Americans need to remember the risk is real, whenever they leave American soil, especially when they do so illegally.

BBM

Sadly, Americans risk their lives on American soil as well..... day in & day out... & even in foreign countries when entered LEGALLY

My husband & I leave for Mexico in a couple weeks for my birthday & I gotta say with all this I am not looking forward to it as much... I'm thinking prior would of been a much better time. LOL I remember being in Germany during the Gulf War & it was not particularly a great time for Americans with all the propoganda & unrest at the time.

TY also says her next gun will be an AK 47 - Feb 8 2010

WOW!

I am amazed she hasn't removed anything since this all happened.

TY is also asking for donations for the David Hartley memorial fund. You do this via "The Family Church" and you have to make sure that you put on the donation that it is for David and Tiffany. October 6 2010

I don't know about anyone else, but does anyone find it weird that they were asking for donations for a memorial 6 days after this man was shot?

Wouldn't the main thing to be working on was retrieving his body and a funeral?? - not asking for money for a memorial.

This just strikes me as mercenary.

Ohhhhhh....... I forgot to remind you all to change names to initials, please. This is how things are generally done, but it seems we are getting off track everywhere. The only place you don't have to change names to initials is for a perp or victim or when you are making a direct quote from MSM. If the person is a minor in the MSM article, then you change the name to initials.

Hope that makes sense. So here we have TH; TY and NH right?

Thanks,

Salem

I read her Facebook.

So she collects guns. Big deal.

So she shoots guns. Big deal.

She's also pro-life, likes healthy food, hiking, Harley's and is not a fan of Obama.

Where is the crime in any of that?

Actually, she would fit right in the smallest county in Texas that I call home.

I would be glad to have her for a friend and especially a neighbor.

TY (Tiffany's sister) Facebook

On Feb 9 2010 - TY is waiting on David to buy an AR 15 and states he lives in Mexico. She offers to break it in for him until he comes back to the States.

http://www.facebook.com/people/Tia-Young/728373643#!/profile.php?id=713984458&v=wall

Nothing illegal about an AR-15 (I have one myself), unless someone has been disqualifying from owning firearms at all due to a felony conviction. Full-auto AK-47s are illegal, but not the semi-auto versions. The only thing illegal that's even implied by this is the issue of buying a gun for someone else's use (i.e. to circumvent NICS background check on the person the gun is actually intended to go to), but it's not clear that this is what she's saying.

I find it weird that he is still not just considered a missing person after all we only have the wives word that he is dead and she is not a physician or Medical examiner. I don't understand their hurry in having a memorial service when technically, IMO, he should still be just a missing person. What if, per chance, he is still alive, perhaps the bullet just grazed him and he passed out. JMO.

I respectfully disagree with your opinion. I see a big difference between a gun and an assault rifle - especially one that she feels the need to obtain from Mexico. In her pictures she isn't exactly at a shooting range practicing her hobby, she is in front of a barn and other buildings.

No problem with anyone owning guns here on my end but I will pass on having her for a neighbor!

No, it isn't clear and often people state something off the cuff which isn't true at all, especially in texts and facebook postings.

I just think the gun aspect is interesting, not for TY - she could be "annie get your gun" for all I'd care, it is more to do with David owning guns.

David and Tiffany were not unaware how dangerous Mexico could be, they lived there for a few years, they were aware of how dangerous the lake could be. David and Tiffany both talked about a plan should they be confronted by pirates, alleged by Tiffany anyway.

I'm just wondering if he took a gun with him when they went to the lake and if he did so did he use it and cause the pirates to fire on them in return.

What about this scenario - The pirates come towards David and Tiffany, they both get scared and draw a gun, maybe fire a warning shot towards the pirates and then all hell breaks loose. Maybe the gun wasn't registered, maybe Tiffany could be concerned of getting into trouble if they fired first.

I don't believe Tiffany set this up to murder her husband, maybe she could have done it accidentally by firing back at the pirates. This makes sense to me more so than anything I have heard so far.

Indeed. I realize she's had other things on her mind, but you'd think a friend or relative would have alerted/reminded her about these postings, and suggested making her Facebook account private. Casual chattering about passing around high-powered rifles between herself and her now-missing-and-alleged-to-be-dead-from-gunshot brother-in-law just doesn't look good.

It just blows my mind what people put on these social networking sites and open themselves up to just by joining. You couldn't pay me to have a Facebook account. I enjoy internet sleuthing, but not enough to connect myself in any way with that notorious security minefield. I just read that the latest Facebook "improvement" allows people to be added to groups without their knowledge or consent, resulting in people discovering their profiles showed them being members of a "NAMBLA" Facebook group. Uhhh, no thanks.

Could be. I've sort of been leaning toward the idea that they were involved in drug-running, and a deal went bad. In that scenario, she wouldn't have been planning for him to get shot/killed, and she'd be genuinely upset that he did, but she definitely wouldn't be wanting to tell the whole truth about what happened to him.

They'd have been crazy not to own guns, both when they lived in Mexico and while living in southern Texas and liking to spend time roaming around by themselves, even if they weren't involved in anything illegal. And guns (other than full-autos) don't need to be "registered" in the US, except in a few miserable states. Definitely not in Texas.

Somebody who's still alive wouldn't want it known that they'd carried a gun across the border from the US to Mexico, because Mexico likes to bring criminal charges in order to make political hay about guns from the US being the cause of the epidemic of violence there (doesn't make much sense, since life is a lot more peaceful in the alleged source of all these guns, but politicians generally don't make much sense). But if he's really dead, and a gun *he* was carrying was involved in a shoot-out that killed him, there really wouldn't be any legal risk to TH in sharing that information with investigators, and obviously none to DH. And with no witnesses, it's not like anybody could prove she had carried a gun across the border anyway.
