Some of the cases against children I feel like I can step back emotionally and view the case as a series of problems to be solved.

This one is just on another level. From CD's words it sounds to me like she was using scalding baths as a punishment. I thought maybe CD was abused by her partner, and maybe she was too ignorant to know how to care for a child, considering her own childhood...at first I thought "why would the bath be half full for a four year old child? And why would you leave a four year old alone in a bath that's half full even if it's not scalding hot?" But it's clearly not just ignorance, there's a level of cruelty and viciousness in this act that's unbelievable.

I guess I'm glad they've both been found and that at least the one-year old has a chance of a better life now.

Mom of burned, dead girl was burned as a child

A mother charged in the death of her 4-year-old daughter who was found severely burned New Year's Day in Sumpter Township was also burned as a child, according to court records.

Candice Diaz, 24, was arrested with her boyfriend Brad Fields, 28, by the U.S. Marshals Service in Lake Park, Georgia Monday. The couple faces charges that include murder, second-degree murder, first-degree child abuse and torture of Diaz's daughter Gabrielle Barrett.

As a child, Diaz was "seriously burned" in a house fire when she was left alone with an alcoholic grandmother, according to Wayne County Third Circuit Court record filed in 2004...

I honestly couldn't care less what services they don't receive. The less the better. It's not an excuse for the murder they committed so why would you think their needs are a concern at all? They lost that right when they murdered that poor innocent child.

I have been diagnosed with three of their listed mental illnesses, including PTSD from abuse I experienced as a child.

I have a 7 yo daughter that I have NEVER put my hands on in anger, let alone scald her so badly she loses a freaking toe!!!! WTF?

If you have these mental illnesses and choose to not medicate because you spend your money on cocaine instead and then kill your small child, you deserve to rot in prison before you rot in hell.

I knew that the court-appointed criminal defense attorneys for these despicable monsters would ask for mental health evaluations, so it comes as no surprise. That said, these two knew exactly what they were doing then they deliberately tortured this beautiful child, left her ALONE to die an agonizing death, got into a vehicle heading south and crossing several state lines before being apprehended in Georgia a week later.

I'm so darned angry at these people that I probably didn't make my post clear enough - sorry for that.

I do understand that a not guilty plea is the default in most cases and I'm not opposed to them receiving medications while in jail if their doctors can substantiate the need. But according to msm reports neither have sought much counseling, neither are compliant with their meds yet at the same time at least Diaz was abusing prescription drugs and both were using street drugs.

My main point was that both are claiming to have a multitude of mental disorders and I'm suspicious that they are trying to use them to mitigate their treatment of Gabby. If that's the case I find it despicable.

*Sever Parental Rights Hearing (for 1/2 sister) - Gabrielle "Gabby" Barrett (4) (Jan. 1, 2018 died due to severe burns) - Candice Renea Dias (24) "mom" & Brad Edward Fields (28) BF - charged with 4 counts: felony murder, 2nd degree murder, 1st degree child abuse & torture.
State officials have begun legal proceedings to sever the couple's parental rights to
Diaz's other daughter and Gabrielle's half-sister. A hearing on the state's petition is scheduled for Jan. 25 in Wayne County Circuit Court.
The state's court petition also said both Diaz and Fields have criminal histories. Diaz is on probation for 2016 convictions for carrying a concealed weapon and possession of prescription forms. Fields has convictions for interfering with a police investigation, third-degree retail fraud and carrying a concealed weapon.

I don't think they will find that they need to be stabilized....just removed from the drugs they are consuming in monumental quantities.
