I think you hit on a great angle with the insurance policy. For all anyone knows, the exGF may have had a policy on him for years with the child as beneficiary, and she may have lured him there.
SF, do you think he'd go there thinking he and the mom and the child were going to be a family unless she gave him reason to think that was going to happen? She was married. Did he know she was married? Things just don't add up.

She did give him reason to believe they would be together according to Eric and FG's husband to a family member. Eric knew she was married and he also was married. His wife had left him just before he left for MI and FG's husband said to a family member that he and his wife were only living in the same house for the children. FG's husband spoke to a family member twice about the relationship he had with his wife and it was not a good one. He repeated that to the police. Eric mainly wanted to meet his daughter, but hoped things would work out so they could be a family later down the road.

Somewhere you posted something about Eric's former girlfriend's maternal grandfather was a police officer that maybe told her to get out of town. I'd like to know where that information came from. PM me if you'd rather. Thanks so much.

He was told of the child and was suspicious of being the father but to my knowledge the mother had not actually told him he was really the father. There were supposedly hints about it but I never understood what was the real story. The age of the child matched up with a relationship between the two supposedly years ago. Apparently she was pregnant with the child when they ended their relationship however many years ago. I do not know if she ever told him the truth about the father of the child and I never knew of any DNA testing to prove it. So all that is unclear to me.
By the time he left Ohio for Michigan he had been corresponding with the FG around 6 months give or take a little. I have very little information about it but what I do have I will pass along in private message through my contact I am now in contact with.

Today there was a piece of information passed to my contact that may or not be of any help. It helps to explain why it was so hard to find this FG because of the name. It was how the two were corresponding and maybe the right people can find a way to retrieve any messages or some more info.
And from what I was told then it was the husband Eric found and contacted and the husband told her and she got in touch with Eric and that started the whole thing. I do not know what Eric said to the husband. I don't know what was said in messages or even on Skype between Eric and the FG. I was just told a few things. One being about a child that was possibly his but he said she would not tell him the truth but he had a feeling the child was his because of the timing of their break up and how old the child is.
Supposedly the FG was going to leave her husband to be with Eric but the reason she couldn't right away was because she and her husband had a business or two they owned together. Both their names were on everything so it was too hard for her to do it because of all the legal processes and everything it would take for one of them to drop out and give sole ownership to the other. One of them would lose alot of money and I'm sure neither wanted to do that.

Eric told me and FG's neighbors told family they owned a video business. Eric told me that FG owned an adult care facility and family went there and talked to lady who runs it for FG. FG had denied owning a vehicle described by motel owner and this lady said she did own such a car as well as "oh so many cars". One time Eric called me and said he was at a skating rink with FG and elderly people from the care facility. The lady we talk to at the care facility said Eric had been there twice with FG and ate Christmas dinner there with her. She said she also saw Eric and FG shopping at an Aldis store.I mean bowling alley, not skating rink.

Family saw public records where this facility was cited for violations for unsanitary conditions.

And there was a mention of her needing money I'm not sure for what reasons but she may have thought he had money because he had told her about his dad so she was expecting him to have inherited a ton money from that and he may have led her to believe that. I don't know

Thanks for the info. I called them today and am waiting for a call back. Interesting that that organization is in Eric's birth state.

I left message and was told someone would call within 24 hrs, but I didn't get call back today. I'll call again tomorrow.

I did hear about the small plane and one or both having pilots licenses. Also there had mention of the husband and drugs. Dealing maybe even in other countries via this small plane. And i think she was in on that as well. If all that is actually true. I'm just sharing some things I remember hearing

So was this business shut down by the health department or anything? And with them being cited for those reasons it is possible it was shut down so I can see a reason for them needing money. To pay fines and other business type fees also if this business was shut down that would mean a loss of a source of income so not as much money for all the cars and luxury items and even owning a couple of small businesses fueling even a small plane is expensive and the maintenance and other fees there. So it sounds like money is a big thing with this case.

And I am not sure if there was any truth to the husband having served a prison sentence at some point for something to do with drugs? That may or not have been a made up story that I remember hearing of

No, but that's all public record. It was still a business when we went there. Some of FG's family had lived upstairs according to manager and moved out of state with FG. Manager said FG and husband had talked of moving to NC, but suddenly decided another state. New business was opened where they moved. It's all available info on the internet.

NC is out for obvious reasons. CA is not an option for obvious reasons. CA was Eric's favorite place so makes sense to suddenly chose another state.
