Been trying to reply but system keeps saying Im not logged in when I go to hit reply button after typing lengthy replies. I hope this works this time. What the coroner said I believe was asphyxiated then drowned. This is the same as what I am saying or tried to. Like many others I couldn't understand how someone could drown yet not have water in their lungs so went digging for an answer. This theory helps it make sense now. I came across an old cold case which explained how this happens. If someone is attempting to drown someone, or more specificly dunking them (either underwater, or in and out repeatedly) this is what happens. Cold water exposure, or "dunking" or immersion causes laryngospasm which causes apnea, (inability to breathe, unable to take water into their lungs) ->leads to hypoxia (oxygen deprivation) resulting in asphyxiation, and then drowning. *Ever had someone surprise you with cold water, or jump into a lake, pool that was real cold and it momentarily takes your breath away? You gasp real suddenly? That is what is happening. But of coarse we dont die, because theres no threat.. Julias threat was real and made sure they silenced her kept doing whatever it was they were doing to her until they got the result they wanted. This is one theory thatd explain the dry drowning with asphyxiation beforehand. Ive tried to find out if vasovagal syncope can cause laryngospasm but havent found anything definative yet. I now think its still a possibility of "mugging" that could have caused crushing of the larynx causing asphyxiation, but doesnt one pass out unconcience first? What doesnt make sense is no signs of any struggle or any marks on Julia. Curious to know what the toxicology report had to say. *I was also reading from the textbook of forensic medicine I'll get the link to it

Actually, it does make sense. In many cases, strangulation does not leave any marks at all. A skilled strangler can render his victim unconscious in five to ten seconds, per the endless articles you can find on this topic via Goog.

BTW Ont - be sure and check the "keep me logged in box" right under where you enter your log-in info. It should fix the logging out and posting problem.

But do we know that there was no water in Julia's lungs? I have not seen that anywhere.

No, we don't know that. It was not mentioned in any of the media articles. I quoted and linked all of the LE statements in earlier posts in this thread, and in none of them was it stated whether or not water was in the lungs. Ont's theory could apply, but we don't have enough information to make that conclusion.

Here's a re-post of a summary of the facts compiled from LE statements:

- She was asphyxiated, but alive;
- Then drowned in the tub;
- Her VS condition was ruled out as a factor;
- Cause of death is "asphyxiation associated with drowning"; and
- Manner of death is homicide.

In addition:

- The manner in which she was asphyxiated has not been determined;
- She was partially clothed;
- Her body was in an "unnatural position";
- There were no signs of external physical trauma;
- There was no sexual assault;
- No signs of a struggle;
- No forced entry; but
- Room was in "disarray";
- Items of value were not taken, and her purse was "untouched";
- Robbery does not appear to be a motive; and
- Suspicious evidence was left at the scene, but LE hasn't revealed details about the evidence;
- Stepfather has been named a POI, but LE is not calling him a "suspect" at this time. He has not been forthcoming about "his whereabouts in the days prior" to the murder.

I'm thinking about the room in disarray. Was this because the Perp was looking for her key, or something else? Did Julia have something incriminating he was looking for? Nothing has been said about her phone or laptop, so I will *assume* they weren't missing. I wonder if the Perp took an external HD or flash drive.... Just thinking aloud and speculating, have heard nothing to back these notions up.

I do know that her key was removed from her key ring - So if they were searching for her key and that is why the room was a mess - they found it.

Also Trojan and the family have confirmed that she was not someone who always kept her room "neat and tidy" so we must wonder - how disarrayed was her room?

I think of messy as stuff all off the place, and "disarray" as tables overturned, etc. But this seems inconsistent with no signs of struggle. Confusing....or maybe it was no signs of struggle associated with her physical being. I don't know.

Who removed the key from the chain, and why?
Why would Julia remove the key from her chain?
Who would the perp remove the key from the chain. The perp could just take the whole keychain. It is easy to make keys disappear. (In fact, they
sometimes seem to disappear by themselves ! ;) )

This is a very good question. And why would they take the time to remove the key? One would think they would be eager to depart.

Or possibly thinking they would be able to make entry to the crime scene again with it before anyone realized what had happened?

In the Monroe Evening News tonight on the front page is an article about the $10,000 reward money for information leading to an arrest in Julia's case is being suspended and the investigator said that because Ypsilanti Police have named her stepfather as a person of interest that reward money will go to other unsolved cases.

There is nothing about this online. Locals - do any of you have a paper to verify this post?

Thank you dmc. Good to see it on the front page in Monroe News

I cannot read the whole article. But this does not make much sense to me. The case is unsolved. It is of course true that there are other unsolved cases and other causes that deserve support, but why is "Justice for Julia" no longer a worthy cause?

Squirrel, I don't have an answer. Crime Stoppers reward is still active. The one stopped is through the Duvall Group --- I don't know who they are or how they got involved. Could they know more than we know about being a POI?
