Thanks. A note on this since it seems WZZM didn't see fit to include it: while the date is not yet set for it, the KB preliminary hearing was specifically postponed to take place after JW's preliminary hearing relating to the Jessica Heeringa charges, scheduled for December 6th.

:waiting: And we're also waiting for this:

. . . Willis' preliminary exam. . . As of 11 a.m. Tuesday morning, Kostrzewa had yet to rule on a defense motion to close the courtroom during the preliminary exam. Willis defense attorney Brian Hosticka argued last week an open exam could allow ongoing media coverage of what's become a high-profile case, possibly tainting the pool of future jurors. Media lawyers argued the courtroom stay open in order to educate and inform the public.

Anything to try and delay the inevitable.

Thank you for this update I only just got the google alert email about this and came straight here. The judge made the correct decision I think. From a previous post on the Find Jessica Heeringa facebook page I think this is the decision the family wanted.

Thanks for the update. I have absolutely no idea how to set myself up for updates, so I appreciate you and Greg and others posting these.

Also, Mlive provides a very nice explanation of the process from Judge Kostrzewa.

To set Google Alerts look here https://www.google.co.uk/alerts?hl=en&tab=33 add Jessica Heeringa's name and you'll be emailed when a story breaks or when you want to be alerted, it's a very useful tool if you follow a lot of cases on WS.

Thanks for the information Leep. On that note if someone would like to post the links there was a major update in the Bletsxh side of the case resulting in New delays relating to someclient attorney privilege issues being raised. I would do it but don't have computer access atm. Best sources for clear detail appear to Mlive or Wood.

Three Years of Dateline Missing in America: 64 Still Missing

by Dateline NBC

Dateline NBC's social and digital series 'Missing in America' began on December 5, 2013, following a question the night before to our Facebook community, "Do you know anyone who has simply vanished?" The response was overwhelming. Since that first post, every Monday, we have featured the story of a different missing person brought to our attention from a member of our online communities.

On this third anniversary of the series, more than a third of those we have featured are still missing. Several have had someone charged in connection with their cases. In others, a person has been convicted of their murder. But they still have not been brought home.

Please take a moment to read, and share, their stories. Someone, somewhere, saw something that may help authorities. Could it be you or one of your friends?

JESSICA HEERINGA

Jessica Heeringa was working alone at a gas station in Norton Shores, Michigan on April 26, 2013, when she disappeared...

Looking at the details of the claims he's making, I have to wonder if he spent some time at the poker games with his cousin Kevin Bluhm discussing just how to muck the legal process up as an inmate if he ever got caught.

Latest update: Judge Kostrzewa rules that the evidence from the 2016 kidnapping and the 2014 murder of Rebekah Bletsch can be used in the Heeringa case. I'm sure we can expect an appeal of some kind. For a public defender, Hosticka sure seems determined to make sure JW gets the fairest trial he can get. That's not a bad thing, I suppose, no matter my personal feelings.

Thank you for this update. I agree with you all defendants should get a fair trial no matter how heinous and hated they are for their evil acts. The justice system depends on fair trials.

I don't buy the defence attorney's argument the charges in the cases are unrelated.

Really interesting about the customer who saw Willis in the store with Heeringa..think it was the night before the abduction...the customer got bad vibes and said that Heeringa did too, in her opinion.

Excerpt from article: "Nester recalled a man in the store, now realizing it was Willis.

She explained she was struck by him: Willis turned around and said Heeringa has customers looking out for her, too.

Heeringa "at that point she kind of shook her head and shivered," Nester said. "Something wasn't right about the way she was acting."

Nester offered to park nearby the gas station and keep watch until it closed. Heeringa refused, but Nester stuck around anyway.'
