discussing the lack of taping of the interrogation, but doesn't do anything when the suspects tell repeated lies

Where is the transcript showing these 'lies?' Where is the recording where we can hear these 'lies?' How do I know who lied about what, exactly? Which media report or tabloid report is the definitive one?

There is none of the interrogation that we know of. But, if AK was turned from a witness to a suspect due to implicating PL, then VERIFIES this in her 'gift' to prosecutors then you should be mildly satisfied that is what happened.
The 'transcripts' you seek of her other lies are the multiple emails home stating she stayed with RS watching a movie (LIE) and in when that alibi was busted, she suddenly can't remember (reefer madness) exactly what happened the night before (LIE).

No media report or tabloid report can be 100% correct until after the judges motivational report is issued, unless they were at the trial for the entire case... which most were not. Trial transcripts and the reasoning report will have the correct information.

The written verdict is out...

It is over 400 pages according to the above link, and I have not found the actual text online (in Italian OR English). The judges felt, however, that AK and RS committed the murder without malice, and it was a sex game gone wrong.

It won't be long before everyone has a copy of the report and I expect this thread will heat up as the report is discussed. So here is a tip for everyone:

If you find you are using the word "YOU" in your post, you need to rewrite the post. The rule is: Attack the post, not the poster.

Thanks and I hope the report addresses some of the many concerns in this case.

Thank goodness. Now, they can finally get their appeals going and be on their way to hopefully being exonerated. By the sounds of what Trump has said in the past few days, Amanda's family probably won't have to worry as much about the financial strain of this circus. What a relief that must be! That is very nice of him, IMO. He isn't a foolish man and Oprah isn't a foolish woman. It's nice to have them on the side of the defense, they need all the help they can get. Hopefully, the new judges and jury will see the injustice that has occured and correct it and hopefully this will happen during the first round of appeals. It needs to happen. Amanda is innocent and Raffaele is innocent. It is cruel and inhumane to imprison innocent people. I pray for them, their families and Meredith's family every day. Justice will NOT be served for Meredith until A&R are exonerated and released from their prisons.

This report will not help the appeals process one bit imo. As far as 'the Donald'
and Oprah... they do need the financial help that is for sure, but as far as helping the case for innocence their support will mean nothing.

Dgfred, have you found the report online? I have not seen it yet, but I would assume that knowing what evidence was considered critical to AK's and RS's convictions would be helpful in framing the appeal.

If you have access to the report, I'd love to see it. :)

The Perugia Murder File site has several links to parts of the report. That is the only place I've found so far.

Their conclusion doesn't really make much sense. The report says no planning, no motive per se, Guede led the attack, and AK and RS then decided to help Guede? That's an illogical scenario to me.

Yep. From what I've read, it seems like Judge Massei contradicts much of the prosecution's case. So far, it's only added to the confusion. What is up with the Perugian "Justice" System?

Looking forward to the appeals. I'm sure Amanda, Raffaele and their families are, as well. I'm praying that they will be free by this time next year. I'm sure Amanda misses Springtime in Seattle with her family.

So with no planned attack, how did the jury think RS's kitchen knife come to be used in the murder at MK's apt?

Why would AK and RS help a guy one of them barely knew, and the other never met, attack and murder MK?

The jury found no motive and saw no animosity between AK and MK and yet they decided AK plunged a knife into MK's neck? To help out so Guede could sexually assault MK? Then why wasn't there any evidence of AK in MK's bedroom? Hair? Fibers? DNA? Fingerprints? nothing was found.

These are some of the reasons why the jury's version of what happened that night doesn't make sense to me.

  • #353
The jury said Amanda acted without malice. Um, ok. None of their reasoning makes sense. I was really hoping their report would shed some light on their decision, but it's leaving more questions instead.

I took from what little I read that the murder just happened. Not being preplanned is not proof of innocence. IMO Amanda is in the right place. Many posters express sorrow for her family but Amanda is the cause of any pain they are feeling.

  • #355
It's not ok for Amanda's SLIGHT story change after hours and hours of an illegal interrogation and coercion, but when the prosecution and judges change the story repeatedly it's ok? It's obvious that they are trying to mold the story into whatever will make Amanda & Raf look guilty. How is that not obvious to EVERYONE? Unbelievable.

Amanda Knox Judges Offer "Lies, Nonsense" About Murder Guilty Verdict, Says CBS News Consultant

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) "It's more bad news for Amanda Knox."

Private investigator Paul Ciolino, a CBS News consultant, says a document issued Thursday by Italian judges explaining the murder convictions of Knox, of Seattle, and her former Italian boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, was written to justify the court's "crazy decision."

Ciolino told Crimesider the verdicts remain "more about national pride and anti-Americanism than about justice."

Knox and Sollecito were convicted last December of murdering her roommate, 21-year-old Meredith Kercher of Britain, in 2007, in Perugia, Italy where Knox was an exchange student. The judges newly declare that there are no "gaps or inconsistencies" in the original verdicts, while saying Knox and Sollecito acted without premeditation. The murder was carried out "without any planning, without any animosity or rancorous feelings toward the victim," the document says.

Rather, it upholds the prosecution theory at trial that the couple killed either during sexual advances that got out of control, or were fueled by drugs, or perhaps both.

Ciolino called the judges' explanation "lies, half-truths, and nonsense," saying it points up the "silliness" of the theory of a sex-game gone wrong. He said the verdict against Knox was "pre-ordained" and the document could have been written before the trial.

Thankfully, the ridiculous nature of this whole circus doesn't elude everyone.

The first part of an English translation (or interpretation? may be a paraphrase document) of the Judges' Report is up at the Perugia-Shock Blog.

I'm confused by how something can be classified as first degree murder if there's no malice, no planning, and 'things just got out of control?' MK was brutally murdered--that smacks of malice to me. Of course I believe RG did it (and likely did it all by himself).

Knox's mother says Amanda's lawyers are encouraged

Mellas says this inclusion of evidence not presented at the trial may help in Amanda's appeal. "He can write whatever he wants. It's his justification. That's why Amanda's lawyers are encouraged. They look at all this stuff and go, wow, in our appeal process we're going to write you can't use something as an argument that was not presented and talked about in court."

Knox's lawyers have been working on her appeal since the guilty verdict was delivered in December. Mellas says the legal team will likely have the appeal ready by the end of the month. Mellas knows this is just the beginning of the appeal process. "We turn in our paperwork. Then they have another 30 days to assign a new judge and a new prosecutor. Those people get assigned and then we get assigned court dates." But she says so far they're hearing good things from Amanda's lawyers.

"We had a big conference call today with Amanda's lawyers out of Rome...He's trying to read through 427 pages...but he did have some highlights for us, and he's actually very encouraged by what he's reading."
