GUILTY MI - Chelsea Bruck, 22, Frenchtown Twp, 26 Oct 2014 #1

I don't criticize law enforcement for the way in which they conduct investigations. LE agencies have no obligation to the public or even to victims' families to divulge information gleaned during an ongoing investigation.

Folks here on WS often had harsh criticism for the seeming lack of information presented to the public in the murder of April Dawn Millsap of Armada, Michigan (http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...found-murdered-in-woods-Armada-24-July-2014-2). The suspect was already behind bars on marijuana charges with no one coming forward to bond him out of jail, so LE took their time and put together what I believe is a very strong case against the perpetrator. He's been sentenced to a year in jail on the drug charges, so the prosecutor doesn't have to rush to bring the case to trial because JVC (perp) isn't going anywhere soon.

I'm going to remain confident that Monroe County Sheriff's Department is conducting a thorough investigation and that there will eventually be charges brought against someone for Chelsea's disappearance. :moo:

Mrs. L Bruck, during the family and Crime Stoppers PC specifically called LE "my detectives" in appreciation of their efforts. If LE effort is good enough for the family, who have the deepest interest in bringing their Chelsea home, then I think it's safe to assume they're doing their best.

I haven't had much to add to the coversation but I gotta stick up for my local LE here. IMO, Sheriff Malone is not "disregarding" witnesses who had been drinking or smoking weed. One of the reasons the sheriff has earned the respect (and votes!) of so many here is that he's a straight-shooter. He just calls it like he sees it.

That statement was, in my mind, meant to inform us all as to where they were at in their investigation, and explain why. They haven't given up -- but with only so much to go on, there's only so much they can do.

To think that the high people at the party were merely drinking or smoking weed is naivety, I think. These kids today have access to drugs that didn't even exist when we were kids -- K2, spice, bath salts, etc.

I believe the sheriff when he says they're doing the best that they can. I don't think it's doing anyone any favors to pressure LE to come up with something to satisfy the public. That's how cases get botched or end up wrongly prosecuted.

JMO, but I'm pretty sure I speak for a lot of people in Monroe County when I say our Sheriff is doing a fine job, and that we appreciate his efforts to bring Chelsea home and give us the answers we seek. Monroe County has not given up on Chelsea.

i neglected to include the glasses in my post they were present on the POI in his facebook pictures as well. So we have glasses,hair on top of head, hair on side of head,hair on lip, shape of face,strong interest in the musical groups. After seeing these facebook pictures I do not think he was wearing anything extra. this is his natural look.

I didn't take your post or your observations personally. I understand the frustration.

I'm not sure which part of my previous post you disagree with (maybe the whole thing?) but making broad assumptions is something I'm very good at! I did add the IMO & JMO disclaimers. I should maybe start adding a "Warning: this poster specializes in broad assumptions!" one, too!

I don't know Chelsea or her family, but in talking about the case with other locals I've found that most agree that it's a baffling case and none have criticized LE or blamed them for lack of progress. I'm not following on social media, however. The attitudes there, or in social circles other than my own may well be different.

In any case, you're certainly free to disagree with me. I promise not to take it personally! :seeya:

I agree --- I do not think he was wearing anything in the way of disguise. However, I have seen and sent other pics that look even more like the sketch, so I would not be honed in on just this one person as a possible match.

Maybe I am being more observant due to the circumstances, but nearly every time I go out I see thin young men with this scruffy shaved appearance, black framed glasses, messy hair, and dark hoodies. And I see PURPLE everywhere. Not deliberately placed purple, I don't think, but I am quick to pick it out and think of Chelsea.

I was just curious about the guy selling merchandise. Since he seems to be the ONLY one who "saw" the sketch guy with Chelsea, and NO ONE has been able to identify him, nor has anyone come forward claiming to be the guy in the sketch.... Is it possible that the merchant could have something to hide or be dishonest about? Has LE looked into him at all?

You raise an good point - I've seen cases in which instead of a guilty person simply remaining quite, or saying they didn't see the victim - the guilty person will instead try to get LE to chase a straw dog.

There is just so much I could say after watching this video, but it wouldnt help bring this girl home. The video speaks volumes, and every parent should watch it.

I'm sure LE is doing all they can, the family in general seems to have a lot of faith in them it is however a very frustrating case/situation. Honestly my own level of interaction with LE is pretty low, I email them any and all tips I pick up but I rarely hear anything back from them directly but I do hear back enough to know that they are checking into things. We don't see everything that is going on behind the scenes.

I think if I had seen these videos when my kids were still at home, they would still be locked in their bedrooms with no escape. And to think I once thought K.I.S.S. was insanely crazy.

I know no one can truly answer these questions *but it never hurts to ask...

I remember hearing at one of the press conferences Chelsea tried to call her own cell phone (I thought I heard around 2:15am). I am guessing she used a friends phone to make this call and that is how this info was verified. I am wondering if she was calling to check her voicemail (was she maybe expecting a call from someone) or does it seem she may have been trying to see if the friend w/ her phone would answer? *At LE's press conference, they mentioned she borrowed *several *phones throughout the night...she even dialed the wrong # at some point(which ended up being a teacher w/ no relation). Was it ever determined who she may have been trying to call (maybe this info was obtained...if there was a contact in Chelsea's cell w/ a similar phone #)? Also, the acquaintance from high school who Chelsea spoke to for 10-15 minutes around 3:00...noted that their conversation was normal (i guess what i mean by normal is that Chelsea *did not appear upset, confused or highly intoxicated (correct)? Additionally, this girl offered Chelsea a ride home but Chelsea declined (However, Chelsea did use the girls phone to call a friend for a ride home but no one answered). *It just seems at such a late hour...after Chelsea had already tried to call for a ride...she would have accepted the girls offer. How was she planning on getting home? Almost minutes later, Chelsea was seen speaking to our POI and heading to the parking area w/ POI. It makes me feel that this person had to be someone that had gained her trust at some point. Maybe, he had offered her a ride home earlier in the evening so she knew she could count on him or could POI have arrived at Post/Williams Rd for the sole intention of giving Chelsea a ride home (maybe POI wasn't at the party and a reason no one recognizes him)?*
