maybe due to a lack of a ride or cell phone and not knowing any phone numbers by memory, she began walking and got disoriented due to being intoxicated which as we all know affects everyone differently possibly hit by a vehicle or fell in a field or a ditch ,passed out and the cold caused her death although I don't believe it was cold enough but I will consider the possibility.

I keep thinking of slight similarities with Morgan Dana Harrington's case she sadly was locked out of a concert at night with no ride or cell phone. Morgan was kidnapped and murdered at random by the suspect and left in a farmer's field. Morgan wasn't found for many months after winter. The suspect is awaiting trial and also believed to have murdered student Hannah Graham. I just wondered if a random guy in the area could possibly be the perp and not someone Chelsea had met before.

Thanks everyone for all your posts and any updates.

It was actually warmer than I realized the night of the party, but did start turning colder the night of the 26th. This is an archived page of the weather conditions in Newporrt on the 26th, beginning around midnight

Yep. That and coupled with the relative humidity and wind, it would have been pretty cold outside for someone not wearing a coat. So I doubt she would have deliberately walked anywhere, but that's just my guess.

I've been following this case off and on and have been waiting for some type of break - evidence, identity of the person Chelsea was last seen with, or anything.

On the hypothermia, there is no temperature threshold for falling victim to it. I was in the beginning stages of it and didn't realize it till a corpsman was called and I had hunted for years in cold and rain prior to that point without that problem. The only other case I was involved with was an individual who routinely had experience in the conditions we were in prior to their falling victim to it and the temps were in the high 50's or low 60's and it was daytime. They were one of the last I would have thought to fall victim to it. Too many factors involved besides the temperature can affect it. Amount of blood alcohol level, amount of drugs (including marijuana), illness (we don't know if she was coming down with a bad cold, flu or stomach virus, but the symptoms weren't there yet) that lowers the body's defenses, the wind, whether the victim is dry or gets wet (either rain or sweat from exertion). Plus once it hits the victim does strange things like removing warm clothing and that makes matters worse. The Jamisha Gilbert case in VA is one where the person died from exposure and she had shed clothing while walking.

But I believe - like the Jamisha Gilbert case - she would have found fairly quickly if hypothermia was the cause.

JnRyan, thank you for adding your experiences and thoughts.

I agree - if she had just wandered off and collapsed somewhere, I believe she would have been found by now. Unfortunately, this looks like foul play to me.

  • #326
I agree too, she would have been found. The family has said that a 10 mile radius as been searched by ground, I would have to believe that she would have walked towards the closest home she knew which would have been within the search area.

I really think she took a ride from from an acquaintance, someone she kind of knew, but not that well and from there the scenarios could be anything from accidental and panic or deliberate and calculated.

I cannot tell you how often I think of her and her family and how I wish there was just SOMETHING new in this case.

Based on the very little that we've learned from LE coupled with what her family has indicated about her character, habits, etc., I tend to think that Chelsea accepted a ride with someone she knew, perhaps only casually, from previous band events. Chelsea trusted the individual to drive her home or to the friend's with whom she'd ridden to the party. When Chelsea realized that the guy wasn't driving towards either location and his real intentions became clear, an altercation ensued. Chelsea was seriously injured or accidentally killed, and tossed somewhere, or she could have managed to jump out of the car and was injured/died in the process.

Again, based on limited information forthcoming in the investigation, this is my current working theory about what happened to Chelsea Bruck. :moo:

What you theorize would be good in that there should be some kind of trail to that person (phone, media, mention to friend, etc.) of this kind person she knows....
but could she have forced or tricked into going in car with someone in such a way that avoided others knowing she was....
Thinking of the way Hannah Graham was somehow taken off the street without anyone seeing/hearing anything....

- I feel like there's a good chance the POI was at the June concert as well. Probably someone has already thought about this, but it seems like criteria they could use to search for him.

- Are there cameras on any roads near the power plant? Perhaps near any highway exits there may be, for security reasons. I know of at least one power plant I've driven by that had tons of lights and I'm guessing cameras around the highway exits leading to it. Anyway, if there are it may be worth it to review the footage.

- Have any torched or ditched cars been recovered nearby (or perhaps even in neighboring states) since the concert? If something happened in the POI's car - particularly if the trunk was involved - the car may have been ditched or burnt. I believe this is what happened in the case of that woman in Hawaii that was covered by that Disappeared special.

Unless LE is withholding tracking information on the individual with whom Chelsea left the party, the guy seems to have fallen off the grid.

In answer to bragi, there have been no reports of burnt or abandoned cars nearby. I, too, believe she went with someone who was probably at the summer party, too. I personally do not believe in the short time she was there (from about 11pm or later until about 3 am) that she was particularly drunk or high. She was not known by people in our area to have been much of a drinker, nor was she known to be a drug user. I tend to believe that. My "theory" is that she went with someone she naively thought she could trust to take her home, something went wrong, and then..............??? I don't think she wandered off on her own.

Has the old Nike base been searched (I think persmission would be required)?

Interesting thought, MsMarple. That would be within the 10-mile radius of what has been searched, but I wonder if this was included. It would be an ideal location for nefarious activity.

I don't think that Chelsea was intoxicated or under the influence of drugs. Based on LE reports from people who interacted with Chelsea during the party, she had not overindulged in alcohol or used drugs. Family members have indicated that Chelsea did not drink to excess or use drugs. I trust them, and have no reason to believe otherwise. :moo:

Jumping off your post. While the claim is that they searched a 10 mile radius, that is not a comprehensive 10 mile radius. I seriously doubt that 10 mile radius was searched fingertip to fingertip in a grid pattern. If they haven't searched that Nike site in a grid pattern, someone should.

But as we all know, if she got in a car, she could be anywhere.

Texas Equusearch came in not long after the disappeArance to assist in advanced search techniques.
