Friday, Sept. 3rd:
*Sentencing Hearing for both (@ 9am ET) – MI – Emma Rose Bingaman (2) (July 30, 2018, Mt. Morris Township; died from torture & abuse, weighed less than 10 lbs.) – *Destiny Danielle Bingaman (23/now 26) arrested (7/30/18), charged & arraigned (8/2/18) with 1st degree felony murder, 1st degree child abuse, torture & 2 counts of 1st degree child abuse committed in front of another child. Plead not guilty. Held without bail.
*George Bingaman (32/now 35) arrested (7/30/18), charged & arraigned (8/2/18) with 1st degree felony murder, 1st degree child abuse, torture & 2 counts of 1st degree child abuse committed in front of another child. Plead not guilty. Held without bail.
4 yr old girl & 1 yr old boy removed & placed in temporary foster care.
Jury trial was set to begin on 1/20/21-cancelled.

6/30/21 Update: Destiny (again) plead guilty. Motion by APA Poulos to amend Count 1 to 2nd degree murder. Motion heard & granted. Defendant will plead guilty to Count 1 as amended. In turn, People will dismiss Counts 2-5. Sentence agreement: The People do not object to the Cobbs' proposal for a 162 month (13½ years) minimum sentence. No sentence enhancement, no consecutive sentencing, no HYTA/7411. Restitution as determined by the court. Court sets sentencing date on 9/3/21 @ 9am. 7/14/21 Update: George: Pretrial hearing rescheduled to 7/21/21.
7/21/21 Update: George: APA Smith, Attorney Ewing & defendant (in jail) are present. Parties have reached a plea deal. Counsel requested plea hearing date be set. Parents sentenced to prison in death of 2-year-old Mt. Morris Township daughter

Sept. 3, 2021
MT MORRIS TOWNSHIP, MI -- Two Mt. Morris Township parents have been sentenced on a murder charge in the 2018 death of their 2-year-old daughter.

Destiny and George Bingaman have were sentenced Wednesday, Sept 1, by Genesee County Circuit Court Judge David Newblatt to 13.5-30 and 10-30 years in prison, respectively, on a count of second-degree murder related to the July 2018 death of 2-year-old Emma Rose Bingaman.

The sentencing comes after both defendants pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on June 24.

The plea agreement reduced an original count of first-degree murder to second-degree murder and dropped charges of first-degree child abuse, torture and two counts of first-degree child abuse committed in the presence of another child.
