Investigators allege Destiny Bingaman, 23, and George Bingaman, 32, abused and caused the death of their toddler, Emma Rose Bingaman. The couple was charged Thursday, Aug. 2, with felony murder, first-degree child abuse, torture and two counts of first-degree child abuse committed in the presence of another child.
The parents face up to life in prison and are being held in the Genesee County Jail without bail after being arraigned Thursday in Genesee District Court.
Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said the girl was underdeveloped and undernourished. The girl had "scores" of gouges, pinch marks, bite marks and bruises all over her body, he said...
The girl also appeared to have fingernail impressions all over her body - some of which had broken the skin and already scabbed over. She also had multiple bruises on her body and possible bite marks on her as well, according to the juvenile court file.
Investigators said Emma also appeared to have a broken left femur because her leg was purple, red and swollen.
The girl was taken to Hurley Medical Center at 10:19 a.m. on Monday, July 30, from injuries consistent with child abuse and neglect, according to court records.
A Hurley doctor told CPS that it was "one of the worst cases she has seen," court records show.
Emma was estimated by a Hurley doctor to weigh less than 10 pounds and that her parents did not have an explanation for how the child got the injuries, according to the filing by CPS.

Emma Rose Bingaman hadn't seen a doctor in almost two years despite being born with medical issues.
The girl, who was born at 27 weeks, had developmental delays and suffered from seizures, officials said.
She died just two months short of her third birthday after investigators say she was the victim of extensive physical abuse committed by her parents, Destiny and George Bingaman.
Now, investigators are trying to determine if there are other people who knew about what investigators and doctors have called one of the worst cases of abuse they have ever seen.
"What we're going to have to do is investigate. It's going to take a few days," said Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton. "There is potential criminal liability."
Leyton refused to go into further detail
