I remember olden times, growing up before leash laws. Even a nimble child might be devoured.

My dog was on leash when attacked. The ones who attacked her had gotten out of their yard. They didn't belong to the house where the attack took place, they had traveled several blocks and hidden in the juniper bushes! If they could have picked on a large, tall 85lb Lab, they could have easily devoured a small child or small dog! They did maul the arm of their pool woman just days later.

Sebastiano Quagliata, 46, and Valbona Lucaj, 45, had been charged with second-degree murder but pleaded no contest to owning a dangerous dog causing death...

The judge sentenced them to between four years and nine months and 15 years in prison.

I hope they deport them both after they get out of prison.
