked not to subscribe to threads. Does anyone know why I would be getting the e-mails and how I can stop that????

Slow loading pages..

I know that what I suggested before on this thread was taken with a roll of the eyes, but I also know that on my own forum that we had to prune the member base to avoid this happening..we also had to remove or limit the spyder bots because we were getting to many..I just took a look at who is on-line because I am having trouble with pages loading slow ..my observations show that we have:

Currently Active Users: 293 (85 members and 208 guests)

so in my mind we don't have as many active users as have been stated as to why the member base doesn't get pruned..

we have 85 members currently on-line at the moment,
208 of them are guest which are not logging in as members. and out of that 208 guest there are 60 bots. Mostly Yahoo. Sure bots can be a good thing for getting WS in the search engines, but come on 60 at a time is a little much. While this isn't the one thing that is causing havoc with the site, but I do believe it is a contributor.

These numbers are a regular occurrence here at WS, not just a random happening.

This is not a complaint but just my observations as to what might be contributing to the problems with this site.
