Wow, knowing what I know now, this leaves me speechless. Sad.

That's quite an impressive resume' of Community Service. Oh well I guess Pillars do crumble in time.

I'm learning that people who are extra expressive about all of their wonderful attributes, should be looked upon with suspicion. It's just not normal to toot one's own horn like he did in that article. Sure, he was being interviewed, but he said too much. I noticed he said he was involved with several start ups - I wonder how many of them he saw through to the end. Also I'm curious as to when he found the time for all these involvements along with all of his extra curricular activities that we know about now. Lastly, how does his heavy handed drinking fit in with the program for addiction intervention he claims to have fathered?

Yes and since his children's ages were listed in the article it was some time ago. Seems bob has changed. I would be most interested too as to what ones he stuck with and how much time did he really spend on them. I wonder if folks will come out of the woodwork if charges are laid. Might be very interesting.

--sorry, i didn't mean to imply that was a 'new' article on big bobb--the picture has him at 45----the article was from 2003.

--yes, i do wonder what his friends are thinking about him these days..

--these '3 or 4' haven't stepped out to support 'the outstanding citizen' lately.

http://www.wxyz.com/dpp/news/bashara-at ... conference

During the news conference, Griem answered a number of questions from journalists on the intricate details in Jane Bashara's murder investigation.

When asked why he took the case, Griem said that three or four people told him about what an outstanding citizen Bashara is and how he is greatly involved in the community.

No problem. Appreciate reading the article.

Just a friendly reminder that Local 4 is having the special tonight at ten if anyone didn't know or forgot. I think I'm even going to DVR Greys and Private Practice to watch it.
Do you think bb will be watching?
I wonder as long as we wait for bb to get charged, if he is preparing his life for what may happen!?!
Also wonder without his wife and RG, what he is filling that void with these days? Kind of hard to find a date right now, I would think.

One thing about the drinking (all the pics of him with a glass in his hand)--and I mean NO offense to other people who are local here, but drinking is a big social activity in this region. I never noticed until I had been gone for 16 years and returned--there is a bar on every corner, it's not unusual for groups of people to meet "at the bar" regularly and sometimes it's the only activity they do together, or they mix it with bowling or another activity that allows them to drink.

Personally, I think it's a holdover from the auto plant days when social activity occurred at the bars near every auto plant, where all the men went directly to after their shift was over--and the wives would join them there or wives would call the bar to tell their husbands to come home.

My boyfriend came to visit once and remarked about the amazing number of bars and lounges here, he'd never seen anything like it.

BB may or may not be an alcoholic, it would be hard to tell just by the pictures just from my knowledge of how people socialize here.

Police Report Details Bob Bashara's 1995 Child Molestation Allegation

There's yet another allegation that doesn't quite jive with his public persona. In April of 1995, the parents of a five-year-old girl went to police with some disturbing allegations.

According to a police report, the child said Bob Bashara "picked her up and
took her to the spare bedroom, closing and locking the door behind them."

Her statement went on to say Bashara was wearing nothing but a bathrobe. The girl said he put her over his lap and spanked her for no reason, opened his bathrobe, then trapped her hand between his legs in a sexual manner.

The child also told her parents of other allegedly inappropriate behavior.

Um... well.... the spanking thing certainly fits in with his preference for sadism behaviors. In child molestation allegations, you don't usually run across this as a sexual component in the attack. Tends to lend credibility to this claim, imo.

This thing sure has gotten a lot more complicated than I ever expected. I thought it would be much like the kinds of domestic crimes we usually hear about.... a controlling husband loses it and kills his wife, gets processed at Jackson, then goes up north to bunk with Michael Fletcher and Stephen Grant, courtesy of the state.

BTW, I missed the tv special. I thought it was going to be part of the 11pm news broadcast and tuned in at 11:10pm. I totally overlooked the fact that it was on an hour earlier than the news.

That's the thing that stuck out to me too.

After giving everyone here the heads up on last night's WDIV special about the Bashara case, I didn't watch. I have a doozy of a cold and went to bed at 8:00. From the teasers about the show, I got the impression that it would be a compilation of various reports that the station's investigative reporters have already done with regard to the Bashara case and that there wouldn't be anything new reported in the special. It seems that LE is waiting for lab results before they can advance their case. Also, depositions from those who have been subpoenaed in the case are likely to take some time. We'll have to be patient and remember that the wheels of justice sometimes turn slowly.

Who are some of the key people being looked at? People connected to Joe Gentz and anyone else in his inner circle. Did they hear a possible confession or learn anything about the connection between Gentz and the Bashara family?

Another person that could be critical is Rachel Gillett, Bob Bashara’s alleged mistress.
“They would be using it really with witnesses, primarily. They’re not going to put a suspect, Joe, under investigative subpoena unless they’re cutting a deal with him,” Flood said.

Bob Bashara and Gentz are likely not part of the subpoena list because they have already given statements to police about what they know.

I wonder if any of the key people could be someone at the bar that seen JG and bb talking together or leaving together the evening before the murder? THAT would be GREAT!!!
I just wonder if the neighbors seen anything that evening with bb's coming and going?

I generally spend my time in the Children's Crimes Forum, but this case has really caught my interest. I've been following along. It is just itching my nerve that that <modsnip> hasn't been arrested yet. Hopefully soon.

Feel better soon Bette :seeya: I did watch and i think the only thing i learned was that Joe was instructed to meet bob at the house at 7:00 p.m. that fateful eve. Also a discrepancy in bob and Joe's story regarding the small job Joe did at the Bashara home. Joe states Jane was home and retrieved the shovel he needed from the garage. bob states Jane wasn't home that day and was at work. Guess that would be easy enough to check out. I do wonder if anyone spotted bob coming home at 7:00. Did we get a time that bob was seen at the bar?

Thanks for the info. I had planned on watching, but fell asleep in bed before 10:00 pm ever rolled around. Sounds like it really was just a rehash of previously known facts except the above that you mentioned. Appreciate your letting me know I didn't miss anything except that. :seeya:
