Like I said earlier, I REALLY hope it was not a bad drug reaction and the hospital let him go so quickly....

WDIV 5:00 news coming on. Suspect still at large.

My gut says they are going to find a body.

What a nice looking couple.

I am praying for all who are grieving the passing of these two parents. Another absolutely heartbreaking case.

I hope they capture him soon. There is no way to predict what else he may do now that he knows he has nothing to lose.:( I hope he doesn't get into a shootout with the police.

May the officers remain safe as they search for this double murder suspect.

This sounds like he resented they were getting him help, and repaid them by murdering both of them. The parents were most likely the ones who called LE saying he needed help. IMO

My gut says that too....but not sure what to think. He's the son of a LEO - not sure if that makes a difference here or not, but it's nagging at me.

After learning that suspect's father was in law enforcement, perhaps the firearm belonged to Dad. Assuming suspect's parents drove to campus to pick him up for spring break, perhaps shooter left campus in their car.

Just having a local news conference. The kid must be dead or hiding. My son is still hunkered down. They should have found him by now.....

Thinking about you as you think about him. I'm a mama of a college student too.

According to WDIV report at 5:00PM, law enforcement and campus police are working their way around campus to escort faculty, staff, and students to safe areas. The process could take a while as they are loading buses from classroom buildings, dorms, etc. to get people to places where they can connect with parents picking up students, parking lots, etc.

When do you expect your son to come home? Does he have a car on campus or some other transportation home? I hope he gets home safely and soon.

Okay, so he didn't drive away in his own car. Any word on his parents' car?

From the link:

"James Eric Davis Jr., a 19-year-old CMU sophomore, entered Campbell Hall on campus about 10 minutes before 9, was seen carrying a gun, and left about 10 minutes later, a witness told police."

I wonder where the shooter was before he entered the dorm at 8:50am this morning?

Oh! Answering my own question by reading further in the article!

"Davis had been taken to a hospital late Thursday and released from the MidMichigan Medical Center - Mt. Pleasant emergency room on Pickard Road Friday morning, with police saying he got out just before 8 a.m."

I thought he was released last night, but it was this morning.

Sigh. What happened that set him off?

For anyone local, what's the weather like? I'm assuming he couldn't spend the night outdoors this time of year without preparation....so if he is still alive, he's likely looking for shelter.

Not yet, but if the suspect is still alive, I think it's entirely possible that he fled campus in his parents' vehicle. I really doubt that his parents flew from Chicago area. No airport in or near Mount Pleasant, so they would have needed a rental to get to campus.

It's winter in Michigan. Probably mid-30s during the day, colder overnight. We had major snowmaker yesterday in metro Detroit (5 to 8" of new snow). Not sure how much snow they have in the middle of the state.
