Sketch guy may have been more disguised most of the night and only identifiable by the parking area. If he meant for it to be that way, then he may have had the place scoped out not to appear out of costume on camera. If sketch guy was a fluke, just chance that he ran into Chelsea Bruck, then his appearance on footage or pictures to identify him should have been just a big a fluke. To remain unseen most of the night is not an indication of much at a costume party. To be seen may mean something though, as he appears in the sketch. When he walked to the parking area with Chelsea Bruck, my theory or speculation is, he needed to be seen as somewhat familiar, maybe from previous parties, in order to have her trust him to go with her. There is a good chance she may have felt safe enough for a ride home. There is a good chance she may have not been safe with him. These types wouldn't have friends in the crowd where they hunt, he may have been apart, alone, watching, and hovering. Maybe he recorded previous parties with really really thick glasses with a google glass type thing to scope things out, he may have seemed very obvious, dancing shirtless even, among a smaller crowd in June. Or he could be some young man who freaked out and is hiding it. It's all OT, but so is Chelsea Bruck. Who knows?

I am still amazed that more photos or videos have not surfaced. That could be more of a help than only the sketch to go on. And I am even surprised that not one leaf was found off Chelsea's costume top.

The sketch-man might or might not have been in a "disguise". It is impossible to know with so little facts. It is also quite possible that people have contacted LE to report someone that looks like the sketch-man, and we will never be told of what came of that report. (Unless it turns out to be a likely match). For us on the outside, the investigation seems to be at a standstill, but that really is not likely the whole story. There is a lot we will not be privileged to know from the LE standpoint. Only when they are sure will we get even an inkling of what is going on.

Scent dogs seem seem like the best idea I have heard. I don't know if professional dogs trained for this type of search have been used or considered.

I just want some kind of sign to point us in a positive direction. :sigh:

Renember Amber Dubois who went missing walking to her high school? Kids walking to school, school buses, hundreds of people along that road and rhe scent dogs tracked her scent months later, 20 miles away if I remember right.

Just found The article, it was amazing.

Sarah Platts, commander of VK9, said the dogs were taken to Amber’s home and picked up the girl’s scent and tracked it first to Escondido High School, then to Interstate 15.

From there, Platts said, the dogs were driven up the freeway to each exit ramp, then brought out of the vehicles to sniff.

That continued for about 12 miles until they exited at state Route 76.

Thank you, trigger, great article. Do you know off hand how much it costs beyond expenses? How come the LE can't contract them to come out there, in this case? Why haven't they already? I remember this

Good question. I really don't know how much. I think the family would have to get approval from LE. I'm looking at Sarah Platts website.

Thanks everyone. I needed something to make me feel better about how we might find Chelsea.

If the party hadn't been held a week prior to Halloween, we wouldn't even be talking about someone being in costume - or not. I don't think the way that the POI is dressed suggests a "store-bought" costume, anyway. If someone is trying to replicate Harry Potter, they don't need to purchase a costume. The hair, the spectacles, a hooded bathrobe - Voila! - the guy resembles the popular storybook character. If someone hadn't suggested that the guy that Chelsea was seen with looked like Harry Potter, I wouldn't have even considered the possibility. I call the scruffy appearance "urban grunge", and it's currently very popular among young men.

I agree and to be honest I still don't think it really reflects a "Harry Potter" look. I wonder what % of the crowd were not in costume? This was a party more about the bands that were there it seems.

I'm trying to keep up, but has this man come forward? If not, that is troubling.

  • #589
By asking if "this man" has come forward, early on there were postings that it looked like "____" and that person did come forward and was ruled out.

I was able to stop by the "headquarters" to make a donation and to pick up posters and a bracelet. What an amazing soft-spoken family, and they are so grateful for all the support. They were able to tell me that professional dog searches have been made, but could tell me no more about that.

Posters will go up in other nearby cities this weekend.

That was very kind of you Spellbound. I am pleased professional dog searches have been made. I am surprised and sorry there has been no developments yet Chelsea and her family are in my prayers.

:tyou: for your thoughtfulness and interest in this case that is local for you. I'm pleased to learn that posters will be placed in communities beyond the immediate search area.

Unless something urgent comes up this weekend, DH and I plan to go to Trapperz Tavern for the fundraiser on Sunday. If we go, it will be on behalf of everyone here who is following the case. Let's continue to keep Chelsea and her family in our thoughts and prayers.

"It's getting a little bit harder to kind of hold it together," said Kassandra Bruck, Chelsea's sister, but she says the family continues to be hopeful. /She said there's no "solid information" on where her sister could be, but they've heard nothing to indicate she's not OK. She didn't appear to be under duress or having problems with anyone that night. But she had been drinking and walked into a post, gashing the bridge of her nose and forehead, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office reported.

Y'all have finally brought out my tears I have not allowed myself, after reading the last few posts. This is all so overwhelming and my heart just aches so for this family. A thank you all for your kindness, caring, and support. I can never say that enough. Every one of you is so special. Thanks just doesn't cover it.

BTW.... I did mention our WS thread and they were pleased. The further this goes out, the better chance we have.

Why does this feel so personal this time? I just cannot go even an hour of the day without thinking of what else I may be able to do.

 for all of you!

One can not assume LE has done something so I have a suggestion related to the LE search. The state police have aircraft I am not sure the local police have them. An air search needs to be done in th general area. Dogs do loose scent at roadways but are able to pick up the scent again in the land areas on the other side of the roadway. Frequently LE stops at the roadway thinking the person got a ride(very bad thinking). A girl went missing in the Santa Monica mountains, LE stopped at the roadway, and went to Los Vegas on a tip to search(hahaha) she was found 1 year later by utility workers inspecting their lines by aircraft. a few hundred feet from where they stopped looking.

Goldenbear, I know that they had several helicopter searches in the early days. Is this what you mean by air searches?

if Chelsea's case is currently handled by the County Sheriffs, what does it take to get State Police involved? Or even FBI? Just thinking "aloud", I guess.

I am glad to hear some(probably very little) aircraft searching was done. A sheriff dept. probably has one aircraft and lots of tasks for it. I think the family would have to go to the state police and FBI and request help. A member of congress requesting help on their behalf carries a lot of weight.I was thinking state congressman. This help worked really well in a New Orleans case not long ago.

Thank you, GB. I believe there are two or three helicopters in the area that are used. Also, some people have their own small planes and have tried to keep an eye out.

Thanks for for the other answer, too.

I jusr discovered a website for namus.gov, through the Dept of Justice. They can request to have her put on the national database of missing. I think that sounds like a very good idea, if it has not been done. I will pass that along.
