Chicago's South Side. LOTS of crime there. Could be anyone.

I get where you are coming from - but Chicago's Southside is a large area, and the particular area where the leg was found is Kenwood.

Kenwood is where Barack Obama's Chicago residence is. It's an upscale, yuppie, gentrified area that has went through an urban redevelopment the past...hmm...maybe 10 years? (I'm 32. I know it's been upscale for about 6 years minimum, since I started paying attention to such things.)

(I am also from the Southside of Chicago, near Midway - all coppers and firemen in my area, as city employees must live in the city limits - and the houses in this area trend for about $200k. Yet...head about three miles east and you are in what is locally known as the 'hood.)

Here's a link to a pic of Barack's home, so you can get a feel for what Kenwood looks like:Barack Obama's House - Kenwood - Chicago | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Does ANYONE think she knew the guy and went willingly (planned it) and made it look like an abduction? It wouldn't be the first time a woman has done that. Just a thought since we are coming up so empty handed, and no one matching the sketch has ever been found. Just thinking out loud about something that's been on my mind for a while now.

Plus the witness would have to be in cahoots with her... give a false description etc. If it were someone she had been seeing I think someone would have said something by now. And while I know you say she would never leave her son, people say that all the time- whenever someone disappears. Have never heard anyone say "oh yeah.. i can see her doing that to (friends, family etc...) But I still dont think she went willingly, and if she did, I think she would have at least made it LOOK like a robbery... just my opinion....

Why has no recognized the sketch, if so? It should have been automatic, "oh that's Harry" or whatever, and then just a matter of tracing him to a gray van.
Two thoughts, either the sketch is off or the perp is not local. I have a friend that lives north of Traverse City and he hadn't heard about the abduction as of last week. I will assume the sketch is fairly accurate so maybe it means perp isn't local. The case needs more media coverage.

This was in reply to someone saying they believed he was a co-worker.

The comment “10 out of 10” regarding the suspect sketch has always bothered me. It’s not possible, imo, to draw an exact likeness of a person, especially when that person is not right in front of the witness while they’re describing their features.

So either someone knows who this person is but they cannot be located or it’s not an exact match, let alone, perhaps not even remotely similar.

There must have been more cameras along roadways leading away from the Exxon to capture footage of all vehicles in the vicinity around 11:00 pm on 4/26. I’m not overly certain the van was involved or, if involved, was the only vehicle involved. I recall reading that in a surveillance camera video, there was a dark colored sedan driving near the van just after 11:00 pm, has that vehicle been cleared, I wonder?

I also wonder whatever became of the FBI profile that was supposed to be produced? It certainly doesn’t take this long to come up with a suspect profile!

LE has kept reporting updates along the way, but I find most of the information released of little value in regards to figuring out what happened to Jessica. I hope LE is following-up on all possible scenarios behind the scenes. It was reported that LE was scouring through cell phone records, wonder if they came up with any interesting leads from those records.

IMOO

Most of us want to assume that Jessica would not take off and leave her son, her fiancé, etc., but people can and do leave their lives behind in search of greener pastures. We can't know what was going on in JH's life to know for certain that she wouldn't have left. :moo:

Since many from Michigan are interested in finding Jessica, you might recall this case from the spring of 2012 when a family of three - dad, mom, infant - disappeared from Petoskey in northern lower Michigan. Even though there was family in the same area, no one knew why this young couple and their new baby vanished and were not heard from for weeks until they learned about concern for them on national TV. The couple contacted a family member to let her know that they were alright but didn't want to discuss the situation any further. There weren't follow up reports about the family, whether they returned home to Petoskey, or why they left suddenly without telling anyone.

I considered this possibility, but since LE has said that they feel that JH was abducted by someone that she likely knew, I've accepted that explanation. I responded to another post with my thoughts on this.

I don't believe Jessica is missing by choice.

Also, wasn't the money still in the register even though the register door was open. I'd think if one was going to stage one's own disappearance & knew there were no cameras, they'd take the money. You'd need some cash to start out a new life with and eat, etc. Just saying.

Not if you're a damsel in distress being rescued by a knight in shining armor :D

I don't think that JH left willingly, but it's worth consideration when there's been no progress in locating her. :moo:

And if that is the case, knowing that her son is well taken care of by her fiance and family, then she wouldn't have to "worry" about her son...if that truly is the case. And when I say "worry" I mean in the fact that he is fed, clothed, roof over his head, etc.
I still don't think that is the case, but like you mentioned it is something to consider when there has been no progress in locating her...even though that might be far from reality....

It's because they basically hire the dregs of society to be 911 operators. The job doesn't exactly require a PhD. In my opinion, they should have LE working as 911 operators, not civilians. This is what we have to deal with in SE Michigan:

Welcome to WS Ozoner!
Unbelievable that they (the system together) allowed this to happen and don't seem to consider their errors a big deal. Very sad.

This article dated 6/7/13 In addition to talking about false money collectors for Jessicas son , right at the end of the article it gives two places one can properly donate to him.

For some reason, the whole donate thing makes me uncomfortable. It didn't the first couple of weeks as I think that's showing compassion and being kind by rallying around the family but is this expected forever? Considering how many missing persons there are, do they all receive and expect solicited funds? What is the money being used for exactly? They're not conducting mass searches or anything. What's the purpose of collecting funds other than the family and friends could possibly help the bf out with the little boy and anyone who personally wants to help can step up. But setting up formal fund accounts and soliciting???? Someone please explain.

So many people are down on their luck, the economy has been bad for a long time but what's the purpose of soliciting money when someone goes missing? Is the bf incapable of working at a gas station himself? Please, I don't wish to come off as cold hearted but I really don't get the purpose of an ongoing collection of funds. It sounds as if they could have used that before Jessica disappeared as well. Thoughts?

To remind, websleuths doesn't allow soliciting on the site.

If not for her son, I'd entertain this thought. We don't know the pressures she was under though. The chances are slim this is the case imo.

LE being so silent and invisible in these cases almost always leads to a bout of speculation about the person leaving willingly. I am thinking that the blood, and her purse full of money left behind point to a criminal act.

It's sad but at this point all anybody can do is hope for the best.
Pray they find additional evidence by some miracle I guess.

If the police aren't sharing anything about the case, we can only hope they'll get a break soon that will lead them to the truth.
