“The Detroit Police Department will not comment on the quantity nor the quality of any evidence or information we have gathered to date,” Godbee said in the statement. “However, in the interest of allaying some of the fears of the public regarding the apparent randomness of Bianca's disappearance, the authenticity and credibility of the original version of events is under intense scrutiny by our investigative team.”

In the interest of allaying fears of the public? Um, no, Detroit PD does not have the money to reexamine an entire investigation because of public fears. I call BS. I believe they are scrutinizing the original story, but not because of public fears. MOO.

I am still stuck on the dates of his jail time and discharge. His first offense was on 9-8-2002. Sentenced 11-20-2002 Discharged 9-13-2004.

His next offense was on 6-28-2003. This does not add up with the above time in jail. He was in jail (according to http://mdocweb.state.mi.us/otis2/otis2profile.aspx?mdocNumber=435673 ) all of 2003.

Hope someone can clear this up and I hope Bianca is found soon.

One thing I've seen addressed here, but not by the media or LE: Did DL have a cell phone? He apparently had to run to another family member's home to report the carjacking, but why no cell phone? It's really easy to get a prepaid government phone in MI (I don't know if it's harder nationally, but I get offers for them in the mail all the time, and I'm not even on assistance of any kind, it's because I live in a low income area.) Most anyone can get one of those. One would expect in this day and age, either for him to have a cell phone or to stop every person he saw on the way to the family member's house and ask them to call 911 from their cell phone. I know I would. I would run to the nearest house I knew, but I would also be screaming about my baby the whole way, knocking on every door I saw, begging someone to please call the police. But it really doesn't sound like that's what happened, and that is where a lot of my suspicion of the father comes from.

After seeing his court records, I wonder if maybe there weren't another unsecured firearm laying around at his new home, and Bianca found it. The other girl's mother might be silent if that were the case so that she doesn't lose her live-in and her child for risking their life, as well as Bianca's. Or my original thoughts that Bianca got into her father's stash.

I took it to mean that while they won't comment on actual evidence, they were going to (and did) comment on the sketchiness of the fathers story. In other words, they don't believe him either and therefore the public doesn't need to worry about some random people running around stealing babies. JMO.

If he were on parole or probation, that would also be listed on the MDOC page, the same as his probation sentence for recieving stolen property. Unless someone updating the system dropped the ball. I'm looking for it now, but last night, I had a court case of his where he was fighting his conviction on possession of cocaine and heroin. He won the fight and the heroin conviction was removed from his record. But the court papers are still out there. Give me a few and I'll have the link. I might have to switch to my laptop to find it.

Never mind, here it is: http://statecasefiles.justia.com/do...20070322_C267081_48_267081.OPN.PDF?1316645184

I'm going to summarize these to the best of my ability. In March of 2007, his appeal on the convictions that we already have heard about went to court. He had been convicted in a jury trial of the crimes we have seen linked a million times, but also possession of between 25 and 50 grams of heroin. He was sentenced as a habitual offender, and that got him a minimum of two years that he had to serve. He tried to say that there was not enough evidence to have convicted him of being a felon in possession, or having a firearm during a felony crime. The court did not agree. Apparently when he was arrested for the charges, it was during a police raid on a known drug house. Dandre was found standing naked in the living room of the drug house when officers entered the house. He ran, they followed, and caught him in a bedroom, on the bed, trying to throw drugs out the window. In that bedroom, they also found more drugs and a gun under the bed and almost $500 in cash. Dandre admitted that he lived at the drug house and also at another house. That admission is what led to the court's decision that the gun was his and that he had access to it while committing another felony, which would be the drug possession. Those drugs likely were heroin and cocaine, not just cocaine, as shows in his records.
When he went in front of the jury, they were not instructed correctly as to the stipulations for convicting him of possession of both substances, and although his defense did not object during the trial, on appeal, they vacated the heroin conviction. It wasn't clear, even to the court, how much he had in terms of drugs, since only a portion of the drugs found with him were weighed, and both the cocaine and heroin weighed and recorded by LE were in amounts much less than 25 grams. It appears the full amounts were never weighed by LE.

So really, all they know for sure is that this guy was found in a drug house, nekkid as a jaybird, and caught in close proximity to a firearm, with drugs in his possession that could have been a small amount for personal use, or a large amount for distribution. No one knows.

That sounds like a total mess.

Dumb question...why not weigh the drugs?

My thoughts too. I think that by Friday night, probably, LE had doubts about his story, I know I did. It doesn't make it any less important to find her, but far less likely she will be found alive...

If (big IF, imo)...he really was carjacked..then any phone he'd have had would likely have still been in the car. (I'm sure LE is all over those pings moving backward in time from the 911 call)

Even if the carjacking/kidnapping was staged, he could have left the phone in the car to make it look more realistic. After all, if he were just stepping out to check out his rear lights, why take his phone?

This is a post that I made in response to another on the Mariha Smith forum. I want to share it here so that those who are unfamiliar with the city will better understand the "lifestyle".

Truth is sometimes not a welcome thing, and I find that sad. My black neighbors and I talk about eveything, and there IS a big difference in the way people go about things, although Detroit is a mystery to some of my black friends.

I could say more, but I like it here.

I concur. I grew up in Detroit but settled in the northern 'burbs after college. DH worked in the city until just a few years ago. We do go downtown for cultural/sports events, and there are some fine downtown eateries. Other than that, most areas of Detroit aren't safe. There are enormous cultural differences among the races and other ethnic groups that live in the city. It's a different lifestyle that many don't understand. Sadly, the Detroit where I lived most of my young years is long gone and will likely never return.

To NotMyKids: The public search is today at 2:00 @ "the central district on the boulevard". As stated on one of the aunties FB pages..asking for help from Northenders. Not sure if I'm allowed to post her name to give you more direction..but her initials are E.N. if that helps.

edit due to my lower case "P" turning into an emote? lol

Michigan Dept. of Corrections sites are notoriously bad for what they often don't include. If you get early release (overcrowding, good behavior, etc)...you are still listed under original sentencing discharge date in some cases, even though you were back on the streets before that date. I know of someone personally who was out for a full 9 months prior to his listed discharge date...and his record at mdoc doesn't show a parole status. But thats just one anecdotal incident.

I'll keep it in mind. I want to go and help look for her, although I have no real hope of finding her alive. But, my bf insists that I don't go alone (not like I'd be alone once I got there anyway) and he can't go with me because he has cellulitis in his foot, so any kind of distance walking in a no-no for him right now. Grrrr. I hate feeling stuck, and even though I'm only an hour away, I feel stuck. I don't even know Bianca, or her family, but I just want her found. I feel connected to her, in a weird way. Not that that has helped one little bit in figuring out where she is, though...

Keep in mind he didn't create the composite - an artist did, while looking at him.

I've seen interesting cases where the artist clearly inserts their beliefs of what people look like from the description given.

Does the witness get a chance to okay the final product (composite) before it is distributed?

I have seen such cases as well, Jeanna. I am wondering how the dad could look at this picture and not see the resemblance to some of his own characteristics. The eyebrows - or their expression - stood out to me in particular. I just think that if an artist showed me a composite and it looked just like me, I'd be all..."Great job! You drew a lovely sketch of ME. Can we work on the unkown person now?!"

I also agree with whomever said about the aliases not being a big deal in and of themselves. Imagine my surprise when I found out I had aliases...Jane Doe, Jane Q. Doe, and Jane Q. Dod (courtesy of a misspelling on a credit card that expired almost 7 years ago).

Hopefully, there will be media coverage of the search today. DH and I will be out for a while this evening and won't see the 6:00 news, but I'm sure that others here will watch and report. If you're not local, I know that WDIV live-streams news at www.clickondetroit.com

aw..I understand completely what you're saying, feeling. I do agree with your bf though. Would be nice if we could get a group from the burbs to come together to help search, give support. I'd go with you myself but I can't today..have a family death benefit later today.

Bianca's family does seem to have a good support system going, thank goodness.

Count me in - as long as someone else drives. I don't do freeways any more; traffic moves too fast, and I get skeered  Haven't seen moderator nursebeme here this weekend, but she lives nearby, too.

I understand, it is how I feel about Lauren Giddings and Lauren Spierer. I don't even live close to where they disappeared from (or for LG, where she was killed)!
