Police canvassing southwest Detroit neighborhood for missing 2-year-old boy
"Detroit police are actively looking for a 2-year-old boy who was reported missing Friday morning in southwest Detroit.
Police say the boy's name is Aries Washington. He's 3 feet tall and weighs around 40 lbs. He has short braided twisties in his hair, and was wearing a blue and white striped hoodie, blue jogging pants and black boots.
Police say the child went missing in the area of Yale and Melville Street, which is in a neighborhood near Zug Island. Police were seen there earlier this morning canvassing the streets and still have tracking dogs in the area.
We're told the boy and his father were sleeping outside under an awning, and when the father woke up around 5:30 a.m. he said the boy was gone. A neighbor tells us she heard screaming right around the same time and wondered what was going on.
If you think you see the boy you're asked to contact Detroit police."
