GUILTY MI - Carnel Chamberlain, 4, Mount Pleasant, 21 June 2012 #2

  • #581
Also from the fox17online link provided above by southernnana:

"On June 21, Bennett was watching 4 year old Carnel while his mother was at work. When she returned home, she reported the child missing. Three days later, after an extensive search, the boy's burned body was found under the porch at the home, which is located on tribal land in Mt. Pleasant."

BBM. I don't remember the source, but do remember reading something about this. The search was continued and the finding of remains was not announced until 6/28. Another point I don't understand in this case.

(Please bear with me as I figure out how to use formatting in my posts.)

I distinctly remember reading on the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe website that there is a false report that Carnel's body was found. I went to look for the pdf but they no longer have it posted.

An amazing tribute to a beautiful little boy. Kevin Chamberlain did a fantastic job with this video.

Ditto! I would love to see Kevin Chamberlain join us here at websleuths. I think he might be the only one able to answer some of the questions presented upthread with regards to the legal stuff. I have the utmost respect and admiration for how he has handled the situation. He is a true voice for not only his family, but the community as a whole. He is an example for us all.

Some of the legal questions, such as the 3 Strikes Law and is the Death Penalty applicable in AB's case is info the tribe has. As a former Chief and probably future Chief, Kevin Chamberlain would have those answers. :)

This is the only media link that I could find of Carnel's body being found on the 28th, several media links dated the 29th, referring to the 28th. I know there have to be others as I was online reading everthing that came out once LE converged at the home around midday on the 28th with the dog(s).

MOUNT PLEASANT (WWJ/AP) – The body of a 4-year-old boy missing for a week was found buried Thursday at his home, a family spokesman said.
Carnel Chamberlain’s body was found under a wood porch or deck at the home on the reservation of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe, 70 miles north of Lansing, Kevin Chamberlain said.

The body “had to be in a grave. We had looked underneath before and didn’t see anything,” he said.

I thought the remains were found Thursday. I wonder how long it took for forensic anthropologists to determine the remains were human.

So many questions. Including where AB was staying from the time Carnel went missing until the time his remains were found. When the arrest warrant for his person was issued, I'm really curious as to what LE obtained. As far as what they might be testing for forensic evidence. Obviously AB went under the house, so he should have evidence on both his clothing and shoes. What did he do with those? and does LE have custody of both or either?

Also wondering if any of AB's hair might have been on the 'ceiling' of the underneath of the house...... lots of questions, which I am sure we likely won't know until such a time when murder charges are filed.

Here's a link to a NBC YouTube segment about the memorial service, including an interview with KC in which he talks about the "big white elephant in his community." It also addresses the fact that JC was not present at the memorial service. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFh0L-zIuDs&feature=youtu.be

Thank you for posting this video. What Kevin Chamberlain is saying about the 'white elephant' is so true for all communities, no matter the race or ethnicities. The stigma about DV, as well as the knee jerk reactions to it, have to stop. If not, more lives will be lost. Carnel was a beautiful little boy who paid the price because of intimate [familial] violence. His legacy will grow, it seems that Kevin Chamberlain is determined to make that happen.

Would someone please transcribe the interview with Kevin Chamberlain in the above youtube video originally posted by Chella, for those of us without working computer speakers/sound.

If anyone can it would be much appreciated, thank you!

Cubby, here is the video with CC, Closed Caption. Granted they really screw up some words but, for the most part, it is accurate. [If your not getting the CC, look on the bottom right of Youtube screen and you'll see the CC in a red box, click on that and then on English]

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

In effect, Kevin Chamberlain is speaking of how Carnel can make changes in awareness of Domestic Violence on the rez. He is speaking of DV being the 'white elephant' on the rez, it's there but not acknowledged; his mission, in Carnel's honor/name and through the Carnel's Hope for Tomorrow Foundation is to address that 'white elephant'. He doesn't want people to be afraid to speak up, to seek help and to safely get away from abusive situations.

The 'white elephant', in KC's words, "is physical, sexual and emotional abuse". He goes on to say, "I have watched my community tiptoe around this issue my whole life, my whole adult life. I've watched them tiptoe around it. But that door is open now."..."The Carnel Chamberlain Memorial Fund can be his hope, our hope to change the world, to change the face of abuse and violence. He [Carnel] can make a difference, he may not be with us but he can make a difference, he already is."

Kevin Chamberlain, in Carnel's honor and memory is getting it right, he is doing the right thing. He is calling it as he sees it and he is making a difference, again in Carnel's name. For that he is to be applauded. IMHO

I trust that my post won't be off-topic. This morning I'm finally understanding more about my depth of feeling re this case. There's a significant opportunity here for us humans to do a little more healing, to expose what needs to be exposed about domestic violence, acknowledge how things are, and work to change them. It's when things are kept hidden and stereotypes used that nothing changes.

Kevin Chamberlain is a pretty amazing guy. I don't hear him talking about blame or hate.

I think of the hologram, how the whole is reflected in any piece. Seeing KC's commitment and actions to change things through what happened to baby Carnel ... I feel that hope that we can always move towards healing and health. That's the bigger picture that I see. The NBC YouTube video with KC expresses this well. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFh0L-zIuDs

UPDATE: Police return to Carnel Chamberlain's home, searching underneath porch

Published: Friday, June 29, 2012, 2:45 PM Updated: Friday, June 29, 2012, 4:52 PM

MOUNT PLEASANT, MI — Police are back at the scene where family members say Carnel Chamberlain's body was found Thursday night.

The porch has been taken apart from the one-story home and cinder blocks have been removed while authorities search around the home and underneath where the porch previously stood.

One official was crawling under the home, throwing leaves and debris out of the way as he moved.

Officers in uniforms and street clothes were walking in and out of the home Friday afternoon, after a morning of silence on the street.

An official walked out of the home, wearing purple gloves, carrying a large paper bag.

Another officer placed a paper bag of unknown items in the back of a police vehicle.

Authorities have not confirmed or denied that Carnel Chamberlain's body was found.

I just hate sitting here with so little updates avaliable! I hope to god that something can be determined by forensics...does anyone here know much about forecsic analysis? Will they be able to find out his COD by the bones? or what?

To elaborate on the memorial for everyone...it was beautiful. I loved seeing all the pictures I hadn't seen before, he was the most handsome baby boy...So many people congragated for him, it was held in our Casinos entertainment hall because that was the only place big enough in Mt Pleasant to hold all the people!

one person wasn't there though...Carnel's mom. Very unfortunate and kind of disappointing to be honest. I mean I understand it may be a fear thing like there are so many people in our town who are very very mad at her, but that still doesn't stop her from going to or local dance club/bar <modsnip> IMO nothing could keep me from my sons funeral/memorial...

Kevin Chamberlain, the family spokesperson explained that very well in this video, didn't he? He also spoke of Carnel's Hope for Tomorrow:

I very much appreciate how KINDLY you pointed out to me that I said something that is already out there. Sorry to double post, I was just thinking about the memorial and wanted to post my 2 cents.

Knock off personalizing and attacking each other! Its against TOS and everyone here knows it.

If you feel a post is against TOS then alert, keep this thread about Carnel and not about fighting on the board.

If you have questions feel free to pm me or any Mod.

Thank you.
