Unless the police make an announcement, the POI is still considered to be unknown. I've passed on a number of potential matches to the police myself over the past month that people had posted to the facebook page and/or messaged me about privately on facebook, the police then follow up on it but as far as I know they have yet to make a definitive call on any of them that he's the poi (not a suspect, just a person of interest). As to why the latest name was removed on the facebook page, we have asked time and again that people not post names publicly on the facebook and contact crimestoppers/police directly as the police have said that whoever is involved is more than likely following the facebook page very closely. I didn't catch whatever post happened Saturday, one of the other admin did but it got screencapped/deleted/forwarded.

The police still have Chelsea's laptop so I have asked to see if she has a meet.me profile, I really don't think she does but it's worth checking into.

Someone asked about the alternate sketch, I had posted it then the police said that's not such a good idea and that I should remove it but also stated that our facebook page isn't like official LE so they couldn't really stop me from posting it but they advised me against it at the time. I love Aunt Pam besides the wedding shower over this past summer though, I think it has been years since I saw her.

No ideas what/if anything came out of the press conference today.

DH called a few minutes ago and told me that WWJ is featuring excerpts from the press conference. Guess I'll have to listen to the radio for a while.

Family believes Chelsea being held against her will.

At a press conference this morning Matt Bruck sent a message to his daughter’s captors asking them to leave her at a safe location. He also pleaded with his daughter to get away from whoever is holding her against her will.

“If you’re out there and you can hear me, now is the time to break free from your captors,” Mr. Bruck said, his voice quivering with emotion at times.

The commenter was also the self proclaimed purchaser and was formerly listed above, but taken down since.
Wow! Arealist good eye! What a coincidence if I do say so! (Ordered Aug. 31st.) Did you also notice the pic of the person commenting on his purchase? The hair and glasses stood out to me!!!

Yes I saw the year, about 1.25 years ago, not so long for something of personal value and a prized hoodie would proudly be worn to a concert.
It was August 2013, so not just recently. Just didn't know if you saw the year.

What an amazing family. My heart broke watching Dad speak. And Mom --- her faith and strength keep me focused. Ten weeks, 10 years? However long it takes, I will walk beside this family.

So... With the risk of sounding completely out there, I'd like to bring something up and ask what people think. I work at a large men's correctional facility. It's a place where crimes are discussed and even bragged about all to regularly. In the 10 plus years I've been there I have heard things I wish I could un-hear...to completely forget. Anyway, my question is this: keeping in mind, inmates aren't allowed Internet access and can only make collect calls to approved numbers which are recorded. No one wants to be known as a "rat" so often hesitate to tell what they know or have heard on the inside. Is there a place that tips could be written and mailed to anonymously? Would they be considered valid? Would posting a flyer with such information in my office seem like something I should/shouldn't do?
Welcome all ideas, thoughts or questions on this topic!

I would ask a superior if it was OK to post the flier, but it seems it would be OK in your office.

Yes indeed, anonymous tips can be made! I called in one, and was not even asked my name or relationship. I also sent via email, and you could use an email address that does not have your name.

Anonymous tips can be called into Crime Stoppers at 800-SPEAKUP.
(I know you asked about mailing tips, but thought it might be good for all the ways to be in one post)

As for mailing tips, I would send to Monroe County Sheriffs Dept. ( Tip-Line) 100 E 2nd St #2, Monroe, MI 48161

My supervisor said it was fine as long as it was in my office. A mailing address was what I was looking for which is perfect. Thank you. Also, I was wondering about tips or info that has been heard 2nd & 3rd hand valid or not because it's considered hearsay? I'm wondering if it's worth getting the offender to follow through with alerting authorities, if they'll even look into it. I tend to lean towards yes.... report, report, report and let LE decide what's valid or not.

  • #915
Definitely send in anything! Let them (LE) decide how valid it might be. Overheard words can sometimes be the push we need.

Not asking for details, but is there a possibility someone in your facility may have info they can give to LE? Oh, I hope so! I wish something would come through to bring Chelsea home before the holidays and her sister's wedding.

  • #916
From talk around the facility it seems that yes there might be a couple offenders with info. I'll be in tomorrow and see what I can do to get info passed along.

  • #917
thanks, CJ-mom! I hope they will pass on whatever they may know or believe.

By the way, Crimestoppers reward is now over $17,000.

I was thinking, "how do we make anonymous written tip to Crimestoppers?" and I think it would be OK to send mail to the family at their search headquarters. They will make sure it gets sent to LE. I would try:

Crimestoppers - Chelsea Bruck
8799 Swan Creek Rd.
Newport, Mi 48166

Good idea Spellbound! I was wondering the very same thing.

I am not sure but typically when a building is under corporate ownership and no longer operational like the MB&T location being used as the Bruck Command Center, any mail addressed to this location is automatically redirected to the corporate headquarters. I would only use this address if you are using an overnight carrier such as Fed Ex or UPS. Again, this is just my opinion based on first-hand knowledge of how this industry operates. I would hate for mail that may contain vital information to be redirected and not delivered to the intended party(s).

  • #920
Honestly if you have something written down, if nothing else just slide it under the door of the command center when it's closed. The girls will make sure it gets checked into.
