I think of Shanquella often and hope for justice for her.

Wow, I am baffled! There’s video evidence this woman was beaten, how have these people not been charged and locked up?? Did they identify the person in the video who attacked her?

Well, it occurred in Mexico, in their jurisdiction. But they don't seem interested in pursuing it.

That’s awful. I hate to think of how many unsolved cases there are in Mexico. Most probably don’t even make it to the media.

The FBI took the case over, because the 'friends' had left Mexico. It's all upthread.

While this took place in Mexico, those under suspicion are Americans, as well as the victim. And, the Americans all returned to the US. So I think it would be very hard for a Mexican prosecutor to get the US to send a US citizen or citizens back to Mexico for a trial for killing a fellow US citizen in Mexico. There have to be massive jurisdictional issues and red tape. MOO.

Plus, in the meantime, at least one of he suspects has since moved to a different state and legally changed their name. (See upthread.)

I feel for the victim and her loved ones. It's should be clear cut to get justice and, instead, it's just a gnarled mess. Imo.

Sadly I don’t think there ever will be. There’s clear evidence and no law enforcement have acted on it or pursued it far enough it seems.

Where is it said that the FBI "took over" the case? And what does that mean?

I don't remember, it was 2 years ago.

Start here, this is all the effort I'm going to put into it

The FBI opened an investigation. It has not authority to "take over." The primary jurisdiction for this lay with the Mexican officials. The FBI's jurisdiction is limited. But even at that, what have they done? A couple interviews and that is all.

What's 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 up about the US not wanting to deal with an offshore murder investigation... that oughta sway Americans from wanting to travel abroad for fear that if ANYTHING should go wrong where they find themselves needing help from their government. It's so 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 up. The fact that there's video proof, and that there were so many lies and inconsistencies. I think of how she's getting ZERO justice. And even if the Robinsons sue in civil court and are awarded $$, they'll never see it because chances are those kids don't have that kind of money. I think they were jealous of her and took it out on her...
I am just pissed off --- it makes NO SENSE!

“I’d rather for the case to be handled here in the United States, because you came back and lied to the whole United States,” Bernard Robinson said. “I just want justice.”

Wednesday’s hearing came as part of one of two lawsuits the Robinson family has filed.

In addition to the wrongful death case, the family is also suing the FBI and U.S. State Department for $100 million, claiming a lack of diligence in the investigation.”

Thank you for posting this. I can't believe its been close to three years! The C.o.D. contradiction(s) are understatedly unnerving, and probably the most telling of this case. IMO

This one always plays through my head. Even IF these "friends" did not kill her. They are all terrible people. The 1 "friend" changing their name didn't work. I hope people keep pressure on her.
