The lawyer for a man arrested in Michigan in connection with what the FBI described as a thwarted Halloween terror plot says there is “no evidence” to back up the claim.

Three senior law enforcement officials briefed on the investigation said federal agents took five people from Dearborn and Inkster, Michigan, into custody Friday as part of a investigation into a plot to attack the U.S. around Halloween that was tied to Islamic State group extremism.

Two senior law enforcement sources briefed on the investigation said some of the suspects are naturalized citizens born in the Middle East who had access to firearms and firearm training...

No evidence? Has he read the criminal complaint?
Not much else he can say, I guess.

Thank you for linking the Complaint. There’s a lot to unpack there.

I wonder who Co conspirator 1 is? They mention him staying with the Dearborn people and then goes back to his US residence. After two days he leaves the country - July 4 to August 20th and while he’s gone he has a conversation through an encrypted application with 5 people, including and FBI Confidential Human Source. Person 1(the minor), Ali and Mahmoud don’t appear to be part of this call.

When Co conspirator 1 arrives back into the United States he’s interviewed and his phone is reviewed. They talk about what was found (in the Complaint)

Frankly it’s scary that this went on for as long as it did. They were doing their due diligence and when “pumpkin day” is mentioned they had to act. Job well done! imo

Some additional or add ons to Co Conspirator #1 who was definitely known to authorities and was being watched.

"Co-conspirator 1 left Dearborn, Michigan, and returnedto his U.S. residence. Co-conspirator 1 stayed in the United States forapproximately two days before traveling overseas. On August 20, 2025,Co-conspirator 1 arrived back in the United States. Upon his arrival,Co-conspirator 1 was interviewed by Customs and Border Protection(“CBP”), and his phone was reviewed by CBP agents."

"A review of Co-conspirator 1’s cellulartelephone location data obtained via search warrant showed that Coconspirator 1’s cell phone was in Dearborn, Michigan, from June 30,2025, to July 2, 2025. This was confirmed by physical surveillance, which showed that Co-conspirator 1 stayed at ALI’s residence duringthat time."

"The contents of Co-conspirator 1’s phone revealed Googlesearches related to “ISIS” and the “Islamic State,” and pictures of whatappear to be Co-conspirator 1 in military-style clothing with weapons."

"On July 27, 2025, while Co-conspirator 1 was overseas, heengaged in a group call via an encrypted communication applicationwith approximately five other individuals. Among the participants ofthis group call was an FBI Confidential Human Source (the “CHS”).The CHS recorded this call, capturing both audio and video."

"During the group call, the participants discussed travelingoverseas to join Co-conspirator 1 and then later traveling together toSyria to join ISIS."

“Person 1 and Ali discussed when to conduct their attack, when they appeared to set for Halloween, and they sought guidance from the father of a local Islamic extremist ideologue on this question,” the complaint reads.

FBI officials said they found three AR-15-style rifles, two shotguns, four handguns, more than 1,600 rounds of ammunition, optical sights, two GoPro cameras, a flash suppressor, tactical vests, and other gun parts and accessories at the homes of Ali and Mahmoud.

The 1,600 rounds of ammunition were compatible with the AR-15-style rifles, the complaint says.

In a storage unit rented by Ali and visited by Mahmoud, FBI agents said they found two more chest rig vests, two black tactical backpacks, and 24 empty magazines compatible with the three AR-15-style riles.

Here's the complaint, I'm only a little ways through it, and these guys definitely are where they belong. MOO
Thank you, just this snippet alone suggests that it is far better to be safe than gory.

''In August and September 2025, at around the same time as the third-party discussions referencing an attack to be carried out by Person 1 and ALI, ALI purchased a shotgun, an AR-15 style rifle, and multiple firearm accessories, including a forced reset trigger that allows a shooter to increase the rate of fire in a semiautomatic weapon. MAHMOUD also purchased an AR-15 style rifle in September 2025, as 1 Case 2:25-mj-30673-DUTY ECF No. 1, PageID.3 Filed 11/01/25 Page 3 of 73 well as multiple firearms accessories. Then in October 2025, MAHMOUD purchased over 1,600 rounds of ammunition that could be used in the AR-15 style rifles he and ALI had purchased. ''

Two New Jersey men have been arrested in connection with the ongoing terror-related investigation out of Detroit, according to four law enforcement officials familiar with the situation.

One of them, a 19-year-old from Montclair, was taken into custody Tuesday morning in the Terminal B food court at Newark Liberty International Airport, the officials said.

Two officials say he allegedly talked about wanting to train with ISIS and was planning to fly to Turkey to, perhaps, try to travel to Syria.

Two officials described his plans as “aspirational.” The sources said this individual was planning to travel to Turkey on Nov. 17, but he allegedly moved up his timeline after news broke about the Detroit raids. He arrived at the airport Tuesday morning with a plan to fly out at 12:30 am Wednesday, the officials said.

None of this seems innocent. I don’t see it as a case of “jumping the gun” by the FBI. imo

The son of noted Iranian-American poet Roger Sedarat has been arrested in tony Montclair, New Jersey in connection with an alleged ISIS-inspired terror plot uncovered in Michigan last week, law enforcement sources said.
Milo Sedarat was arrested at his father’s home in Montclair Wednesday, sources told The Post.
(…)
The feds also nabbed another Montclair teen, Tomas Kaan Guzel, 19, sources said.

Guzel was arrested in a food court in Terminal B at the Newark Liberty International Airport, where police said he was waiting for a flight to Turkey with the goal of reaching Syria and training with ISIS, sources said.

The suspect was allegedly set to travel on Nov. 17, but moved the date up after news broke out about the Detroit raids against the terror suspects, officials said.

Guzel was waiting for his flight, which was set to take off early Wednesday.

DETROIT, Mich. – Today, the FBI arrested a third defendant, Ayob Nasser, 19, of Dearborn, Michigan, in connection with the alleged ISIS terrorism case from earlier this week against other two Dearborn men, Mohmed Ali and Majed Mahmoud. All three were charged in the amended complaint with conspiring to provide material support to ISIS—a radical Islamic terror group that has repeatedly killed Americans. All three are also charged with having firearms that would be used to commit an act of terrorism on behalf of ISIS. The amended complaint adds to the already chilling allegations of their radical Islamic terror plot involving AR-style rifles, shotguns, handguns, and other tools for a tactical assault.

*Two unidentified juveniles are also identified in the court documents as having allegedly participated in the case.

One of the terrorists travelled to Ohio to check out Cedar Point as a possible target, a major tourist attraction and amusement park located on Lake Erie. There were special events for Halloween weekend, lots of families, young kids, at a very popular tourist attraction with upscale hotels, RV parks, restaurants, all on the beach. It's not very far from where I live, we go there every time we have visitors from out of state who want to visit Cedar Point, mostly in the summer, but sometimes in early fall. A massacre there would have involved families with young children and teenagers having a good time on Halloween, and also grandparents along with their grandchildren. Thank goodness the FBI acted when they did, after months of surveillance, and took action before a massacre could happen.

DH and I have a young friend who is a Paramedic/Firefighter in Ferndale, MI. It's scary to think that he might have been on duty when this group was planning the attack on a club in Ferndale. I'm glad that the FBI acted before a tragedy took place.

Federal prosecutors Wednesday charged a third Dearborn man in connection with an alleged Halloween terrorism plot targeting LGBTQ+ friendly clubs in Ferndale and what appears to be the Cedar Point amusement park in Ohio.

The case against 19-year-old Ayob Asmail Nasser was filed amid reports that two New Jersey men also were arrested this week and accused of playing a role in the alleged conspiracy...

Alleged Montclair jihadi yuppies posed with weapons, ranted about beheading infidels and attacking Jews in tony NJ suburb: docs

Scary stuff. It makes me wonder how many sleeper cells are out there that the FBI doesn’t know about.

A 19-year-old man from the Seattle area has been arrested in what authorities say was a foiled Michigan terror plot, the eighth such arrest in connection with a terrorist attack allegedly planned for Halloween weekend.

Saed Ali Mirreh, 19, of Kent, Washington, was arrested Wednesday by the FBI. Officials say he was in communication with seven other alleged ISIS supporters who have been arrested in the case.

This article says that one of the arrested jihadists is the son of a UN diplomat. So when he gets out of federal prison in 20 years (a possible sentence) he will be deported if he is here on family's G1 or G2 visa for employees of international organizations like the United Nations. So this jihadist will be out of the U.S. for good, it looks like, hopefully after a long stay in federal prison.
