GWINN, Mich. (WLUC) - The family of a man who went missing Monday night from his camp in Gwinn is asking for help in the search.
48-year-old Daniel McLaughlin was last seen wearing a dark blue sweatshirt and blue jeans. He is described as approximately 5'8" and 210 pounds.
McLaughlin went missing from his camp in Gwinn on County Road EEH around 4:15 p.m. Monday. The camp is on the Escanaba River just south of the Up North Lodge.
The Forsyth Township Police Department have begun a ground search with K9 units.
McLaughlin is a Type 1 diabetic and his family says that he has been away from his insulin pump for too long.
The family is encouraging all those who can to help in the search for Daniel.
"We just need to get him back before its too late. He may have have thought that we wanted to wander off and now he's lost and he's in a serious medical situation. We need to get to get him back safe and sound so we can help him. And we need help doing that to get him back," said Linell McLaughlin, Daniel's wife.
If anyone has information on his whereabouts, call Marquette County Central Dispatch by dialing 9-1-1. The family is asking for anyone who can help to go to the Up North Lodge where a search party is meeting.
Forsyth Township is being assisted by Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Marquette County Search and Rescue, Valley Med Flight, Michigan State Police K9 and Aviation, Michigan Department of Natural Resources Aviation, Tri-Media, along with family, friends and neighbors of Daniel.
