I will state good news for the defense. What I am wondering is did the independent experts receive the .fsa files from the prosecution which should of been turned over from the start as it is the raw data.
Please explain again briefly about fsa files. : ( sorry

Allusonz, please don't think we are ignoring your very informative posts. On some technical subjects related to science, I admit I get lost and I don't always ask you to stop and re-explain. But that doesn't mean I'm not reading your info and doing the best I can.

For example, I couldn't make heads or tails out of the discussion of whether the bra was cut or torn. But I finally got from one of the other sites that it matters because if the bra was torn, then the tearer's DNA (RS?) should be all over the bra straps. A knife might not leave so much collateral DNA. Well, duh! :loser:

You mean over on the other site?

If let me make that clear that if the accusations such as going to real peoples homes, phoning employers etc are true, then this goes beyond AK and RS and their appeal. This would then be going to a very different level which to me is very scary

I am wondering (as usual, confused because of the opposing camps' respective and differing spin on things) if the postponement of the May 9th report is definitely good news for the defense, or only maybe, or might it be good news for the prosecution in some way? Anyone venture to guess?

I was wondering that myself. I had expected Frank's piece to have more facts about that. But it didn't. It was a great piece nonetheless, but I wanted to know more about the postponement.

I would agree!!!

You might of missed many of my earlier posts re the DNA :innocent:

I was actually quite shocked that they had to even request the .fsa files although at this point nothing should surprise me

If this review comes back remotely close to how bad it should be, not only could RS and AK's DNA testing be tossed but so could RG's

Does RG have any appeals left though? Well, Hopefully, in his case, there's enough OTHER evidence to keep him in jail.

The easiest way I can explain the torn versus cut bra is that if it was cut there should not be any DNA on it save perhaps where it was cut. I know how fast I can rip/tear a bra just doing every day things let alone in a struggle and there are alot of variables. How often has it been wasked, what material is it, etc.

ETA As my mom use to state they sure don't make things the way they use to :floorlaugh:

I am confused. Where are they accusations coming from and who are they directed at?

No, Guede has exhausted his appeals. Of course, new evidence or lack thereof could change that, but as you correctly point out, there is enough other to keep him imprisoned.

Flourish did a good rundown on bras at the end of thread 11. I'll bring it forward.

Now, not having been able to look at the bra in "real life," or see a super detailed photo of the part where it came apart, it's difficult to say, but it appears, to me, that it was torn, ripped, or pulled apart from the other piece. However, despite what Hollywood and bad romance novels would like you to believe, it is actually quite difficult to rip through the materials in many, if not most, female undergarments. It of course depends on what exactly every piece of the bar was made of, as you have your various elastics, lycra, spandex, and other stretchy materials, fiber blends, double layers, reinforced panels, padding, plastic and/or metal under-wires/stays, and so forth.

It is possible that a knife was used to make a small cut to help the bra be torn off easier, but my best guess, using my years of experience shopping for and wearing bras, as well as the visual inspection of the photos of the bra, is that the bra was likely torn off with bare hands, which would require a significant amount of force.

If anyone feels the need to experiment, you can buy cheap bras at Goodwill and try ripping them apart (not even necessarily off of someone and you'll see how difficult it could be (of course depending on fabric, how many times bra was washed, whether it was hand-washed or machine-washed, and whether it was hung to dry or dried in a dryer--a dryer-dried bra's elastic will weaken quicker than one that has been hung to dry)
FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH

I think I saw your posts, but was not quite sure of the technical languaging and meaning. I know you gave a lot of great info!!!

ETA: So in your mind, the postponement is definitely good for the defense, then?

Yes. We are talking 5 picograms or less. That simply is not enough to test even in LCN DNA and being able to get a valid profile. The fact the independent experts refused to test levels that low makes one wonder how Stephanoni tested it especially after she testified that the bra and knife handle were not LCN DNA. She stated they were much higher levels thus there should of been sufficient to retest at least the bra and knife handle

I know of no DNA expert that would store something that should be dried and sealed put something into a jar of water. Something very funky going on here

I just read an interesting theory that th print got on th bathmat when RG took his shoes off, went to rinse off in the shower, which is pants on, and stepped out of the shower, half onto the mat with water blood on his foot, blood presumably that had washed down from his soiled jeans.

I didn't believe it because the print is faced as if RG is headed toward the shower, but then I remember AK said she'd used the bathmat as a "towel" when she had no towel after her own shower. Is it possible she put the mat back upside down? I hadn't considered this, but I suppose it's possible. i have to look at the pictures again.

What do you think of this theory?
