MI MI - Adele Wells, 7, Flint, 21 Nov 1958

It doesn’t seem like every case is automatically cross checked. The state of Virginia seems to have run their cases through. It probably requires a bunch of money to do that.

The uid didn’t have any comparisons. Neither did Adele. The doe was found in Detroit, about an hour’s drive from Flint, where Adele lived. It is haunting how similar the faces look. I’ve never felt compelled to submit a match before.
I'm just going by what NamUs reps have told me in the past. There's always exceptions, though, like a DNA profile being listed as available but it's not in CODIS. They only list manually compared cases, not auto rule out ones. So if there are no comparisons listed, most likely it's not because there are no ruleouts at all, it could be because there are no manual ruleouts to report. Or they're behind on updates. And this all could have changed since the last time I submitted a case, that's why I suggested submitting it anyway.

I agree with the recommendation to send in your suggested comparison to NAMUS. In addition, I suggest that you include the original investigating agency with your tip.

With these Cold Cases, there is a regular turnover of case officers. When a tip comes in, it gives them a reason to review the file records.

I was told both the uid and missing person have finger prints on file. I have reached out to the investigating agencies.
