Virtually every day, Jeannie Verhille walks into her daughter’s empty bedroom and wonders where she is.

It has been nearly three months since Jenna, who recently was released from jail after battling drug issues, eager to start a newly landed waitressing job, left their Monroe County home and never returned.

None of the 26-year-old’s friends or family have heard from her since. Authorities have been working to find her and Crime Stoppers of Michigan continues to offer a $1,000 reward for tips. But as weeks pass without concrete leads, loved ones fear the worst.
“I just truly feel that there is something amiss,” Jeannie Verhille said. “There is something really wrong here.”
Protecting Jenna, she said, has been the family goal since they adopted her from another relative as a toddler.
An arts lover whose work adorned her family’s South Rockwood home, Jenna Verhille attended dance classes before graduating from Airport High School in Carleton and studying at Monroe County Community College, relatives said.

Several years ago, while Verhille worked at a restaurant, relatives noticed a change in the bubbly blonde woman’s behavior and learned she had started using heroin, her mother said.

Still no news of missing South Rockwood woman

South Rockwood resident Jeannie Verhille says there have been few credible leads in the six months since her 26-year-old daughter, Jenna, a known drug user, was last seen.

“There’s nothing new,” Verhille said. “I’ve had a call or two from the police that always turns up not being credible, or not anything about Jenna.” In November, two women who do not know Jenna reported seeing a woman matching her description, but with different colored hair, at a Michigan motel, but no further sightings have been documented.

South Rockwood Acting Police Chief Darrin Wright said the case is inactive since Jenna is an adult and there is no evidence that a crime has been committed. Nevertheless, Verhille remains convinced that someone is keeping her daughter from contacting any friends or family members.

“We feel like maybe she did take off with these people and think ‘OK, fun and games, I’m going to do what I want,’ ” Verhille said. “Then it became serious and they really just kept her, took advantage of her, or have her locked in a basement.”

Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information, but Verhille says she hopes to hold a fundraiser soon to increase that amount. She also has started a

Missing Monroe woman’s family continues to look for answers

July 13 2021
In August, it will be 4 years since 26-year-old Jenna Verhille’s family reported her missing from her South Rockwood, Michigan home.

During this time, they never really lost faith that she would somehow be found alive. But recent information from a renewed search of her cold case has taken away any hope that she’s alive.

According to Monroe City Police, they have reason to believe that Jenna is deceased and they are now actively looking for her remains.

And that’s the hope from her mother Jeannie who says she just wants to bring her body home for a proper burial.

Police and family members believe Jenna, who was struggling with heroin addiction at the time, overdosed and died. The question remains what was done with her body?

Police issued a renewed call for any information about Jenna’s disappearance a few weeks ago and say they’ve received dozens of tips that they are actively following up on.

They remain hopeful that they will be able to locate Jenna’s body so her family can have some form of closure.
