Family members say Beebe and Howarth had been dating on and off for five years. The couple had issues, the family said, but none that would have tipped them off he would hurt Howarth.

"Not in a million years," said Rebecca Nickerson, Beebe's sister. "I couldn't begin to understand it."

Also perplexing to Nickerson is why Henslee was involved. Sheriff's department investigators wouldn't comment on a motive in a news conference Friday morning.

"I couldn't imagine him having any problem with Amy," Nickerson said. "Amy's too sweet of a person. She's too much of a good, kind-hearted person for anybody to ever be angry at her."

Nickerson and two other Beebe's family members said Beebe has problems dealing with anger.

It will be very interesting to see who the victim is on the one homicide charge. For some reason I think he confessed to killing Tonya.

I do find him confessing to one murder and not the other very puzzling. He knows one murder like this can get him LWOP so he had nothing to lose by confessing to both if he killed both.

I think there are a lot of things about this case that are unknown now that would make it clearer if we knew them.

IMO

Maybe it is just the way they worded it in their reporting.

From:

http://www.woodtv.com/dpp/news/local/sw_mich/family-says-Beebe-has-anger-issues

A man accused of killing two women in Van Buren County has confessed he killed at least one of them, family members told 24 Hour News 8.
Also from that article:

Family members say Beebe and Howarth had been dating on and off for five years. The couple had issues, the family said, but none that would have tipped them off he would hurt Howarth.

Nickerson and two other Beebe's family members said Beebe has problems dealing with anger.

"He's got anger issues," Nickerson said. "There's no doubt about that. He's hot-headed."

for some reason this morning I was thinking that he'd only confessed to one murder, because he's going to blame the 2nd murder on one of the women. Then he'll say he murdered the other because of it. Or some variation of that.

So now the neighbor said she saw the black truck with a plow pull into the driveway and when it left it had a man and two smaller females.

Is this the relative that originally said he went to the house and no one was home?

IF it is, he probably said that to account for his truck being at the Henslee home.

The friend of the Henslee's was saying what the neighbor saw. Originally the neighbor told LE it was a male, or a male and one female. But when this woman (spokesman) and her hubby talked to the neighbor later, they then said it was a male and two females that left the home in a black truck. It was sometime between 9 - 9:30.

Earlier in another news conference, LE said they believe they were both killed at the same time and the morning of Amy's disappearance, Monday.

For any of you wondering about the "open" murder charge I found this. I knew what it meant but had to refresh my memory on the details...

Open Murder: [MCL 767.71] -- Michigan law does not require a prosecutor to choose between First Degree or Second Degree Murder when issuing a complaint, or even at trial. A prosecutor may charge "Open Murder", which is a combination of First and Second Degree Murder, and the jury may determine the appropriate degree based on the proofs.

This is so tragic! The victims and the perp had children and it is horrible that they have to go through all of this.

I honestly don't see what the motive was here. But I wonder if his gf and he were fighting that morning and perhaps the gf said something that Amy had told her and that set him off. Even if it was something like "Amy tells me I should leave you."

It seems to me the minds of this forum could have solved this case before le! Does it seem Unusual to just involve your cousin in law? There is way more to this story then meets the eye!

Do any of the articles say whether Howarth and Henslee knew each other?

From looking at the news reports and the presser, it seems pretty clear that both Amy and Tonya are dead. I'm curious what the motive is. I'll be watching this one closely.

I am not sure what you mean by "Does it seem Unusual to just involve your cousin in law?"

People who are family members or extended family members or even aquantainces can murder someone they knew and do ..unfortunately.

So I am not quite sure what you are saying.

Imo, it has to be so hard for James to comprehend his own kin has shattered his and his children's lives, and not only that, but has shattered Jr's family's life and Tonya's family too.

I agree! way more to this case! WS members are always on ball!

I do feel that LE was too! They did great job not waiting and getting on it asap!

It still bothers me how isolated Amy was :(

Take this with a grain of salt but HLN refers to Howarth and Amy as friends.

Very possible, from the looks of some comments on Tonya's memorial page (link in post #489) other friends were trying to tell Tonya something too.

I'm having trouble getting over how sad this all is.... :(

How was she isolated? A neighbor saw everything..thank goodness...so she wasnt isolated imo.

She was a stay at home mom and she seem to throughly enjoy that role.
