Def asking Det about scene of body. The video cut out here so I missed some of this. Det says some trees had recently been cut down at the time body was found. Def asking specifics about branches. Det describing the location/angle of branches and location of body. Def asking how long before crime lab came, who else was on scene. 2 hours. Def asking if anything was done in those two hours. Det says photographs, the log perhaps moved off the body. Def asking about abandoned buildings site where costume was found and if Det personally inspected the site. Asking what signs indicated site was used by trespassers. Det stating there was graffiti, trash, locals saying it was a hang out. Def asking how close to the body this site is - approx 5.5 miles. Were the items recovered sent to crime lab? Yes, costume and wig, which were found together. Were thee a number of persons of interest? Yes. A number of DNA submissions, est 30-40 samples sent to crime lab (wow!) Were these people considered suspects? Det. says these are voluntary samples collected during line of questioning, or had been previously on file. Was the DNA located on the costume? Yes, that is what lab notified them of. Det says lab would have to testify to exact location.

So far it looks like the Defense is going to try to go for the standard mishandling of evidence and accidental death angle. Unfortunately LE seems to have done such an incredibly good job on this case I don't think that will work with a jury. Chelsea may have like rough sex, but that doesn't mean Daniel didn't purposefully choke her, and then keep doing it long enough to kill her, then knowingly conceal his crime by dumping her body. He was not having momentary insanity, it wasn't a crime of passion. You have to choke someone really hard and for a long time to kill them and if it was really only 20 seconds, how does he know he didn't leave her out there to die of hypothermia?!

Regarding Penny's testimony, sorry but I don't recall her saying this and I was typing while she talked. It is a misleading statement mixing what Penny said about when she arrived (not even talking about Chelsea yet), and a general "fact" of the case.
"She also said there was a large parking area with attendants, where Bruck was last seen with an unknown man."

Summarizing witness list now that we have correct spellings:

Michael Williams (Big Mike) - threw the party
Laura Taylor - worked with Chelsea at Olgas, friend, says she drove Chelsea to the party and Chelsea's phone was left in her car
Penny Renee Watkins - friend of Becky's, acquaintance of Chelsea before that night, hung out with Chelsea at party and was first to have her phone. Got a call from Chelsea for a ride home after she left, but couldn't come get Chelsea.
Rebecca "Becky"Brinson - worked with Chelsea at Olgas, close friend, met up with Chelsea and others that night. Second person to have C's phone. Was at party with her boyfriend Corey.
Jessica Evay Pribyl -worked with Chelsea at Olgas, friend, and has a 6-year-old child in common with Clay. Was at party with her new boyfriend, met up with Chelsea and others and witnessed Clay have brief contact with them.
Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy Thomas Fauver - took MP report and initial investigation
Lead Det. Sroka - was on scene when costume and body found.

Side note ( I drove by the house site about a year ago and it had a for sale sign and didn't look to have been built on any more.) I wonder if they prohibited the continuing of the building or the owner chose to stop.

I know! and such a tiny courtroom with nothing between them and Daniel - it must be so hard for them not to lunge forward to grab him and dole out some personal justice.

I think this trial will be very difficult for the Brucks. It's hard for me to listen to the testimony, and I imagine it's must worse for parents and siblings.

Don't see her sisters there. Wonder if they will appear at any other court dates. There are so many things I want to go back at look at that we talked about compared to what they're saying.
Also hope the guy that found the costume in the building talks. That area is not open to public so to speak and would intentionally be trespassing. I know they said it's used for teens/drug use/etc. When I drove by, it was really creepy.
Curious to hear his story of how and why he was in there. Just heard someone ask Clay if he had lunch and he said they stuck him downstairs. Poor guy.

I keep thinking the same thing. When the recess started he was laughing and smoking and joking with his lawyer about writing letters to his parents I think I heard him say. Ugh.
