Police in Detroit have linked the deaths of three women found in abandoned houses and attacks on two other women to the same suspect. Deangelo Kenneth Martin was arrested Friday at a bus stop on the city's east side.

Martin was detained near where the crimes occurred; authorities called him a person of interest in the three deaths.

On Monday, Detroit police chief James Craig called Martin a suspect in the serial killings, and said the 34-year-old is also believed to have assaulted the two other women, both of whom fought him off.
"In both cases, these women fought and they live today," Craig said during a press conference.
One of the surviving victims was attacked in the same abandoned house where another victim was found dead, Craig said.

Craig said all five victims were linked to sex work, drug use, or both. Most of the victims were in their early 50s — another common factor among the crimes — though one of the surviving victims is 26, Craig said. Martin referred to a "signature" pattern linking the crime scenes, but declined to elaborate on evidence.

"We looked at patterns and similarities, and it was through that signature that we believed there was some connection," Craig said.

The Wayne County prosecutor's office charged Martin with raping and stabbing one of the surviving victims in a May 7 attack. He was arraigned Monday on one count of assault with intent to murder and four counts of criminal sexual conduct. Martin was remanded to Wayne County Jail and doesn't currently have an attorney, according to the Wayne County prosecutor's office.

On Dec. 22, 2018, police found human remains wrapped in a sheet under a couch inside the abandoned home. The remains haven't been identified. ...

Thinking there are going to be more bodies turning up in connection with the alleged sk, imo. speculation.

Suspected Detroit Serial Killer Bound Over For Trial In Woman's Rape, Attempted Murder [VIDEO]

Deangelo Martin, 34, appeared in court and was ordered to stand trial on four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and a single count of assault with intent to murder in connection with an attack on a 26-year-old woman on May 7.

The victim said Martin introduced himself as Ameer Abdullah when she first met him at a drug house where she had been staying for about a week. She decided to follow him back to his house and said she was sleeping on a mattress in the basement when she felt a sharp pain in her neck and woke up to Martin stabbing her. She pulled the knife out of her neck and at that point, she says she was raped.

The woman managed to use the knife to stab Martin in the eye, then escaped and called 911 for help.

Martin hasn't been charged with the killings but is considered a person of interest. Police see similarities between the three slayings and assaults of at least two women. Bodies were found in vacant houses and investigators are looking at more cases.

The first victim, identified as 52-year old Nancy Harrison, was found March 19 in an abandoned house on Coventry near I-75. A second woman, identified as 53-year old Travesene Ellis, was found May 24 in a home on Linnhurst near Schoenherr Road. The third victim, 55-year-old Tamara Jones, was found June 5 in a house on Mack near Mt. Elliot.

The 26-year-old in the May 7 case, as well as an additional victim, survived attacks.

Police are also investigating whether a missing Ferndale woman could be one of the serial killer's victims. Martin was the last person seen with Deborah Reynolds, 64, before she was reported missing.

Martin is due back in court for a preliminary exam on July 23.

In the two cases in which Martin is currently charged, he's been remanded (denied bond)."

The suspect in two criminal sexual conduct cases and a Detroit serial killer case has been charged with eight counts of murder in connection with the deaths of four women who were found facedown in vacant Detroit houses, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced.

Deangelo Martin, 34, of Detroit, was charged Wednesday with four counts of premeditated murder and four counts of felony murder in connection with the deaths of Annetta Nelson, Nancy Harrison, Trevesene Ellis and Tamara Jones.

"In cases like this, when it's literally striking fear into people who live in these areas, we want to make sure we work as quickly as we can, but we also have to be as detailed as we can," Worthy said. "We have to be able to go into court and present a case that's going to stick, go into court and present a case with all of the evidence."
Detroit man charged with 8 counts of murder after 4 women found dead in vacant houses

The women's bodies were found in abandoned houses across the city—they were all discovered face down with used condoms beside them. The women have been identified as Annetta Nelson, 57, Nancy Harrison, 52, Trevesene Ellis, 55, and Tamara Jones, 55. Nelson and Harrison are believed to have died of blunt force trauma but the cause of death for the other two is undetermined because their bodies were too badly decomposed. Police are investigating two additional possible homicide cases that could be connected. “I think it's pretty clear that we believe he is a serial killer,” said Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy. Police have said they believe all the women victims were sex workers.

CRIME HUNTER: Detroit serial killer targeted middle-aged prostitutes

Detroit cops say Deangelo Martin, 34, is a serial killer who preyed on middle-aged prostitutes.DETROIT POLICE

The dirty, broken streets of Detroit are a target-rich nirvana for serial killers.

Where prosperous middle-class neighbourhoods once stood, ruin, squalor and fear rule.

And those streets — pock-marked with the abandoned homes and shattered working-class dreams — are an ideal spot to ditch a body.

Ever since the 1967 race riots sent white flight into overdrive, inner-city Detroit has become ground zero for soured race relations, police brutality and failed policies.

And as if poor Detroit doesn’t have enough problems, Motown is now dealing with an suspected serial killer.

The ruins of Detroit offer plenty of places to stash bodies. POSTMEDIA
All the victims were “arranged in kneeling positions,” used condoms scattered nearby, the Detroit News reported.

Angela Colon believes her sister Yvonne is one of Martin’s alleged victims. She was found dead of blunt force trauma on June 10.

“I honestly think it’s connected to him,” Colon said. “I think he’s a monster and I think he did this.”

Friday afternoon, Chief Craig gave a description of the third victim. The woman is described as an African-American woman, around 55-years-old, 5-foot-one and 100 pounds. He believes the woman may have been dead three or four days before she was discovered by police. Officers are in the process of talking to the woman's family."
