2/7/25 Update: Coleman's drawn-out three-year wait for trial has been delayed numerous times as courts decide whether he is mentally competent to face murder charges, with a judge ruling this week that the issue must be decided by 2/18/25. Sources told the New York Post that his mental health has continued to deteriorate behind bars. He has repeatedly attempted to mutilate himself while under supervision. This has reportedly included cutting himself with a razor, slamming his head against the floor, punching himself in the face & diving headfirst into a toilet. Attorneys for Coleman only have until Feb. 18 to agree to a treatment plan for the QAnon disciple. The judge overseeing the case, Cathy Ann Bencivengo, has said that she won't grant further extensions to Coleman's defense to respond in court to the federal Bureau of Prisons' treatment plans.

2/6/25

According to documents filed in federal court last month, attorneys on both sides have repeatedly asked the court to extend the deadlines for trial, because the 43-year-old is unable to help prepare his own defense.

The next hearing is on Feb. 18, and the judge has said there will be no more extensions in the case

Feds are noting that there has been no discernible progress with Coleman’s mental health in the past several months.

[..]

He has been [involuntarily] medicated since May.

April 3, 2025

atthew Taylor Coleman, the California father accused of killing his two children with a spearfish gun after believing that they had serpent DNA, has continued to harm himself behind bars — and authorities are seeking to involuntarily administer antipsychotic drugs to restore his competency to stand trial.

Coleman, now 43, was treated for injuries last month after he slammed his head into the wall, the Daily Mail has learned. He had bitten his tongue.

The former surf instructor has repeatedly attempted to harm himself, according to court documents.

Both the prosecution and the defense concede that he has slammed his head into a toilet, repeatedly cut his arms and legs, and punched himself in the face over and over.

Coleman is on suicide watch, and authorities have removed most dangerous objects from his cell.

Things have gotten so bad that both the prosecution and defense have agreed to a closed-door hearing on April 15 to discuss the legal issues of medicating him against his will.

Thanks! At least I could shorten my stuff a bit! :)

Many docket entries during the past 15 months have intentionally been omitted from the Docket (sealed) pursuant to HIPAA since they relate to the defendant's health.

I expect the same to continue until they come to a decision whether or not he's been restored competent. But I don't think Govt has evidence forcing zombie drugs on him will restore him to competency so the case continues at a standstill. I think it's going to be one expert's opinion vs another expert. At least the parties agree he's not going anywhere where he remains on suicide watch.
