Mexico - Kaleo Skye, 3 & Roxy Rain 10 mos, killed by dad, Rosarito, 10 Aug 2021 *arrest in CA*

“While waiting for her to come, I kept feeling this sense that she was going to be born at a very pivotal time in history and that she would represent a dawn, or even awakening, to years of great blessing for our family and nation,” he wrote. “Another picture that came to me was of God reaching down into a river bed and picking up a small stone (rock), examining it intently. Just as David had done before slaying Goliath, God examined the stone and was confident that it was just the perfect one for the battle. Although it was small, smooth and somewhat harmless looking, he knew that it would become great when placed into the palm of a skilled hand. My declaration over Roxy Rain is that she has been hand picked by God to slay the giants in the land.”

This is really bizarre IMO. It's so grandiose that it's almost as if he is comparing her to Jesus. Because he thinks deep down that he is pretty much God. And he clearly perceives a 'battle' going on. Who are the 'giants in the land?'? The lizards? The illuminati? Democrats? The media?

I also think he wanted a boy. In the Bible, only boys slay.

He called her "wifey" an article pointed out. I suspect he was kind of irritating on a steady basis, but that's JMO. They looked close and in tune on social media and pics. I'm waiting to hear why he decided she was suddenly serpent material. They might've been fighting because he just kept getting more and more "Q ish".

Oh, I think he described his son's birth in the same way. He ordained both his children with the heavy burden of God's job for them. Then, he threw those ideas away and they became future monsters.

...In regards to CC, the most recent article in the SB independent I posted earlier states that he was not a member of CC. Though I am sure he was in some way connected as he'd been involved in their surf ministry at some point. That said, one of his page follows is Bethel Church in Redding, that church is on the fringe of evangelicalism, and wanders into dangerous territory, IMO. So all of his 'images and visions' would be VERY normal at Bethel. Many take trips to attend their classes and conventions, etc. CC, however, is really a mainstream christian evangelical denomination. I have tons of friends who attend a CC- none are Q or illuminati followers, very charismatic, or off the beaten path. Of course you are going to find some Q followers in it just as you would in the general public. JMO.

Here's that article you mentioned. I find what you shared about him following Bethel Church in Redding begs for me to search it out and see why you say it's veering off the CC path. He was searching out more "visions and secrets". Not satisfied, and this guy had a charmed life if you ask me. I'd call him "enlightment greedy."

The Coleman Murders: A Community in Shock - The Santa Barbara Independent

"A surf student who had taken lessons from Coleman in the early 2010s was equally dumbfounded that a leader of his Christian surf camp could commit murder. Coleman had struck him as an adamant evangelical and also a typical Santa Barbara water guy: a sportsman, spear fisher, and surfer. “He was always very cheerful and upbeat, sometimes to the point of being a little unsettling,” the former student said, who broke with his Christian group in high school."

"The Santa Barbara surfing community is a tight one, and the Christian surf community especially so. Calvary Chapel in Santa Barbara has held a surf ministry for years, which Coleman participated in, though he wasn’t a member of the congregation. Senior Pastor Tommy Schneider held a special call on the Wednesday after the murders were announced, giving his congregation time to talk about what they were feeling. He tried to comfort them and make sense of how a seemingly nice guy could go so wrong."

“We’ve seen people get carried away by things like conspiracy,” Pastor Tommy said he told his congregation. “It can be dangerous, although I’m not sure what that means for Matthew … As Jesus said: Don’t be deceived; walk in love. This walk for Matthew obviously changed course; he lost his focus.” BBM

This case makes my head spin in a hundred directions. It's just such a sad thing.
I appreciate your posts. I'm reading, but sitting on my hands.

I also want to highlight a passage from a recent news article because I feel it adds some valuable context (i.e., that Coleman didn't just suddenly become a Q fanatic overnight):

"The Coleman Murders: A Community in Shock," Santa Barbara Independent, 18 August 2021.
<snipped & BBM>

The surf-instructor acquaintance said that he had heard from other members of Santa Barbara’s surfing community, from people close to the Coleman family, that Coleman and his wife, Abby, had been researching QAnon and Illuminati theories over the past year. Coleman would bring it up with his friends, saying how crazy it sounded, but also how it kind of made sense.

Plus, she turned out to be just an ordinary baby: crying, pooping, spitting up, wailing through the night, getting wet, getting hungry, refusing to eat, pooping...

And her older brother, having passed that stage, would be in constant disobedience, throwing tantrums, getting into everything, making messes, capable of killing himself unless watched every moment. But at least, when he was the only child, his Mom could cope, though it's unlikely Daddy got much attention, and then when there were two children, Mom is constantly frazzled and home was probably not at all what you might picture God's home to be.

I wonder what his relationship is like with his family (parents, siblings, etc) and if they are as religious and conservative as MTC.

Interesting you mention his family. He did have several "tribute" type posts about his Dad. Nothing about his Mom or any siblings that I recall? He said his Dad was a "God Lover", so I assume that means he was religious.

Nothing makes more sense, no matter what he was thinking. MTC did not explain fully where he got the idea, whether it was the "Demon Seed" excuse why he had to kill his children or he suddenly saw his wife in a bad light.

All we know is he thought the kids would turn into monsters from his wife's supposed Serpent DNA and wreck havoc on the world. He confessed and only mentioned "QAnon and The Illuminati" conspiracy theories.

He could've taken any Bible, or other church's teachings, and mixed it into his own unique ideology blend to fit his misled reasoning for killing them. I sure hope there is no church telling people their children are evil or suggesting some shouldn't be alive.

All just MOO

It's totally sad that he went that killing route. At the very least, he might've had a personality disorder and been disingenuous, but he seemed to have been promoting a healthy lifestyle. He was an involved father. Also, he might've been a good influence and model for the young children in the surfing community.

Adding to the community in various ways-- his school offered a program "for the past 3 years Lovewater has been working with a group of amazing young girls who were recently rescued from human trafficking" to help them get a renewed sense of identity.

There's great family pics and many of his social media comments about his family life on the right side of this article.

It stuns me that he wrote his son couldn't wait to go spear fishing. How does a mind block out all the parental love felt for a child? How does a parent ignore and disregard the look of trust from his child? Ten months ago he raved ab out his daughter being born, and then he did what he did. :(:(:(:(:( All MOO, and thoughts.

MOD NOTE:

Please do not bring extensive off topic discussion of ‘serpent dna’ to this thread at this time. While it has been mentioned in news reports as a motivation for the perpetrator of this horrendous crime, discussion of this topic threatens to veer this thread off topic. LE will let us know if/when such conspiracy beliefs are an integral part of the crime committed. There is also no indication at this time that the perp was a member of any particular church, so that line of speculation is not appropriate.

In addition, sleuthing anyone except the accused is not allowed. Websleuths is victim friendly, family members are considered victims, and their social media sites and comments are off limits.

THANK YOU all for helping keep this thread focused on the victims of this awful crime.

RSBM and italicized.

It appears from that article that he wrote "Kaleo can't wait to go spearfish" in Nov 2018, ie the boy was 1 month old.

Yes, it was a bit of a joke, but this just seems to me to be a very narcissistic attitude: firstly, brand new father posting show-off photo of himself, rather than expressing pride in his newborn, and then joking that an infant wants to grow up as quickly as possible and be just like Daddy.

IMO, posing with your children as props on your social media, to impress family and friends, doesn't mean you actually love them.

It was all for the gram
If he cared so much about that, then do you think it appealed to him that his crimes would give him notoriety?

ADMIN NOTE:

WS does not allow discussion of conspiracy theories.

While "serpent dna" may be referenced as the alleged motive in this case, the actual concept itself is a QAnon conspiracy theory and it is not up for discussion at Websleuths.

I know that I am completely oversimplifying this and in doing so, also discounting the all consuming power of belief that some people have religiously and historically in the so-called 'serpent DNA', but I keep thinking (stupidly) -- so your kids have serpent dna, so they are 'predestined'' to be monsters.. Lets say you believe that. Why, if you love them at all (or ever loved them), wouldn't you fight like heck to HELP them? Why wouldn't you be motivated to fight FOR your babies, instead of fighting to obliterate them? Why not seek out an exorcism (never thought I would suggest that in my life)?
How does parental love and the need to protect your babies get overpowered by a desire or 'obligation' to 'rid the world of evil' - only based on visions and voices. Why isn't fatherly love enough to make him question these beliefs, to seek spiritual guidance, to reach out to family and tell them with concern that you believe your babies are 'tainted' and they need help, that you need help.
Or why not be open about his 'devil spawns' and suggest to people around him that they needed to be eliminated? Embarrassment, arrogance, cold premeditated awareness? Why was it on him and him alone to take irreversible, fatal action .. Is it a god-complex?

Is it just so simple that these conspiracies COMPLETELY render all connections to reality and love obsolete? Did he ever love these children, his wife? Was the entirety of the image he presented professionally, to friends, on social media fraudulent?

I know that my rationale is (thankfully) nothing like MTC's but I doubt that even if he was completely transparent about his mindset and how it evolved, I would still not begin to understand where he was coming from.

Who else is at risk for doing/likely to do this to their babies, their loved ones? What can we do to help these perpetrators or expose them, to help the innocent would-be victims?

(This post is all MOO.)

Here's MTC's "declaration" like he knows everything God thinks.
"...My declaration over Roxy Rain is that she has been hand picked by God to slay the giants in the land.”
Matthew Taylor Coleman, California Surf School Owner, Allegedly Killed Kids After 'Enlightened' by QAnon (thedailybeast.com)
...His daughter was hand picked by God, he said, so why'd MTC have to kill her only ten months after her glorious birth. She was a gift.
MOO,... Children are a gift, but his came with a declaration of their mission because he said so.
'predestined'' to be monsters.. Lets say you believe that. Why, if you love them at all (or ever loved them), wouldn't you fight like heck to HELP them? Why wouldn't you be motivated to fight FOR your babies, instead of fighting to obliterate them?
Excellent post voicing what a hard time we're having understanding how he could do it. Yes, that's true, he could've fought the urge to obliterate them and seek help. I guess he couldn't go to his wife though because she had the bad "serpent blood DNA". I wonder if he had any spiritual counselor? Probably not, as he felt he had "a direct link". MOO only.
How does parental love and the need to protect your babies get overpowered by a desire or 'obligation' to 'rid the world of evil' - only based on visions and voices.
I'm struggling with the same questions. Beautiful children, innocent and trusting, and he must have felt something for them.
Why was it on him and him alone to take irreversible, fatal action .. Is it a god-complex?
Ah, now that you mention it, I think so from what he says.

I admittedly am not a mental illness expert, but from the post about Roxies birth, he definitely seemed to be grandiose and narcissistic in his thinking, is that delusions of grandeur? Perhaps bipolar, a bit manic? I am as wary of the QAnon movement as anyone, but I think the combination of an underlying mental health issue with a steady diet of conspiracies that reinforce beliefs about being special, chosen, in on a secret only the enlightened know, was the deadly combination.

Super interesting discussion. I am fascinated by algorithms, yet terrified by what they can do, whoever said we should code for morality… That is such a brilliant and profound statement. But then whose morality becomes the question.

And this is all well and good but at the end of the day two beautiful little babies lost their lives to what I can only think of as madness.

  • #320
He says Q-Anon and the Illuminati conspiracy theories and gave no other reasons. I don't know what else is going on with him. His wife sounds taken by surprise. So, I don't think he has any past history of mental illness on record, or she didn't know about it perhaps.

MOO, he might, as it seems, have a NPD which is in the Cluster B of personality disorders, but nothing that's going to explain or excuse his horrifying killing of his own children. Now his wife is left with no children and struggling to go on. SMH
