GUILTY MI - Charlie Bothuell, 12, Detroit, 16 June 2014

  • #701
Next up: Officer Laurie Dillon. No face on video. (Also for next officer, Decker, and Charlie) Defense wants Charlie's face photographed since he's been seen all over the world. Judge Holmes denies that one.

Delay because Officer Dillon has a broken leg and can't find a handicapped entrance.

Officer Dillon has been on the stand for a while. They are showing her from the neck down. Blonde hair, black sweater.

No sound, just Dillard and Goldfarb talking to the judge.

Ms. Goldfarb is going to have to sharpen her teeth and questioning skills because Mr. Dillard doesn't miss a trick.

Found new link with sound.

Interviewed Monique? Dad lectured him for long periods of time. Disciplined by bending over couch, pull down pants, and spank with "switch" aka PVC pipe.

At beginning she spoke softly and got progressively louder. She was looking for the switch. Mr. Bothuell overheard her and joined the conversation. The pipe was usually kept near the couch. Dad said he thought it was upstairs.

He and an officer walked upstairs. The other officer called her upstairs. Officer ? pointed out the piece of PVC pipe was behind the door. Goldfarb is holding the pipe wrapped in brown paper w/evidence tag. She opens it after it is tagged with an evidence number.

It is a piece of white PVC pipe, about 1 1/2'' across. This was found in Charlie's bedroom. It is not evenly cut at the end.

Monique was unclear what shoes he was wearing as all his shoes were accounted for.

A couple of days before his "disappearance" Charlie didn't sleep in his room; he slept on the couch.

Upstairs hall that day. Parents bedroom cluttered. (Hard to hear with all volume pumped up.) I missed the description of the bathroom.

Introducing more evidence and the new link has lost sound!

Anyone have a link with sound?

Returned to house June 25?, 2014.

Came with others, including evidence techs. She was assigned to the upstairs (2nd level) of the house.

On bedroom level, observed a red plastic laundry basket in Charlie's room clothes Charlie was reported last seen in. (Objection/overruled)

I cannot imagine how terrified Charlie must be feeling. These implications about him are just abhorrent! I have worked with many children with diagnoses like IDD, ADD, ADHD, reactive attachment disorders etc, and I'm just appalled at the defense here.

^ I agree. I think putting Charlie - the victim - on trial here will backfire. Unbelievable that these selfish parents want to put the boy through this trial to save their own hides. Poor Charlie. :stormingmad:

Shown pictures of clothing. It matches what Ms. Dillard reported in her statement.

A discovery was made about an hour into the investigation. She went to basement and observed it was extremely cluttered... boxes from floor to ceiling wall-to-wall. A piece of wood across a door. They were taller than the officer.

She observed that the room had been cleaned. (Charlie's???) Found the jacket Charlie was reported to be wearing in a closet near the front door.

Sorry... hard to make out words... but you should get the idea.

Officer Robert George came up to her when outside and said something to her. He was wide-eyed and excited. It was very urgent she come inside. (Objection/hearsay/exception, excited utterance/response/overruled/)

She ran inside and little Charlie was coming from the basement!

Describes him as appearing to be frightened, afraid to come all the way up the steps, (objection sustained). New question.. he was hesitant (objection/continue) She ran over and gave him a hug.

Charlie spoke to her. He was quiet, looking around. She answered his questions and he came all the way up the stairs.

He walked Charlie into the living room and sat him on the couch with another officer. She asked him questions but she can't testify to what he said. He stayed in the living room for a minute and went to get some clothes because he was shivering.

She watched Charlie go upstairs as 2 officers went up with Charlie. Came down after a few minutes.

Came up with a plan of action. How to get Charlie out of the house without attracting attention of media outside. They escorted Charlie out a side door (I think) and brought him to a vehicle that had pulled up to the neighbor's driveway.

She went in the car to McDonalds because Charlie was hungry. Then, they went to the hospital (children's emergency).

She was present when they took pictures. Then, she stayed with Charlie for hours until she was relieved by other officers.

She also had contact with Charlie the next day about 7AM.

She had returned to escort Charlie to an interview at KidsTalk.

While she was physically present, was Charlie coached in anyway, against the guidelines. (not to interview the child)

Dillard constantly objects to any and everything! Most are overruled.

Dillon did not observe anyone telling Charlie what to say.

Dillard wants a restroom break. Court needs to break at 3:15.

They will start at 9 AM tomorrow. (Apparently some people were late today).

She has a homicide investigation at 1:30 tomorrow and she thinks it's a go. But, they need to come prepared to stay just in case.

Adjourned for the day. Continue tomorrow morning at 9:00 and possibly at 1:30PM pending another case.

I can't wait to hear testimony about :dramaqueen: Mr. Bothuell on the Nancy Grace show :D

I hope they play the video. NG's expressions are priceless, especially when she tells him his son is ALIVE! It doesn't change his hyperventilation at all!

Back to Jerice Shockley murder trial now!

2011 was diagnosed with being obese at 95% range

At Children's hospital he wasn't over 95% and not considered obese. He should not have been given that regimen of exercise. It was one of the components of torture.

Nazer goes over the same information of child torture she gave yesterday.

Just my 2 cents. These numbers can be somewhat misunderstood. Each year both of my boys, on paper, fall into what is considered obese per these percentages. My 14 year old is 6'1" and 208 lbs. He is nowhere near obese. He is off the charts for height and weight since he was a baby. He is a powerhouse football player. When I asked his pediatrician he said those percentages can be misleading and not to worry. My 8 year old is bigger than my first. My neighbor on the other hand has thin, small framed yet healthy boys who because of the stature are considered underweight. If I showed you pictures of either you'd think the report was nuts!
