I recall reading that Chelsea brought the mug with her, it was a "bring your own beverage" and the thought was that it may have been a warm drink (spiked cider or coffee perhaps). I know the jug she had was found but no mention of the travel mug or camera/wristlet that I am aware of.

I have been researching Missing Person cases and one article states that the very first thing that should be done is to get the missing person in the NCIC database. This connects cases across states, nationally.

Something else I found staggering is that 70% of violent crimes against women is by SOMEONE THEY KNOW! 70%!!!

I have also tried to figure out the odds of a person who's gone missing, to have personally known someone that was murdered, and who went to the same high school, who came from same city. It just seems these 2 young women lived relatively non-risky lives to have such a random act of violence occur.

Not to mention that at least one photo exists that includes BOTH of the young women!

JMO...if it was my child missing the last thing I would want to promote is another event that by all intent and purposes contributed to the disappearance of my child.

Chances are the POI would not attend, and those that would attend would probably be there for the party. Worse yet, risk something else happening to another person. JMO...

The family might have also felt that another concert would be more about the band's performance and not so much about Chelsea missing. :moo:

^ It's the group photo that we discussed a while ago about the guy who had facial injuries. Can someone enlarge the mug so we can see the logo?

I tried, but it is too grainy, at least for me.

^ Looks like there is a graphic on part of the mug, but Chelsea's hand is covering it.

Thank you, Spellbound. Klynn3 may know if the black line right by her thumb knuckle may match the logo of the station or store 2 miles away that a lot of the partiers may have been streaming in and out of throughout the concert. I was told that the emo interview video, while they're standing in a parking lot, is from a place a couple of miles away too, and not at BM's.

I wonder why she would bring a mug when she had a jug? (Would be too uncouth to drink out of the jug?)

The jug was a prop. It was filled with food-colored water to look like wine. Not drinkable ;)

The person of interest in the Kaitlin Walters case looks eerily like the sketch of the suspect in Chelsea's case. Difference is, in Kaitlin's case they have this guy's name. Maybe it is totally not related but I had to share this.
Here is a link to her case:

Learned a couple of new things from post above ^^

Whereas I had thought she had contacted a friend for a ride home, in fact she had not.

She's been following this band to other events.

She had gotten a mug and perhaps a drink from someone.

So -
I wonder if a false sense of trust resulted from her seeing the POI at previous events; thinking he's a kindred spirit who's safe - even if she hadn't spoken to him before...

The reverse could have happened, POI following the band notices she following the band and targets her...

She may have gone to the parking lot hoping to see someone she knew who could give her a ride; the mug giver offers her a ride...

Could the giving of a mug be the POI's way of breaking the ice with women? Wonder if he's done that before, at other events... give a gal a mug/drink; then hope to meet again in a parking lot...

Wow, this is a difficult case. A true case of "3-no's" and really seems to show advance planning.... without planning, a spur-of-the moment attack after a long night with dawn approaching by the time evil deeds are done - lots of chance for mistakes...

I agree with your thought process. I don't recall reading anywhere that she brought a mug. I have a 20 yr old brother and I know at his age...most don't plan that far ahead (he would forget his head if it wasn't attached. He is a very intelligent kid, 4.0 GPA but lives for the moment and not good w/ pre-planning ). I know she made her costume but that is different since woman seem to be more into their appearance. Honestly, when I was Chelsea's age...I would not have brought any alcohol. In my opinion, it is much easier for a woman to get alcohol at an event like this. I am not saying this is smart but when your younger, you aren't always thinking about the consequences of your actions. I feel someone could have used this as a way to get to know Chelsea and as a way to take advantage of her in some way. Additionally, maybe someone put something in her drink. From what I understand there was a large range of drugs being used at this event.

Anyways, I am sending my husband on a mission this evening. He is going to Pilot to look at all the travel mugs. He feels it looks very similar to ones he has seen there before (but who knows..I don't know that he has really ever looked at Pilot travel mugs before). He owns a company (w/ lots of equipment) and this is the only gas station he will use. I will let you know what he finds out. I asked him to take a picture of anything similar.

There Is software that breaks down layers in photos. I'll try to find it.
However, to me, this doesn't appear to be printed. It appears to have a marbelized texture to it.

I'm having a problem with my browsers (tried both safari and chrome). If someone wants to attempt running the photo of the travel mug through Fotoforensics, it may help detect any lettering or image imprinted.

I thought graphic on the mug resembled the logo on the Pilot Travel Center website that Klynn3 mentioned. I'm not able to post graphics.

Local eyes helps sooo much, thank you to all you Michaganders and Ohians (sp?). I feel a lot less lost following the case.

I tried, but I don't understand what I am looking at. It turns into just a dark pic that gives me nothing clear to see.

(interesting program, that Foroforensics page. I will have to play around with it sometime. FindHG....you may like it, /Foroforensics.com Just put in the link to the pic or choose it from your browser/photos.) It said it doesn't work with Safari. Chrome and Firefox should be good. Probably other browsers, but I don't know enough about it yet.

Below I attached a picture of a mug. I know it's not the same mug but I was a barista at a coffee shop for years and to me this doesn't look like the mug has a logo but a texture. Many mugs have grooves or a black rubber grip at around that location on the cup. Logos are usually placed higher on mugs so when you're holding it the logo is still visible. Just my opinion.
