A Howell woman who identified herself as Heidi Walker's daughter and Savannah's sister on her Facebook page early this morning stated an Amber Alert was out for her sister. On one post, she talked about the phone call about her mother being dead and said "I NEED MY SISTER SAFE WITH ME!!!!!!"

A subsequent post on her Facebook page stated the Explorer is her mother's vehicle. The post also stated that her mother is suspected to be dead from an overdose or possible homicide and that both were last seen with Hightower. A later post indicated she was heading to Detroit to see "IF THIS NIGHTMARE IS TRUE!! PLEASE GOD DONT LET THIS BE TRUE OMG!!!!!!!!"

More recently, she posted a comment about possible areas Hightower could be in the Detroit area, urging people to call 911 and "MOM AND SAVANNAH I WILL NOT STOP UNTIL HE IS FOUND!"

Many thanks to you and BetteDavisEyes for this update I'm really surprised he turned himself in. Let's hope he gets locked away without the possibility of parole before he can kill again. It's shocking there are people living amongst us who are capable of killing a person especially a young innocent child. I really hope hell exists.

I thought for sure the bodies found in the burned house would have been identified by now. No updates on the case other than the perp turning himself in to authorities. Perhaps the ME is notifying family members before releasing the identities of the deceased to the media. Maybe there will be update on local news this evening.

Detroit police are investigating the discovery of two bodies – possibly a girl and her mother who are former Livingston County residents – in an abandoned house set on fire on the city's east side.


Meanwhile, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department is having to defend itself after Detroit police officials announced they did not issue an Amber Alert for 4-year-old Savannah Walker, who was first reported missing on Tuesday.

At a mid-afternoon press conference, Bezotte said Perlaki reported Tuesday receiving information from a woman named Tameka, who was identified as Hightower’s sister. He did not have the last name of Tameka, who allegedly told Perlaki that her brother indicated Heidi Walker had dropped him off in Detroit and then headed back to Ann Arbor with her daughter Savannah.


Bezotte said Perlaki reported that Savannah called someone named “Paw Paw” and told him that she saw her mother “dead on a bed” in Detroit. “Paw Paw” relayed that information to Hightower’s sister who told Perlaki who reported it to police, the sheriff said.

HOWELL, MI – A Livingston County Sheriff's deputy did all he could have done to help a woman who contacted the sheriff's office Tuesday to report her mother might be dead in Detroit, county authorities said.


Any suggestion otherwise is "baseless and ridiculous," Sheriff Robert Bezotte said, responding to what he interpreted as criticism of his department from the Detroit police chief.

Walker's mother, Heidi Walker, was reported missing by the mother's adult daughter to Livingston County authorities the same day.


Craig said authorities would look into a possible delay in notifying other agencies, such as DPD and the state police, saying, "We certainly don't want to be critical, but we believe that, once the family, the same information, took it to the state police, they acted quickly."

A man wanted in connection with their disappearance has turned himself in after the body of an adult female and a child were found in a burned-out home in Detroit.

this is a mess. the mother was known to frequent drug houses. was she taking her toddler? bad choices.
